  • Also what did she die from? I heard nematod infection, am I correct? I'm a student in biology and infections and diseases interest me.

  • @PF718 Thanks!

  • @PF718

Oh sorry you're new to Ts. The vagans ended up being a mature male (in the hobby we code them as MM). As you'll learn about Ts, mature males are only used for breeding since their lifespans are very short (5-6 fold different from females).

What I meant that he got "munched", he was loaned off to Tarantula Canada, one of Canada's best dealers for Ts for breeding and the female got him.

The only T that suffered from nematode infection was an adult female A.versicolor.

  • @Jon3800 That's O.K. I was just wondering about the nematode infection, if it can be transfered to your new T but since the substrate was cleaned it's o.k. then. I live in Lanaudière 1 hour from Montreal and I just bought 2 weeks ago a Brachypelma bohemei (forgot the spelling) from Tarantula Canada and I intend on getting one or 2 of her new arrivals. Their are very passionate about their Ts and I learned alot in just 1 hour or 2. Thanks!

  • Hello, I'm new in the T world and I enjoy your videos, they're very educationnal. I was wondering, when you changed the enclosure for you B. vagans did you change the substrate and cleaned out the enclosure because of the infection of you other T? I don't have experience with T infections or diseases but personnaly I would have change and disenfected everything before the transfer. I have a few exotic pets and I know that when I have a new one, they are quarantined and old cages are disenfected.

  • @PF718

If I can remember what I did that day... Normally I do change everything , but in this enclosure I didn't because the substrate was freshly changed no more than a week before taking the video, so no sense of chucking over fresh substrate...as you saw, I just removed the webbing and put the other T in.

In general Ts are very clean animals unless they poop like the arboreals. Now, the C.fasciatum is still alive and well (in a 6L shoebox), vagans ended up being a MM and got muched

  • MAN I LOVE YOUR VIDS!!! i did not know u could use the same substrate. and wow she was a pain!

  • Really funny vid Jon iam getting my vagins 6cm tomorrow :)

  • Got to Rehouse my OBT and L.Para today, thats going to be fun lol.

  • When I relocate my spiders I always prepare small box in case spiders tries to escape. I can cover the runner with it to caputre it. Fasciatum is very likely to do so. This spider's behaviour is quite bizzare. Its usually deep underground but when you try to move it it tries to escape. IMO in most cases its worse than pokies.

  • Hey can u give me some tips when a spider is about to molt since my friend just got a new born

  • see my video on how to care for a pre molt and post.

Basic signs: webbing a lot, not eating, fading colors, dark bald spot on abdomen. keep it well hydrated and resume feeding it 4-5 days after it molts

  • lol she was so fast! Chris :)

  • Jon, My B. Albopilosum seems to be webbing a corner of her enclosure a lot. I just got her today so, is she just making things her own or is she getting ready to molt? Thanks Jon!

  • very likely

  • Thanks Jon, She, now discovered to be a He, did molt. Oh well, at least I can give him a good life. Oh Jon, you told me to update you on my B. Vagans molt. She has molted successfully and looks great!

  • Congrats on the molt. Try to find a female for your albo so you can breed it. MM's are happier when they are mating.

That's why I gave my MM P.formosa to T.Canada... while I can take good care of him, he wont be happy in my care. I'd rather do the hobby good than keeping it

  • Nice! I have a B.Vagans too and she's about to molt! Fingers crossed it goes well. Anyway, nice video 5/5

  • best of luck, keep me posted. Just make sure she gets plenty of water, and feed her after a week.

  • Sure will! Thanks again Jon. Your collection is amazing!

  • Oh Jon by the way, I am also getting a Brachypelma Albopilosum female. Yay!

  • yay :P

  • hey jon. I'm really thinking about a haplopelma lividum. can you give me some tips please. I'm also thinking of a curly hair too.

  • give it lot of substrate and keep it warm and humid. These are extremely fast and extremely defensive Ts. Once it starts digging, you will not likely see it for weeks

  • thanks. one more question. is it diffucult to transfer them into their new cage? Am i likely to get bit?

  • it's a very difficult species to transfer because of its aggressiveness, and there is an elevated risk of getting bitten. Every move you make has to be accurate and precise.

  • cool video! I found out my T is a boy, no sperm sac, small abdomen, long legs, the petapalps are fat, and the hooks.

  • sucks Ian, im so sorry

  • yeah, I know they don't live long

  • Happens man 3 of my current ones are male. one is not MM. but sub adult

my old pinktoe was male also

R>I>P old MM pinktoe fuzzy was his name I think lmao

  • Sorry you're pinktoe died. I had 3 tarantulas, 2 chilean rose tarantulas and a pinktoe. I still have one chilean rose and his name is Blake. My other chilean rose that died was a female but i gave her a boy name lol. My pinktoe was a male too.

  • LOl im gunna have a fun time with P. Regalis 1.5" slings and 3" P miranda... wish I had a camera.

Glad I got a paintbrush & tongs now

  • DO you ever house your spiders in see through plastic Shoe box enclosures? right now im testing them out so far they work good

  • no i don't

  • on your other spider that died.

  • Sorry for your lost.

  • yo jhon thts prettty funny man how long did it take to trasfer tht one

  • 3 minutes lol

  • your B vagans looks 3-4 inches john

  • its 2.5 inches actually

  • O well nice coloraton ~!! for a 2.5" B vagans! mine burrowed to much when it was that size & hair kicked a lot

  • hi jon3800

my videos don't seem to be generating any interest whatsoever. should i change topics?

did anyone even like you t vids to begin with?

    thanks

  • thats how i became popular

  • I'm kinda glad your C. fasciatum escaped so I could see what its speed and movement's like. I just got mine last Wednesday @ barely 1/4 of an inch (if that :), it's tiny and cute, but has already taken down 2 pinhead crickets. I'm looking forward to seeing it grow.

  • they're fast growing and hungry eaters. A true beauty

  • Anna's a beauty

  • thanks

  • Your vagans looks really calm. My vagans really hates touching him, even when i touch it gently with painbrush - it's always getting pissed, and attacking. :X

  • Ya, Ive seen mine do that

  • Hey matey i just ordered 3 new babys. :-) One of them is the tiger rump like yours. :-) 1(Lasiodora klugi) 2 / Mexican Beauty - (Brachypelma boehmei) / 3Tiger Rump - (Cyclosternum fasciatum)

  • sweet man

  • great transfer video Jon and wow your C.fasciatum sure is fast running across your bathroom floor.

  • ya she was

  • Lol @ 3:40 -"I'm just goin' for a stroll..."

My Vagans is a real hair kicker too, I lift the lid and it tries to escape then when I prevent it from doing so it hairs the hell out me...I've on;y had it 2 weeks and it's nearly bald on it's abdomen because of it's enthusiasm for hairing me.

  • Hahaha, those two's "cooperation" was soooo cute! Fasciatum's like "Nah-uh! That smells of vagans!!" Now you have a new cage available for one of the many slings you got!

  • ive just looked at her again and looke dat pics on the net she aint got a blck v on her so i had a look at bohmei pictures and she looks identical

  • it could be Aphonopelma bicoloratum.

  • Heya Jon. Im planning on getting a tarantula soon. I really want one that webs a lot... like a lot. Any suggestions on what I should check out?

  • C.Cyanopubescens the Green Bottle Blue. They really web like hell or try Avics. They web a lot but they're up the cage. They kind of like make a secret tree house. :D

  • green bottle blue

  • LOL, C.fasciatum ran away. This is why I love transfers. :)

  • ive had a good like at her and i think lookin at pics i found on the net its not an emillia

  • oh ya jon i was at a reptile expo today in new jersey and i got this really awesome red eyed tree frog, and also, i saw pink toes and rose hairs for 15$ each. is tht a good price?

  • thats about right

  • lol i so my name when u were showing the comments!!!

  • Im really worried, i live in north canada. im worried about when i get my turantula what enclosure i should give it and if i can keep the temperature up

  • ive done a video of it it's all black with orange legs

  • prob bohmei

  • i had that happen with my b.albopilosum. For some reason mine is a spaz

  • is it a juvie?

  • ya probablly 3 inch maybe 2 1/2

  • im sure she'll mellow out

  • Im sure she/he will. If not its ok i have some pretty grumpy ow Ts that can out do her lol

  • I've seen it, but I just wish you would have opened up the cage so I can take a good look at it .

  • you have?

  • are ya gettin sick Jon?

  • I was sick for the past couple of weeks

  • thanks for the shout out mate i got a new t today a female juvie red leg what is the proper name for it mate

  • Hi Edward,

Its very impossible for me to tell what species you got without seeing a picture or a video.

The Redleg common name applies to so many species like B.boehmei, B.emilia, B.smith (some petstores use this) A.bicoloratum, B.baumgarteni or M.robustum. This is why I despise the common names and use the scientific names instead

It could be B.emilia, does it have the black triangle?

  • you know...now after this video, everybody would be askin' for shoutouts

  • ya for sure...everyone's asking me already

  • Your vagans didn't seem that aggressive, you could of just held it.

  • I could have, but I don't fully trust vagans to handle

  • Whats a Knee-mit- toad Infection?

  • nematode.. its .worms infection

  • ultem: Nematodes are all worms in the phylum of animals known as Nematoda. A more common name for them is "round worms". The majority of them are parasites of plants and/or animals. Some can be beneficial for agricultural purposes, since some species have the ability to kill garden pests, while others can be the pests. Remember, this is a phylum of animals, like Arthropods, Cephalopods, or Chordates (the one we're in), so we're not talking about one species of animal here.

  • We're talking about thousands of species.

  • Gotta get me a Camera lolz =((

  • i am rehousing my h. lividum on Tuesday, i am not looking forward to it..... but on the plus side i do get my 3 red rump slings. so should be quite an interesting day..... If i get time i will try and give my L.P slings another video update.

  • thats sweet, good luck on ur transfer. Take it really slow

  • Comment removed

  • i dont know man, whatever you see fit :)

  • now that I've lost one...yeah

  • Thanks for the shoutout!

  • Can you tell if a cricket has nematoads?

  • its hard as they are small
