The "ornamental chili plant" you show at 1:20 looks to be a tabasco pepper plant... I could be wrong, but that is what mine looks like... the peppers point upward
@jmac10986 I dont know. All my seeds came from either a nursery where a friend gave me some fresh chilis and I seeded them or fresh chilis that I bought from the oriental market. One exception was the habaneros I grew which were from habaneros I bought from the grocery store and planted the seeds. Regardless they are all yummy. Love them chopped up on pulled pork sandwiches or in a stirfry.
Yea, same for me too - where are you though?? I'm in the UK.
Here is a video from last year, some of the plants I was growing - we especially liked "Bomber" the Chili Bomb plant with his almost spherical chillies!
This year I'm going to do Birdseyes and Rocoto and Bomber babies :)
love your plants and garden dude and what a view lol grown my own chilli plants for first time this year amazing how is it is more people should grow there own food
@Beverlyann738 Thanks for the info. I seen some sites like that and got the recipe for Carrabas "Chicken Bryan" which is yummy. Take care and thanks for commenting.
@underoath2k7 The one that is hanging in the middle (upside down) I planted in early 2009 and it is still producing chilis over a year later. It looked like it was nearly dead after winter but it came back and fruited again and is still producing chilis. (you can see it in the vid (noob chili plants 2010). If you protect it from freeze and trim the limbs that are dead it might make it for a few years I guess. The hanging is the oldest I have. I guess its around 14-15 months old.
@Daimond222 I idid for a few. There is a place you can get free compost here. It did all right. Was constantly weeding it, it seemed. Same with the cheap potting soil. Didnt have as much weed problem and have to admit the plants grew easier with Miracle Gro Potting soil or a mix of the above it seems. The compost didnt hold the moisture as well as the potting soil either. Might just be all in my mind too ; ) Experiment with 6 potted plants, 2 ea with each type of soil and see what happens.
Great chilli's you got growing! I've been trying to grow them but being english mine have been rubbish probably due to the weather. How long do the plants last for by the way, and whats the best sort of temp? Tomato plants need buckets of water all the time, thats one thing that does grow like wildfire in england!
nice

@craigfromnewcastle Im on the Gulf Coast of Florida. South of Tampa.
If you have an Oriental market you can pick up fresh "thai" type chilis there and get the seeds usually.
