Unless I missed it, you didn't mention how the car rides over bumps and quietness, which I think are important considerations for people buying a car like this.
How did you feel it compared to other large cars in that regard?
The Lights are BUILT in the REAR VIEW MIRROR for extra front lighting. WHat is your take on the 2010 V-6 2.7 Chrysler 300 compared to the Impala? I cannot believe you're talking about a design that has been out since 2006 a bare bone version. Most reviewers use high end trimmed new car models. You pick a Fleet vehicle. THe price of this car was only 19K delivered after rebates. Great Deal for a family!
I just wanted to suggest you try out the LTZ model of this car if you get a chance. I noticed a signicant difference between the two. I actually didn't much care for this model, but really enjoy the LTZ.
@RightInTheEyeBall I'll see if I can find one. I've not been driving cars in the show for a few months because the weather has been so bad here. However I have managed to post three other shows for a different channel I work with... I did post them here. There are three tours of shops. Two of Vance & Hines Motorsports in Indiana and the other is of Shelby America in Las Vegas. Theroadcarreview
The Impala is outdated and i believe is being discontinued. it is using one of the last push rod V6's, and actually doesn't have anymore power then most four cylinders today, and it's still using a 4 speed, Fuel economy can be way improved in this underpowered 3.5, also why don't you put the camera down while you're driving before you kill somebody.
@Zinizzle Have you actually driven an Impala? The pushrod 3500 doesn't need that many gears with its ample torque. It's also not as antiquated as you think, since it has variable valve timing to reduce emissions and improve economy. Fuel economy is on par with Toyota Camry V6, and not that far off from a Camry I4. DOHC and 24 valves would bring lots of horsepower way up in the RPM range, but the Impala is made to waft along in comfort. The 3500 and 3900 do that job well.
@cheezgrated I may be an unfair driver of the car. I enjoy performance cars and that is all I own. I enjoyed driving the Impala for business because of the gas mileage, size and fuel capacity. Would I own one myself? It really depended on what I was going to do with it. As a commuter nope, but as a standard business car yes I would, Personal car, not the model I drove. Antiquated in the standard features. Not much there. But a good solid vehicle.
Overall this car is a solid car, and it is only good for everyday long distance highway driving. I usually don't like American cars because they are all cheaply built. But, the 2010 Impala is above average because of the reshuffling of the auto industry. An Europian car could get the same power from a 2 cylinder engine. Pressing on the gas won't give any power for about a second or so because the automatic gearbox is subpar - nothing, nothing, nothing, downshift, sudden jump, slow acceleration.
@operationcwaI789789 that's not true. european engines focus on HP - which is engine work. torque is engine power. alot of european 2 cylinders achieve their high hp from high rpm, which means they have low down end torque
I have had a '06 Chevrolet Impala LT since May '09, and I am so underwhelmed by it, I just bought a '07 Honda Accord EX-L V6. My Impala did not come with the optional antilock brakes, so the brakes lock up and the car skids in emergency braking situations. The Accord has four wheel anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution, so it stops in a much shorter distance than the Impala. The Accord kicks the shit out of the Impala in every way except two: trunk space and AUX plug on the radio.
Plain looking design? I LOVE THE APPEARANCE! I want to rant all day on how queer looking all the other manufacturers cars look in comparision to this in this class. New cars just look very, very extremely gay and intensely feminine in styling in my opinion except these impalas look more classic and tough, I definitely want one when my 98 lumina with nearly 300k has something break on it. GM FTW
I do agree it needs a little more going on as far as inside features are concerned, the reason I'm getting one is because it is super afordable for a 08, 09 model, it would of been nice to at least have a sunroof without having to buy the more expensive ss or ltz model
Please, please please get better camera work. this was so cheaply made. I don't care if my english grammar is correct or not, but to do a better review, show more of the car as you talk about it. Not 9 minutes of looking at your face through a camera phone held up by tape or whatever.
@TheGreatBender It was just the style of the piece. You are looking at the pilots. Look at the introduction video this entire piece was a test built from driving rental cars...I drove 9 hours each week for work and rented a car. The review was on the rental. I have a 1920 X 1080 digital camera as well as a Canon XL1.. They've got better however after 4 weeks of working on the project I've stopped developing the program because I no longer work for the company I was renting the cars for.
Thanks for this vid. This is very informational. I've been looking for something like this about this for the longest. I'm about to purchase one actually. Thank you for this!
It has the two lights under the Rear View Mirror!

Thanks for the insight. It's been over a year since this test drive was completed but a good add on to those that will be conducted here on.
As I recall it was a smooth ride, fairly quiet, great gas mileage for the size and the range was incredible.

THe appearance is so much better than the Charger it's not even funny. If I was a police officer I would go with the Impala.

@Zinizzle 211 hp from a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 isn't underpowered
