I think the maine problems with this division is promoting,the Kingpin Money May and Oscar"Fishnets" Dela Hoya. First off most of these dudes should be fighting each other like there is no tommorrow and not fighting tomato cans. Second Money is too damn good. He don't have to fight a Cotto or Williams because he knows what's up. I can't be mad at him. Thirdly Oscar is manipulating the division and turning it into the GoldenBoy reality network.

A tough loss for Williams, to a man that was absolutely punished by Miguel Cotto. No sense of urgency at all in the later rounds by Paul Williams to overcome the countless left hands he ate in the early stages of the fight. I'm not to sure where this puts either fighter in terms of next opponent. A must win for both guys in their next fight no matter who they fight. Paul needs a quick rebound to build confidence and Carlos needs to prove hes no fluke. Thanks for the show guys, keep it up.

quintana was not a lesser fighter. Quintana is a great fighter. who has great skill. he lost to cotto so what. The division is packed. Just that you got. Cintron IBF welterweight title. Margarito WBO {Inter-Continental} welterweight title.Cotto WBA welterweight title Floyd WBC welterweight title Quintana WBO welterweight title. all of those men are great to watch. Then you got up and comers busting into the division so that weight is good for years to come in boxing.

But mate, its still competitive. Apart from the 2 I mentioned, you could imagine all the others beating each other in fights that would be of a decent standard. Williams might have been poor, but Quintana fought a good fight to win that bout. Same went for Williams beating Margarito, and Margarito beating Cintron.

Whether the standards quite as good as people thought is a different matter, in terms of producing big fights its a good division. Agree about lightweight, tho, although even there Juan Diaz stands out and you have a combination of fading stars and prospects.

A big reason why this is a great game, just take a look at the pound for pound best boxers, Floyd, Manny, Juan Manuel, B-hop, calzaghe. You get people from all colors and parts of the world. In the end its not about race, its about heart, dedication and hard work. If you want it bad enough, It doesnt matter who you are. Most of the times I find myself cheering for both guys in the fight, just wanting to see a hard fought, action fight,with both fighters laying it all out there. Gotta love boxing
