I had him from a month old. And I made sure to handle him gently from time to time, let him climb around on me. So he was not scared around humans and would often climb on the back of visitors. Only with me around to make sure they did not get scared. My mom looked after him when I was in active army duty. So she could handle him as well.
I had 2 got both as babies one live to age 19 the other to 16 both stayed in a huge outdoor run with waterfall trees and shady spots in the summer they would follow the sun all day they are awesome animals but a lot of work to make a nice environent for them not for the inexperenced or children mime were 6 feet long so they need a big room when they are adults. Love this video makes me miss my iguanas though
Sounds awesome for them :) Mine had a big display with logs and water for him. He was pet store pet, and even trough I did everything I could to feel him right(part from the chips, only got those like 2 or 3 times) he was not able to rebuild prober. He was a month when I got him, already he had a deform toe.
This Iguana suffered from a calcium deficiency due to an inadequate diet. You can see it in shortened it's lower jaw, and his front legs- they look muscular but they are deformed. The muscles knot up like that to make up for fragile deformed bones.
I know that. I found out after I got him, that his one leg two was deformed. We tried to give him extra calcium trough his diet, both by rich calcium foods and suplement. He always ate well and was happy moving around the place or bask in the sun or his heatspots. Loved his dayli bath. If I ever get a second one, I want one from a prober breeder. Not a pet store.
That is really cute. I have an iguana now named Reptar, i just got him about a year ago. I had an iguana named baby and when i moved to hawaii, the fucking Department of Agriculture said he coudnt come here. I was devistated, but im glad to have a new one. One time i left my peanut butter sandwich on the table and when i came back it was gone with baby still chewing. He also loved fried rice. I rarely fed it too him but sometimes my guilt took over. I like this video (:
I tried to reply to this a few times... and my computer won't let me. I feed them... Danelion greens, collard greens, swiss chard, radiccio, butternut squash, green beans, zucchini, sweet potatos for treats dandelion flowers (yellow ones) watermelon, Musk, honey dew melon, kiwi, and very rarely banana's. I have a website I help people with there reptiles on...
iguana's with proper diet can live to be well over 15. I have two that are 19 years old now. That is with PROPER care. Kidney disease can be caused by improper feeding and feeding things that arn't good for them... like junk food, dog/cat foods.... He was a good looking iguana though. Sorry for ur loss.
He was feed mustly greens. Fruit, vegies and fresh leaves. All homegrwon. At winter he got a extra vitamin suplie. He was a tjeck at the wet now and then. Everything was fine. I guess just like all other amimals/humans they can get some kinda illness that, in small animal cases we just cant help them out.
I am looking in getting new one at some point. When I have more time. I am intr. in what kinda food yours where getting?
@chamzilla1 thats cool u take good care of ur iguanas btw i have two baby iguans i cant tell if there male or female and i dont want any more so i dont want to have to deal withs babys and sometimes the bigger iguana chases the smaller one do u have any suggestions or ideas and how often should i feed them thanks.
I feel sorry for U Dev, Ur lizard was marvelous, he felt so good by Ur side & U with him. It's an example 4 those who don't know d truth about'em get d awareness dat lizards feel too, & get ill too, & need vet treatments as any other pet need'em. Congrats 2 take care of him, I'd love my Iggys were as tender as Ur kindly Iggy was but I must be patience, I rescued'em maltreated & almost going through agonies from an animal store. That's why I think Ur relationship with Iggy is all an example.
LOL X^D one word SPOILED!! I know 'cause my Iggy looks just like that. she dose the same reaching thingy when I occasionaly feed her chips and 'cause the eyes look very soft and adorable:^)
