Technique: Partial Embossing with the Cuttlebug

I just bought the new cuttlebug. Wasn't sure of what neat techniques I could use with it, so thanks for sharing your ideas and tips.

I would like to see how to partial emboss a shape such as a large oval, in the center of the card. I have seen this done but forgotten how it was achieved. I think some sort of mask was used on the plates?
