  • Thanks for putting this together! I really liked it.

I have a stupid question though: when the 8th regenerated into the 9th, he looked like Christopher Eccleston. But that was years before Eccleston actually played the Doctor. How is it possible that when Eccleston was revealed in the '80s, he looks the same as in 2004 (I think that's when season 1 started)?

  • The next doctor has to be ginger.

  • Next doctor should be Homer Simpson or Darth Vader.

  • I think the 12 doctor should be Simon pegg

  • @Ogamercatt "Ginger at last!"

  • @Ogamercatt But simon pegg was already on doctor who

  • If you want to get technical, we never see Troughton regenerate into Petwee, Troughton is spinning off into the distance as "War Games" fades to black.

  • @Lcaker9 I've thought about that myself. I think since River gave him all of her regenerations, he has some extra. Maybe all of her future regeneration energies were used to bring him back from the dead, but surely there must be some left over from her what, 11 remaining regenerations? I'm not sure if I'm right, but I have some hope for more than 13 doctors.

  • when you look at old reg's today's are masterpiece

  • the thumbnail is disturbing

  • Erickson regenerates : awww id like him, oh well.

Tennant regeneration : [inserrt darth vader nooooooooooo]

When matt smith regenerates : [insert V-J day new york footage]

  • Everybody just remember that Timelords don't die they just regenerate. :) LOL! :)

  • @CelesteK

they do die, once there lives are up or they get to hurt to regenerate

  • @roxmasoxproduction Actually I think that the only actor who's Dr Who character died was David Peterson oh and Jon Pertwee. I could be wrong. The only Dr Who who didn't die was Patrick Troughton who was banished to the Earth.

  • @CelesteK

    lol

    you mean Peter Davidson?

also, death and regeneration are 2 different things

  • @roxmasoxproduction I know. That's why I say "Timelords don't die. They just regenerate themselves."

And "oh oops." LOL!!! That's who I mean. :)

  • David Tennant, I thought, was the youngest one to play the Doctor and William Hartnell was the oldest one to play the Doctor?

  • u missed out eighth to ninth :P

  • #1. First doctor regenerates while the Tardis plays fitting music. #2. I'm so drunk I'm dying! #3. FAIL #4. Zzzzz.. #5. WRINKLES #6. I need to stop drinking and regnerating. #7:. Yay crappy special effects!! #8. DAMN-FACE-STOP-TWITCHING #9....... #10: New face, lets go to barsolona. #11: Epic music plays, everyone cries, Tardis explodes.
  • 7 to 8 is lol!! XDDDD

  • 0:52 it's facing us (from our screens, then in 0:55 , it turns

  • is it you're making me giddy, or dizzy?

  • awwwh the special effects in the olden days are too cute (:

  • LOL the second one was well funny! "NOOOO NOOOO YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME, NOOOOO!" Wow he looked like a spinning top!!!

  • 20 people regenerated into an ugly old fatty.

  • @Lewpetlols haters gotta hate

  • @Lewpetlols no change there

  • i love how in most cases the doctor looks younger but is getting older in each regeneration

  • The oldest actor played the doctor at his youngest now the youngest actor played the doctor at his oldest.

  • @Sombrafox1 Dude, that was actually an interesting remark, maybe there is something to this :/

  • @Sombrafox1

    Paradox ! We're in it.

  • you call doctorwho1994 a waste of time there are tones of other and better regeneration tributes

  • no matt is like 20

  • @guesswho14teen hes 27 i think

  • Is it just me or have they been getting younger,

    and now matt smith hmm....

  • Sounds like he saids giggy instead of dizzy :s

  • @JeromeIsTheMan Giddy is what he said. They used tht word in the 60s.

  • 'Your making me giddy'. Aww <3 you Doctor Two.

  • run for your life

    !

  • Seven to eight looks like the Highlander quickening!

  • Some were quite gross lol

  • I don't the regeneration form 4 to 5!

  • The 6th doctor looks like a clown

  • Will Ferrell at 1:36 !!!!!

  • BETWEEN 4 AND 5 WAS JUST CREEPY!

  • no you cant do this to me! you cant make me dizzy! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I'M DIZZY! MY LIFE IS RUINED!

  • This is relevant to my interests,,,,,

  • the doctors go yonger eatch time o.o"

  • @zECA02468 umm no he didnt the actors ages went something like this

    55 ( i think) - 40 - 50 - 40 - 29 - 36 - 40- 38- 40- 37 - 26 lol :P i think that was about there ages when they took over soo no he didnt just get younger :P lol

  • Were is 9-10-11?

  • @yuz22andarnoldrocks2 > Well, seeing as how this video was posted in 2006, we wouldn't have the 10th to 11th transition, now would we?

  • it is brilliant,no other words for it.

  • seven to eight make me think of highlander^^ lol

  • Sooo if the Doctor keeps regenerating and gets younger almost every time, will we eventually have a toddler for a Doctor?

  • @LucindaxAnne lol

  • @LucindaxAnne Maybe we'll have a twelve-year old, and then it rebounds back and he starts getting older

  • I liked seconds. no,no,no,no...

  • so after this current incarnation of the Doctor, we have one more and thats it?

  • @jaymz010 two actually.

  • @trollheimer

Actually they're more likely to change the 12 rule to something higher because of the hit it's become. The amount of money the BBC gets from Doctor Who must be...incredible. People weren't keen on the old ones, now however...

  • @Emikero "12 rule"? Gallifreyans aren't allowed to regenerate more than 11 times?

  • @QuikVidGuy My dad said 12 and I believe him since he's watched it for yonks.

  • @Emikero It's twelve regenerations, thirteen incarnations.

  • @dwcast25 Weren't we talking about 'regenerations'?

  • @Emikero Not according to QuikVidGuy.

  • the second doctors regenaration was funnyxD

  • he looks younger as he gets older!

  • The Gallifreyans have evolved an amazing biological process to transform one actor into another who won't demand as much money...

  • The Master (The End Of Time) says he has ended his lives! How many times a Time Lord can regenerete himself? Master says twelve times... is he sayng the truth?

  • @kishanna09 yup, time lords get twelve regenerations, so thirteen incarnation. Check out tardis.wikia.com for more info

  • @KnowitallCommaMister many thanks! Tardis,wikia.com is the best site where to find some informations about doctor's world and history.

  • So none of his incarnations ever die of old age? Do they show a regeneration for each doctor?

  • @jmsnooks The first regeneration was an old-age one. He had complained his body was getting tired earlier, and simply collapses on the TARDIS floor (video of the episode is lost, however, but for the regeneration sequence seen here and a brief shot of Cybermen walking around earlier). No regeneration is seen from eight to nine, since it was 10 years between that TV-movie and the debut of the ninth Doctor, and they didn't want to confuse new viewers with the concept.

  • @jmsnooks They've shown a regeneration for every doctor except 8 to 9. Also, I think the First Doctor's regeneration has been lost .

  • Tom baker's regeneration was definetely the saddest ;(

  • Wow. The second one was my faorite. "You're making me giddy. No, you can't do this to me!" lol. That was fun to watch. XD

    I love Doctor Who. ^-^

  • 0:03 the coolest is the first Throughton's Scottish brow is the predominant contrast here. Tom to Peter is my fav but Hartnel to Throuton is the cool one! 0:27 somewhere in there, Pat Throuton tries to even "Look like" Jon Pertwee! the funniest part is omitted but funny. 1:02 clear cut and strait foreward good one! 1:14 my personal fav. 1:28 Rock AND ROLL!!! 1:43 a load of wash 2:00 underrated, I love frankinstein, though Sharez Jek is morbid a reference,

  • @fucheduck Troughton definitely did not try to look like Pertwee, since at the time they made that episode, they assumed the show would not be continuing (they thought it a fitting ending for the series to say the Doctor's appearance will change and he'll be exiled to Earth, so audiences would think, "Gosh, anybody you meet might be the Doctor!"), thus Pertwee had not been cast yet.

  • last one was really wierd, i mean his face was cracking and moving all over the place

  • The Docter always gets youger everytime by the time he gets to the 20th docter he's going ti be a toddler or a baby!!! lol

  • @robloxroblox the doctor dosent get 19 regenerations

  • @scottytheboy but it is likely the doctor will. The bosses won't to end it all together so they'll do what they did to The Master. Plus all Nearly all the time lords are wiped out so the doctor might decide what happens

  • The Mccoy to McGann regeneration looks probably the best, like you can see the bone structure etc changing!

  • WTF

    Guy just falls over

    EPIC REGENERATION

  • The modern ones lack atmosphere.. I think the crappy effects in the older ones somehow were much more other worldly...

  • Tom to Peter disturbed me a little...

  • @OhWhenTheSaints defo! When I was a kid it freaked me out... better than cgi!

  • did any1 else notice when the 8th doc opened his eyes one of them was kinda a different colour and made him look a bit cock-eyed

  • i think that davidson to baker was a pretty decent one

  • I knew Jon Pertwee personally. What a fabulous man! He is missed! Mc Coy to Mc Cann was the best regeneration! Thanks for the compilation .

  • Also regeneration 3 into 4 is also annoying for the same reasons as 8 into nine (not seen) and in my last post I meant that 10 into 11 is annoying because it's too similar to 9 into 10.

I like seeing every regeneration different because it's interesting to see what people come up with.

  • @SpiroEx Actually, the 9th doctor was with Rose, but the 10th was alone, So i win. Muahahha.

  • I agree with you, it's kinda irritating because i could think of a new idea in minutes.

  • @SpiroEx , there was no regeneration scene for 8 to nine as that was when the revamp series started, the dr was already cristopher eccleston, :-)

  • Most disappointing regenerations:

2 into 3. Because it's actually worse quality than 1 into 2 and because it's also a bit annoying.

8 into 9: Because we never got to see it.

9 into 10: Because I was hoping they would make it significantly different from 8 into 9 and, apart from being more violent, it wasn't that much different.

  • 1:41 : Sylvester McCoy,, a VERY bad wig :)

  • Davison's regeneration into C. Baker looked wicked!

  • i wish the bbc wud come up with a new regeneration cuz all they do now is explode the time vortex frm ther head and hands

  • Russell T Davies decided that was what they were going to use. Now he's gone they might change it up a bit - but I doubt there'll be another regeneration for a while tbh xDxD

  • @littlebritan Thats the best way....... nothing can beat it

  • @littlebritan They might will now with Steven Moffat incharge. So far he has changed nearly everything in doctor so I say he will probably change the regeneration thing.

  • colin Baker to Sylvester McCoy did not have colin baker in it it was Sylvester McCoy with a wig on

  • lol your making me dizzy!!

  • @studden99 he says giddy

  • @studden99 the doctor doesnt care about regenerating he cares about dizzyness

  • It wasn't dizzy it was giddy

  • @studden99 it's giddy.

  • @studden99 lol stop it your making me dizzy

  • @studden99 "Giddy" actually.

  • it also does not include the 8th to the 9th,

    the 9th is eccleston.

the doctor at the end of this was the doctor in the movie that came out in '96 or so

  • yes paul McGann (sorry if spellt wrong) played the 8th doctor in the 1996 movie. Unfortunately there is know regeneration of him changing to eccleston (9th)

  • The Eighth to the Ninth was never shown on-screen. The show just said it happened at some point in the Time War. :s

  • there was no 8th regeneration scene. he regenerated in the time war

  • 9? where is it

  • fav. regenerations would be the first and the latest regenerations

  • I always loved the trip-out regeneration of the fifth Doctor to the sixth. What happens when things go wrong indeed!

  • 8th-9th scares me.

  • there no 8th-9th regeneration

  • i luved the fifth doctors regeneration with the companions, i tink it wud be gud if they did somethin like that 4 next regneration. with rose, martha, donna, jack maybe mickey and then john simm, that wud be the best!

  • Seven to Eight was quite oddly Frankenstein's monster-y. lol

  • @starmomma

The actual movie has it purposefully flipping between it and the Frankenstein movie that the morgue guy is watching to accentuate the similarity.

  • oh i wish they would just show us oh the 8th doctor turned into the 9th doctor already we know they must have had some ideas T_T

  • I thought the 4th-5th was beautifully done - very subtle.

  • the way they do it now with the flames is far better

  • Thias was how they do it without effects so give them a break!!!!

  • 2nd regeneration was really strange

  • yer wats wiv spinning

  • confusion for the viewers i guess

  • Well the he was bashied to earth and forced to regenartate that's why it's strange and really it's old

  • im on about the second

  • Was the last one actually from the 1996 movie?

  • yeah

  • DAMN THE FIRST ONE IS CREEPY! i thought i was watching the shining for a second there :P

  • We'd better see David go into Matt,or at least the end of it.

  • 2:00 it looked like he was a terminator coming through the time displacement field.

  • The first one is a bit creepy!

  • THE FIRST ONE WAS CREEPY?! No no no the 2nd was way creepier.

  • Having the main character regenerating was a great idea.

  • but limiting it for only twelve times is a bad one

  • I agree it is. When they came up with that idea, they probably did not think it would get that far. The show that is.

  • Though the number of actual regenerations is up in the air. The second doctor became the third doctor through the infulenct of the time lords. It might have been a forced regeneration. And there is always the question as to whether the Doctor used a regeneration at the end of season 4.

  • So sad now we're starting the 11th doctor in 20010 that means only one more after him :(

  • The BBC will obviously find a way to change the rules if i know them!

  • Actually two. Timelords have 12 regenerations, that means 13 incarnations total.

  • Also, didn't the master find a way to regenerate more than the 12 times? The doctor might follow the same set of circumstances, and be able to live for many more lives.

  • russel t davis said that it wont end with 12 regenerations... in his words "The Doctor will find some orb or something to give him extra lives"

  • in the 96 movie the master possessed a human then the timelords brought him back to life to fight in the time war. the doctor cant do either . though i highly doubt they kill him off so its most likely they'll make just make something up when it comes to it.

  • no, the first time he held on to life as a walking corpse, the second he used the powers of the keeper of traken to steal a body and in the movie it was like a symbiont or a posesssion

  • Long live the 4th Doctor!!!! Baker all the way!!! Tennant rules too!!!!!!

  • how the helll do you make a vidio

    im not good with cameras

  • If I be frank i dont give a blow on how he regenrates and your film was ace , creative film , anyway so long as its funny , no violence or nastiness as its a family show , 1983 to 1989 was a low point sadly and jon nathan Turner made it bad , but the film was good and was like as it is now and if you read the sun today , good news Paul Mcgann is coming back for a special yipee !!! ax

  • s0 the 8th started the mist from the mouth thing!

  • actully i think thats just mist since hes in a freezer or something the reason the doctor was doing that during his ninth regeneration was because of the asorping the vortex from rose he had to expell it other wise it would consume him

  • ok, i guess that makes sence, but what's up with the tea reviving him? I never caught what he actualy said

  • Wasn't mist, he was in the Tardis, it was just the 1960's special effects. With the 9th, again it was the effects, new & modern, nothing to do with the vortex. Remember he started regenerating during the finale of series 4 with the same effects & he hadn't absorbed the vortex then. That yellow energy is the regeneration energy.

  • i saw the 4th-5th last night. :)

  • his regeneration is one of the modern ones where they're standing up and the energy shoots out their hands and face

  • mellowNdark - please point me to where I said *ALL* RTD writing is bad? He has wrote some amazing stories....I said "*SOME* bad writing here and there". Therefore there are no "double standards" in what I said and, frankly, you're talking utter nonsense in implying there are.

You should go into politics, you'd do well twisting the words of the opposite parties.

  • lol troughton's regeneration.

    'Stop you're making me dizzy'

    classic troughton rip

  • Despite some bad RTD writing here and there, David Tennant is the best Doctor for me (judged soley on the role and not the show's writing....but he particularly shines in Moffat and Cornell written stories). Closely followed by Tom Baker. Funnily enough, Chris Eccleston is my favourite living Brit actor....but I hated him as The Doctor.

  • and yet you are named after a creation of that so called 'Bad writer' as you put it RTD??? Double standards me thinks!!!

  • i hope chris agrees to do a flash back scene with paul if they get pal back but i dnt know if he is still licenened to fox

  • you mean 7th to 8th? They never filmed a 8th into the 9th x

  • I think the sixth one had all those effect because colin baker didn't actually film the regeneration scene because he had fallen out with the BBC and instead Slyvester McCoy filmed it

  • Colin Baker said on the Colon Baker years vhs that the BBC wanted him to leave after they decided that the doctor should regenerate every three years. Colin Baker said he did not want to film the regeneration scene when the BBC called him. This caused the BBC film the regeraton with out him and only slyvestor McCoy's part. He probably also did not like them firing him.

  • I think the only REAL good ones are 1st and 3rd
