  • is the system the same when u start it with kick?

  • @luckutyzzz No this bike does not have a kick start. All this does is bypass the ignition switch, nothing else is changed.

  • Can't you just drag it into any Car shop and tell them I lost the keys? :)

  • @Khaled0Sharara yeah that sounds a lot easier go for it lol

  • im gonna get soooooo many motorcycles

  • I have a honda nighthawk an to locate the ignition wires is not nearly as easy they are under everything else ....

  • thats very easy but i have a questions: do you have to keep the wire in after you started ?

  • @Seriath1 Indeed you do

  • @mrmaxstorey hey dude. i love your videos and i have watched them all. i just wondering. how many motorcycles do you have ? and can you make a video and show all your motorcycles and tell there models :) i self got alot of motorcycles well alot and alot. i have 7 bikes. so. please make a review all your bikes :) thanks. /crasy4lifes

  • @crasy4lifes Hey my collection is changing all the time, so it would be difficult to keep everyone updated. I do have a video up showing all the bikes I have worked on in the past year, as well as another one shot a long time ago showing my shop and where I work. Hopefully they can help satisfy your curiosity :)

  • Where did you get that particular wire? Could you just go to a hardware store and het any copper wire?

  • @ar1odante any wire will do, even a paperclip

  • Wow... That's insanely easy. I'm scared now

  • Can that work for a quad ?

  • @KDXLOC probably

  • Will this work on my Yamaha XT350

  • @64Dillan maybe, give it a shot

  • thanks so much for the hotwiring it worked perfect

  • @menaperez55 cool

  • where should i get the wire to do this?

  • @raushkanaush Wherever you want to, I used a paperclip once

  • @mrmaxstorey Can you get them at your local hardware store?

  • @antonio3p1 Literally any small wire will do the job. Next time you throw out an old hairdryer or toaster clip the wire and there ya go

  • @mrmaxstorey Aight thanks bro so a wire from a moped would also work then. Just wanted to make sure :)

  • You are a legend :)

  • now just to figure out how to by pass steering lock

  • @filod3vil there are two bolts that keep the ignition attached and new locks are there. the bolts are located under it, once they are removed then the ignition will drop down and unlock the steering

  • will this work on a moped

  • @habwin2 maybe? go try it

  • This won't bypass an immobiliser. Check out my alarm install video on a GSXR

  • I love you

  • thank you.

  • Thank you! Bahahahahahahha

  • Does this work?

  • @TheChocohaim umm... duh

  • does this work on any motorcycle?

  • @xxReaverXXCerberusxx Many bikes are wired differently, but the same concept can be applied to many different bikes.

  • @mrmaxstorey THAAAAAAAANKS A MIL!

  • will this work for the bros quad?

  • @davidwatson457352 I dunno give it a shot

  • 9 people got there motorcycle taken away and they all drove away laughing AHAHAHAHAHAHHA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • So, to prevent theft all you have to do is cover that box in super glue and then liberally apply lots and lots of nice and sharp small jagged shards of broken glass to it. Oh, boy great! Not only do you prevent the theft of your bike, but you've also got some of the thief's DNA laden blood to take to your local cop. Yay, double bonus!

  • @brett2968 Haha great idea

  • Wow. My motorcycle was stolen a week ago. The police found it and called today. They have it but the ignition is broken. I don't have the money to have it towed, (and it's $178 just to get it out), so I'm going to try this tmrw and hope it works so I can ride it home. The bike was found 30 miles from me. Unfortunately it's a Kawasaki, so I guess it might not be so easy.

  • @demford Sorry for your misfortune dude. If you have a repair manual for your bike, a wiring diagram would definitely help you get the bike started. If not, bring a couple pieces of wire and some tape, and experiment.

  • To help clear up some doubt. While it seems scetchy, i just performed this on a honda CBR 600 F3 i obtained legally through transfer of ownership. it worked, and i actually had a switch kicking around which i used to create a keyless toggle ignition. thanks for the video, much appreciated. :D\

  • @RylandLTSS Right on

  • sooooooo, what about the ECU?

  • @EPICT0ASTER Umm... what about the ECU?

  • @mrmaxstorey well on bikes who's ignition are wired into the ECU, will this still work?

  • @EPICT0ASTER Yeah all you are doing is bypassing the ignition switch, its basically doing the same thing as turning the key no other electrical systems are being adjusted or affected.

  • oh no dude not cool....if my bike gets gone its on u lol....crazy video but cool..

  • what type of wire did it use? some one plz tell me >.<

  • @killthosewhohate It really doesn't matter, this is an old piece of speaker wire, but Ive used a paper clip or a rolled up piece of tin foil before

  • @mrmaxstorey thanx cuz my bro lost his keys and i wanted to impress him with this and be like ha i can do it without keys

  • @killthosewhohate Go for it thats why I put this video up lol

  • This is helpful for those of us whose families lost the key to our 4-wheeler, sp I'll get it running thanks to this video. However, for those who worry about their bike getting ripped off by some creep, just use some aftermarket theft control, like a bar that locks the front fork and front wheel to the frame. Maybe they can start it, but they're not riding it anywhere... Peace. You're smarter than 99.9% of the jerks who would try to steal your ride.

  • @1ForAllandAllForAll Thanks man for understanding this video for what it was intended. I do have a video planned on how to prevent motorcycle theft, that should be coming in the near future. Best of luck w your 4wheeler

  • @1ForAllandAllForAll See, there's a problem with that. A thief that actually wants the bike (not one that just wants to get somewhere), would probably lift it into the back of a van & drive it away.

  • Does this work on most bikes?

  • @randomvalleydude Lots of bikes are different, but the concept is the same

  • my bike got stolen two weeks ago, this was the vid i needed just in case i come across the lousy fuckers that stole it. knock them out and then re-steal my bike. yeah, that'll work!

  • I WILL DECAPITATE ANY MOTHERFUCKER WHO TRIES THIS ON MY BIKE

  • @nikonxxx Lol do you own a yellow Seca? Ahahahahaha!!!

  • @mrmaxstorey LET ME GET MY GLOCK !!!!!

  • @nikonxxx Woah there tiger

  • Does this work on newer motorcycles? Like 2010 ninja?

  • @javv6655 All bikes are different, altho the concept is the same. Kawasaki did a better job designing their bikes to be a little more difficult to hotwire, so if you have one that you need to start without the key, it might be useful to consult your wiring diagram first

  • Epic laugh at the end of the vid! xD

  • or you could unhook the connector and oush start it

  • @1998620Miki You still need to turn the bike on somehow by bridging those connectors

  • i hate when the top comment is a response to another comment because i can NEVER find the other comment

  • @RCNINJAKINECTFREAK Lol true enough

  • Let me help you :) connecting wires is to battery cabels, one end of your wire is to "+" and second end going to "-". Great video man! For fun i steal my friend's scooter... hahah his face when he find key in pocket and actually I was drive his scooter :D

    Sorry for my English :P

  • I appreciate this video. It actually helped me work on my bike.

My ignition switch is broken and I needed to test my lights and this really helped.

    Thanks again for the video.

  • @GreenKata Glad to hear you found the video helpful. BTW my dog's name is Kata, but she's not green

  • I needed to know this for my webcomic.

    Thanks XD

  • @ReKrisB Cool man how bout a link?

  • @mrmaxstorey I will send one once it starts running... There's no *actual* comics up yet. XD

  • @ReKrisB Cool

  • wouldnt u get electrocuted from sticking a wire in there??

  • @duntonstables2009 Nope its only 12v a very weak current

  • @mrmaxstorey ohh ok mate can i ask where u got that piece of wire from ??

  • @duntonstables2009 Its a piece of speaker wire but it really doesnt matter I used a rolled up piece of tin foil once, even a paper clip will work

  • @mrmaxstorey aah thats handy ill use a paper clip :D , do all the white things have 3 slots on them ? and u put it in the 2 slots u put the wire in ?

  • @duntonstables2009 Lots of bikes are different, just play around with it youll get it

  • it didnt work unitl i made a hardy laugh like you did. THE LAUGH IS THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES HOTWIRING POSSIBLE!

  • @basshunter12 Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

    Just like that

  • i did this and i was riding and busted my ass cus the wire came ouut

  • @candlewood2951 Tape it next time

  • i hotwired my friends dirtbike all you have to do is rip out the ignition wires from the back of the switch and short them with a nail (connect one wire to one end and the other with the other) 2 kicks and i was off

  • @silentfox8 Yep basically the same process

  • What if it's a full fearing bike!?!?

  • @StreamingKnowledge wiggle your hand in there and find the wires

  • I really like this guy!!! :) he just got me a ducati!

  • does it harm the bike at all?

  • @XXNIKXX776 nope

  • @mrmaxstorey Might not work on the newest models though. Too bad I have a 2001 NSR 125

  • On new mopeds its just to break the connecting plastic, then ur all set. Dont have any power but it will start and run like normal.

  • Does this work for every bike or only a select few

  • @Vindacus The concept will work for almost every bike of this year. Lots of different bikes have different wiring, you may have to play around with it, use multiple wires to get it to work. Some manufacturers install anti-theft devices which make this process more difficult. However, mid-90s or older bikes are generally this easy to get going.

  • what about steering lock?

  • @SSridah83 Its actually really easy with a couple simple tools I'll let you figure that one out

  • @SSridah83 steering lock can be broken if you put your foot on one handle and push really really hard XD they are all made out of cast iron QQ at the designers for making such a easily bypassable "lock"

  • what size of wire would you recommend

  • @MrChurromaton Doesnt matter a small gauge would be fine, I used a rolled up piece of aluminum foil once.

  • is it any risk that i would shot down the electristy system?/battery?

  • @DJHeimar If your wire accidentally touches the frame you might blow a fuse, but you won't hurt anything. Wrap it up with a piece of tape and you are good to go.

  • It's that easy!

  • @theomnipresent1 Yes it is!

  • I have a fourwheeler than can be kick-started without the keys so long as you hold the back brake and the horn. lol

  • @english2me Haha thats ridiculous

  • Could you cut wire from the other side of the plastic conecter

  • @disgocrazy Yeah I guess but then this process isn't reversible, you'll have to repair the cut wire later down the road.

  • WHere can i get the wire from a normal house? lamps ect

  • @DJHeimar Really anything will work, I used a rolled up piece of tin foil once.

  • can you do this to a cbr 125

    2010?

  • @slutyboiiii Give it a shot, the concept is the same

  • my buell has 4 wires... same concept??? or do i need 2 extra pieces of wires now

  • @mcskatin Same concept but yeah you might need multiple wires. Just play around with it, you'll get it

  • where can u get those type of short piece of wire?

  • @fdzzxfgda Anywhere, this is a piece of speaker wire, but you can use a paper clip, rolled up piece of tin foil, pretty much anything.

  • @mrmaxstorey oh, thanks alot for the info :) , btw great video

  • @fdzzxfgda No prob good luck starting your bike

  • Nice video!!!

  • Very informational I lost the keys to my 95 zx6r and I'm hoping this will work any body know about running a toggle switch instead of keys?

  • @rabbitcat928 Nah man, toggle switches are so bush league and don't offer any theft protection for your bike. If you take off your seat lock, there is a stamped code on the bottom, and any decent locksmith can make you a new key form this code.

  • Trying to isolate reasons as to why my kz650 won't start. Has a fresh battery and the lights come on, it was suggested to ground the starter to the starter solenoid... Or something to that effect. This hotwiring trick would help cut out the ignition out of the equation, right?

  • @srosburg Yes, if the switch is bad then you can test it out by hotwiring the bike. However, I would test the solenoid first. Turn the bike on, and take a screwdriver and bridge the gap between the two largest leads on the solenoid. If your starter engages, then you probably have a bad solenoid. Take it out, and supply power to the two smallest leads. You should feel and hear it click. If not, then it is seized, time for a replacement.

  • @mrmaxstorey Alright, I did what you suggested and the solenoid is indeed seized. Ordering a new one tomorrow, I'm optimistic about the outcome. Thanks

  • @srosburg Cool that should sort you out. Now you know what to do for next time and you can help other guys out too.

  • haha that laughing made this video great

  • Now make a video on HOW TO STOP THEFT!

  • @RichasB Thats actually a good idea for my next how-to movie thanks dude

  • Man, how easy it was to steal shit back before they started taking preventative measures. Now you can't steal a bottle of Tylenol without an alarm going off. Which is good. Stealing is wrong.

  • @Ultimaxification Haha yeah and imagine what the next generation is going to say about today's online piracy, "man it was so easy to steal movies back then! Now you can't download a free movie without the secret police breaking down your door and dragging you off to Guantanamo Bay!"

  • your jokes, ur laugh done it (y)

  • thats if u own a bike over ten years old... I can hot wire a 90's jeep while wiping my ass. Dont get me wrong i love the bike its a classy machine but there are better safeguards these days

  • @andy2964 This movie is called how to hotwire A motorcycle, and that is exactly what it shows. If I called my movie how to hotwire ANY motorcycle then it would have to be 20 hours long. Sorry if my semantics failed to meet your expectations, but I guess you can't please everybody.

  • @andy2964 not disresepecting ur bike man but yes older bikes are easier to steal. My bad ur post was a bit more broad than I expected. Iv been trying to find ways to prevent my bike from being stolen and a AR15 is the best way but i can exactley carry that to the mall or work. Its good info for me so i appreciate it so i can catch something i might have otherwised missed. Im developing a low budget but effective security system. Seriously tho a wonderful bike. The fake chuckle is nice tho

  • @andy2964 No worries dude this was just a junk bike anyways, I fixed it up and traded it for my pickup, my regular ride is a GV1200 and that bike I have a wheel lock on the front, and when I travel I also chain the rear wheel thru the frame and around my truck's suspension... hasn't been stolen yet. Yeah this Seca is probably the easiest bike to hotwire that I have ever worked on, I was so surprised at how easy it is that I made this video.

  • what kind of wire do i need?

  • @freesylecollector Doesn't matter you could use an old bent paper clip if you wanted to, I have rolled up a piece of tin foil and used it to get home once when I lost my keys

  • @mrmaxstorey but is still not working.

  • @freesylecollector Well you gotta figure it out bro experiment a little

  • @mrmaxstorey but how do you know if you have the right port

  • @freesylecollector Like I said in the video the bike will click on, the lights will come on

  • does this work for old school ninjas?

  • @ninjasuzuki Kawasaki's are a little harder, I believe they have 5 wires and a couple more anti-theft safeguards. You just gotta get in there and experiment.

  • Does that work for gsxr's?? And if it does how many slots/options are there on the connectors? If you could give me a brief run down on how to do it I'd love you forever and thanks! Lol

  • @Sparkee202 Haha thanks for the offer for eternal love but I dont have a gixxer handy. Just do what I did and follow your wires back, pop off the connector and see what you see.

  • is that speaker wire?

  • @gnawaserge yep

  • @mrmaxstorey my gilera zulu has 6 wires now beat that 1

  • @mvz1991 How should I know I ride motorcycles not anemic little pitbikes. You figure it out.

  • @mrmaxstorey XD u even seachched it so lol its not a pit bike 2 stroke dirt bike

  • @mvz1991 Well then sounds like you have the internet skills to search for a wiring diagram...

  • @mrmaxstorey ;) i already know how to i just wanted to know if u know how to hot wire 6 cables

  • @mvz1991 Well friend can't say that I know off the top of my head, but the concept is the same you just gotta experiment with it. I wired up a Ninja a while back that had 5 wires, Seca bikes are just about as easy as they get but the basic principle is similar for most bikes.

  • @gnawaserge oh wow. thanks for the reply. hey i have a favor to ask. can you post a video describing how to turn the steer lock off ??

  • dont u gotta keep the wire in there when riding, otherwise if it loosens off ur ignition dies? Still a very obvious but cool way to start a bike

  • @Bulgdoom You got it, chum. Tape that bugger in there and you are good to go.

  • Nice vid BUT, with this method how do you disengage the steering lock?...

  • @0212149030 Its actually really easy, not featured in the video because I don't know anyone who locks their steering, but if you want to do it just unbolt the top triple tree clamp, take it off and invert it so the ignition sticks upside down. It should slide UP even if it is locked. With the clamp inverted you can still ride the bike away.

  • thanks man, finding that connector was a real bitch :P but it worked like a charm

  • Yamaha Seca II

  • what bike is that?

  • You had me at just want a new bike

  • @SuperHunter713 Haha thumbs up for that

  • nice

  • Will this work on a Yamaha Bruin 250 (QUAD) ???

  • @subjectmax Maybe, give it a shot

  • @mrmaxstorey I've had a look and instead of having 3 slots, i have four :S
