I just watched the inside story on this movie, the car was not a replica, it was borrowed for the scenes, perhaps the one that was destroyed was fake, but not the one they were driving. It wasn't even worth 1 million back then.

The car I don't think was actually a real Ferrari... It was a BMW or something with a fiberglass sheell. It sold for about 60K, a real 250GT California sells for about 10 mill.

A LOT more than Frye's house.
