I just watched the inside story on this movie, the car was not a replica, it was borrowed for the scenes, perhaps the one that was destroyed was fake, but not the one they were driving. It wasn't even worth 1 million back then.
@tag1231000 wiki (which as we know is totally right about absolutely everything because anyone can edit semi-anonymously) says that is was fiberglass replica based on an MG.
I wonder if the 250GTO in this clip was real? If so, that car (one of only 39 examples made) is worth about $7,500,000+ in today's market. To the reporter: GET YOUR FOOT OFF THE CAR.
OMG! OMFG!! I've FOUND the SEQUEL TRAILER, dear friends!!! Go to the site atom dot com and search for "Ferris Bueller's Last Day Off," and YOU'LL FIND IT, TOO!!! (And I'm sure it's better than some Honda ad!!! :-D )
Funny thing is you can build this house for WELL under half that amount. Price is WAY too high, no wonder its been for sale for a year. Only a sucker would buy it. Great movie though....doesn't make me want the house any more....
The car I don't think was actually a real Ferrari... It was a BMW or something with a fiberglass sheell. It sold for about 60K, a real 250GT California sells for about 10 mill.
@TURBODORK2 The first time I ever watched this was in kindergarten..I remember flipping the channels and then stopping to see some crazy guy singing Twist and Shout on top of a float xD
i read somewhere the car in the movie wasnt really a ferrari. they didnt wanna massacre a ferrari that way so they just put the symbol on a jaguar. dont know if thats accurate or not.
ugh! he said illi-noise in the beginning, it makes my ears hurt, you can be shot for saying our state name like that.
Btw, that ferrari from the movie IS rare (less than 100 were made), the last one that sold at auction sold for 3 million, more than that house is worth.
PLEASE tell us that he didn't put the sole of his shoe on the hood of a 250GTO without a cloth or something in between. BTW, congratulations on owning one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made - way nicer than the GT California in the movie.
You'd think they'd drop a few bucks on paving the driveway.

Depending on how much that 'few thousand dollars more' is, it might be a hell of a deal for a 288GTO.

I think it was a Datsun replica not a jag, but yes there's no way a car as valuable as that was trashed.
