i Love this video! when i'm feeling down, or looking for a spritiual lift , every single time i watch, without fail, at 2:53 i get goosebumps, and my mind wonders about space and our Heavenly Father's creations. I think thats what I love the Book of Moses 1:33 when Heavenly Father says " and worlds without number have I create; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten"
@bagon98 We have an expression in the church; There can be no testimony without a test. If everything were perfect things would not require faith, prayer & relying on our Heavenly Father. So these trials & tribulations we go through are meant to build us. In the Book of Mormon it says that God will never test us above what we are able to withstand. Some people can withstand more than others because theyre stronger...but only with our Heavenly Fathers help.
I love the message this is trying to give :) I hope that everyone on this page gets along well enough, because conflict over this kind of stuff is really silly, we're all humans ^^
@GirliqueDownUnder The scriptures teach us that we lived with God before we were sent to earth. Here are just a few examples. Ecclesiastes 12:7 says "... and the spirit shall return to God who gave it." The prophet Isaiah taught us "Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens... he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein." (Isa 42:5) And my personal favourite is Jeremiah 1:5 which says "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee..."
@poppetjin That's to avoid the typical youtube fights that always ensue, causing pointless drama and hurt feelings. That's not 'interesting' at all, just smart.
It wasn't Sir Arthur Eddington who said “…the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine.” It was the British astrophysicist Sir James Jeans who wrote it in the 1930s.
@GirliqueDownUnder The doctrine that we lived with God before this life is a unique truth restored to the earth today. Many have wondered: where did we come from? The beauty of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is that it bears truths that have been lost, or overlooked. Even from Biblical times. Many precious answers about who we are, why we are here, and where we are going can now be found. I invite you to continue looking into this, as I have come to know, for myself, it is true.

If we lived with God, whats with all the pain, natural disasters killing all your loved ones. LEaving you the last one alive in your family. IF you were that kid, youd say otherwise. In your rich, lives full of love, theres another side full of pain. Realizing God wont even help us in a time of need. God creates killers that could kill anything. Think. Personally im a secular humanist, dont even try converting anyone else into a religion there not. I was sent this, trying to find out what i am.
@bagon98 I feel sorry for your ignorance, which is not the same as saying stupidity. I mean that you have no idea what the real truth is. You only see what you want to see because you have lived a life of pain. But you have to remember something. It is SATAN that creates killers and secular humanists, not GOD. God would have us protect, love, and cherish one another. Satan would have us live for ourselves, for pleasure, and for personal gain and to hell with anybody else. Find the truth.
@Ozarka0 You always speak of truth, but you never offer any. You make these extraordinary claims about the nature of reality, but all you have to back them up is hearsay and centuries-old propaganda. There is no evidence of a creator. There is no evidence of miracles. There is no evidence of Satan. You base your lives on presuppositions that have no basis in reality. That's not what I call truth.
@ProjectThunderclaw There is no evidence of a creator? When you go to a museum, and look at the exhibits, would you say there is no evidence they were created by someone? Did they just mysteriously appear out of no where? Wow! Look around you. You will see the evidence of a creator everywhere!
im mormon and i absolutely know the earth isnt 7,000 years old...the church teaches us to be rational, and of course its not that old..we have fossils and many things that prove it isnt that new. the bible says it was created in 7 days, but it doesnt say earth days, now does it? :P one earth day is measured by one full rotation of the earth...but one day in the sense it was used could mean anything. it really is too obvious that this earth took a great amount of time to form. it just makes sense
These are incredible pictures of the unending magnitude of space, &it boggles the mind to think that God (the Father) is creator &sustainer of it all! He was called Jehovah, or I AM, at that time, but not Jesus yet. That came later when w/Mary's help, the invisible became VISIBLE! Remember the book of John, was written AFTER Jesus was glorified, one with the Father again. No doubt He was inspiring from His higher, broader, all-knowing perspective by then. Read Isaiah9:6, John1:18, 5:37, &14:6-10
it is completely unbiblical to believe we lived with God before we were born, we did not exist, that is why child bearing is important to create souls, so they can love and serve jesus.
@mattbrandt69 Souls are eternal, a soul can neither be created nor destroyed, but has always existed. We came to this earth through child bearing with the purpose of receiving a body, having eternal families, and returning to our Father in Heaven.
I just listened this morning and what a great way to wake up on a Monday. Thank you for sharing your perspective and your beliefs. I too have always viewed learning about science on how God created the world and the universe. The more I learn, the more I realize how much we don't know. As I touch, if for a moment, a piece of Gods understanding of the universe in each new speck of knowledge I gain, I am awestruck at the wonderful creation, the Universe.
To me these are universal truths that everyone should find in common with one another. I guess people don't like the trinity thing. Read these scriptures and tell me how they are all one in the same, because these tell me the opposite. John 20:17 Hebrews 1:1-3 Matthew 26:39 Matthew 10:33-36 John 12:49-50 John 8:42 Mark 1:10-11 Luke 3:21-23 Matthew 3:15-17 Hope this doesn't come across wrong. Just my beliefs and show me they are seperate beings united in purpose.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doesn't have a position on the age of the earth. Individual Mormons have different beliefs about this.
@drummaryan the book of mormon actually teaches a lot about God and his hand in peoples lives. You can maybe read that and see what you feel about it.:)
@drummaryan The trinity IS a man-made concept. It was made at the council of Nicaea in 325. You're NOT following the LORD's teachings, you're following man-made superstitions. You're in no position to lecture other Christians.
The idea of a young earth is an old notion that comes from other religious writers who assembled some timelines from the bible and claimed they pointed to a fairly recent creation. Mormons have never believed that. For example, they hold to the translation of seven days being seven creative periods, certainly not literal days. I don't know of a specific statement by the church leaders on the age of the earth, but certainly they believe it is very old. No conflict there with modern science :)
I thought Mormons believed that the Earth is only around 6,000 years old, which has been disproved by science. Can anyone please confirm how old the Earth is according to the Mormon church? Or for that matter, how old is the human species? Thanks in advance...
@crusader92 The LDS (Mormon) church does not have an official view on how old the Earth is, but does believe that Adam and Eve lived approximately 6,000 years ago. This doesn't mean that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago, in fact many church members believe the earth is millions of years old. Again, the church does not have an official statement on the age of the earth and leaves these views to the discretion of its members.
@crusader92 I have been a member of the LDS church all my life and I have never been taught, heard of or come across any teachings that that tell us exactly how old the Earth is. Some members may make estimations, though I have never heard of them doing so, but there is no official mormon teaching that the Earth is any number of years old.
@Swirlygirl101 Thanks Jessica and everyone. YouTube didn't notify me that I got all these replies. I thought my comment had not been approved. I personally think that if Adam and Eve really existed, this had to be more than 6,000 years ago because the differences between whites, blacks, Asians, etc. are too big to have occurred in that amount of time. In fact, according to a DNA study, blonde hair is well over 6,000 years old. Anyway, thanks again to everyone for the kind replies! Steven
@crusader92 The Mormon church has no beliefs on the age of either earth or a human species. Although they believe that God-time and Earth-time are different.
@crusader92 Hello, I was born into the Mormon Church and was pretty faithful up until I was 18, I'm 20 now but I'm still pretty knowledgeable about Mormon Doctrines. Mormons don't claim to know how old the earth is....the 6,000 year number, to my understanding, is about how long ago Adam and Eve were banned from the Garden of Eden. So, the earth could be billions of years old and still be in harmony with their faith.
@greyson120 You know when the Bible talks about time, it does not speak of continuous time. There could have been many breaks, not unlike a class, and then a lab. Moreover, I am sure that the Bible is talking about Gods time, not mans. So I have no problem with God/Man/Earth time. It all seems to fit.
We believe that death and procreation began with Adam and Eve.How long did they walk in the Garden before they fell and became mortal? We do not know. We do not believe in creation "ex nihilo", rather that the earth and all the cosmos were organized from elements that have always existed. As far as I know, the "Mormon Church" has not dated the creation of the earth.
The Mormon church does not claim to know the 'true' age of the earth, and as far as I know, has not ventured an opinion. Individual members may express opinions, but they are only opinions. We do believe that the 'human species', 'sons and daughters of God', were present with God before the earth was formed, but we claim no knowledge as to how long that was.
@Badelier That's not what D&C 77 says badelier, and you should be careful about pulling more out of the scriptures than what the first presidency knows themselves. The earth is billions of years old. There is not a hint of sarcasm or "I know more than you" when I say this, but you might really enjoy a few geology courses! If you cared enough to comment on the video you might have a natural interest in science!
@Badelier Actually it doesn't say that the Earth is 7000 years old. I am not going to presume to know how old the earth actually is, but I read that passage and I did not get that.
@crusader92 There's no consensus on it. Personally from my studying from scriptures, I come to see time as relative and that God simply uses it as a tool more than anything elses. I'm not mormon by the way but I still tried this. And i felt truly significant the way I felt when praying to my heavenly father. Try it.
