@Ajwes299 If you have anything less than an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, multitasking and home screen backgrounds are not supported. The devices are capable of it, but for some reason they didn't allow it for the older devices such as iPod Touch 2nd generation or 1st. This is the same for the iPhone 3G and 1.

You're comments about the antennae problems are wrong. There are two separate issues. The "death grip" and false bar indications. EVERYONE, no matter who you are, has the death grip problem. It's caused by electrically shorting the two antennas with your skin. It's a hardware issue. The false bars are a software issue.

The algorithm is not responsible to draw the bars but to calculate the power boost to the antenna when signal is getting low. Other software then reads the output of that algorithm and draws the graphical bars based that info.

The problem is not visual but mathematical and electricial. Algorithm calculated full signal when there was just 23% signal strenght (-91dB). 77% signal was presented with just one bar. that means no signal boosting and ~ -20dB signal drop was enough to drop connection.
