  • Best ad of the year

  • 16 people did CPR to Riverdance...

  • I expect this to be at the "Best ad of year 2012" At the end of the year!!!

  • Social Marketing at its best!

  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • lolol - i made this one ealyer

  • "We need a volunteer who isn't breathing...Here's one I made earlier". Love it. XD

  • Anyone else think of Sherlock while watching this..;)

  • what?? are you not supposed to do mouth to mouth as well??? i'm confused

  • @fairhillnorrie If you know how to then yes, you should learn CPR with 30 compressions to 2 ventillations. But that's a bit hard for everyone to remember without training. Hard and fast compressions are easy to remember how to do and much better than nothing and the person will naturally 'breathe' a bit as you do it.

  • @hippyfriend good to know... thanks

  • @fairhillnorrie - nope, more people are apt to at least do compressions if no mouth involved, otherwise they might skip it altogether...plus studies shown rescue breathing does not really change the outcome

  • Very clever ad', anyone watching this will remember what the message is!

  • this ad save thousand of people lives bbc news said

  • my teacher sais this ad is very offencife but i disagree it gets straight to the point where vinnie is a strong and hard man

  • This Ad is a good Idea but it should make it clear you need to push harder than you think. If you're doing CPR properly, you should be cracking most of the casualty's ribs. If you hear cracking ribs, that means you're doing it right.

Not many people will know that, and won't push hard enough. It should say, 1/3 of the chest depth

  • @Joey100816 The origianal had vinnie saying its ok to push had enough to crack his ribs, 'better a cracked rib than kicking the bucket'

  • I just love this 'ad'. Vinnie - you're a genius, nobody could have done it better! I know it word for word so if ever faced with a 'situation', I feel confident I'd cope as a DIRECT result of watching this ad (rewind on Sky+ is a wonderful thing!).

Very well done to everyone involved in the making of this.

  • actually soo funny ! and it really stays in your mind <3 !

  • Actually quite a funny advert!

  • The best CPR ad ever ! If not the best ad ever,

  • i know hands only cpr but if its a fit girl im gonna forget about my hands Lol :)

  • Fantastic idea, shame it's wrong though. Completely disregarded the DRSABC (Danger, Response, Shout, Airway, Breathing, Compressions) Also, aim for the sovereign? No one will be able to administer efficient CPR that high up on the chest, you wouldn't be able to compress the chest to the recommended 5cm and it is too high to compress the heart. CPR and basic fist aid should be taught in schools.

  • @kez035 BTW before people start shooting me down, i'm a clinical support worker and also I have been trained in first aid and CPR since I was a kid, thanks to my dad who was a fire officer and an advanced fist aid and first aid at work instructor.

  • Why can't you use your mouth any more?

  • @MsMAdHaTtErNo1 Compression only CPR (Hands-only) has proved, in studies, to be more effective than compression+rescue breaths, as the time taken to administer the breaths is time not spent compressing (pumping the blood round).

Additionally, most people walk away from a situation involving mouth-mouth with a stranger (and most won't have a pocket mask to hand). This approach means people are significantly more likely to actually perform CPR and potentially save a life.

    Great Advert!

  • @MsMAdHaTtErNo1 because you only kiss your missus on the lips.

  • @MsMAdHaTtErNo1 Apparently it is more efficient to do chest compressions only, and also alot of people don't know how to give rescue breaths properly causing air in the stomach....you could be doing compressions for a while, and circulating un oxygenated blood around the body, which personally i would have thought would cause more damage by starving the brain of oxygen.

  • @kez035

This depends. If the ambulance arrives within 4/5 minutes from when the casualty stops breathing, then compression only is more effective than Compression and rescue breaths

Generally ambulances arrive 8-12 mins after the call/10-15 mins after the collapse. So most of the time full CPR is more effective. However, this compression only is ALMOST as effective as Full CPR. Many people are put off by rescue breaths/don't know how. This is to encourage those people to do compression only

  • @Joey100816 Thank you, a good informative answer, i was half expecting to get my head bitten off, lol. I'm trained in full CPR so thats how i would go, but like i said alot of people aren't confident on how to give rescue breaths causing the patient to vomit, which is not nice, so in that case hands only is the best way to go, but like you say ambulance response time is not quick enough to give a patient a good chance using hands only. Luckily I carry a CPR mask on my keys so I would be safe.

  • My life i love this advert

  • I lost it at "here's one I made earlier" xD

  • What I find amusing are the people who say 'Oh, you need to do mouth to mouth'. This is 'hands only CPR' (it says that in giant words at the end). Also do you really think what you were told potentially a long while ago is better advice than the most up to date information from a well funded charity whose primary focus is health research specialising in the heart? CPR will be one of the main things they study.

  • what does vinnie say after he says 'call 999' something like 09 or something

  • First off you call 999.....i know.......

  • @warrenE5

    He says, 'I know'.

  • love the way he pushes the man down at the end

  • Why cant all ads have humour like this... Really puts the "Accident Injury Claim" ads to shame :-L

  • LOOOOOOOL I love this ad so much!!!

  • my god how people does it take to tell the stupid yanks that this is a Uk AD so it 999

  • I'm 18, And I had to do this to my friend who collapsed in swimming, she's okay now :-)

  • great ad! But what does vinny say out of the side of his mouth straight after "first off you call 999" @0.17secs?

is it an error that hasnt been spotted in the editing room?

he doesnt say it in the longer version of the ad!

  • @grinnyboat "i know"... -__- the longer version is different anyways point dexter

  • @grinnyboat

He says 'I know' meaning it goes against the grain to call 999. That's the number you call for the police.

  • *clears throat* Don't you mean 911?..

  • @stormshot119 it's 999 in the UK, which is where this advert plays.

  • @stormshot119 It's 999 In the UK. :-)

  • @stormshot119 idiot

  • @stormshot119 Did you not see that this ad is for the 'BRITISH heart foundation :L :L

  • @cammyammy man you people are slow, it was a joke

  • @stormshot119 Nope because it's an English advert ...

  • @randomstuffinc again, it was just... a joke

  • Best ad ever done.

  • One of the best British ads ever. Educational, entertaining and funny! Love it!

  • *guy is revived*

Vinnie - Stay down; ad ain't finished yet.

  • Hard and fast. love it

  • lmfao i luv this so much , my idol tbh

  • If Your A Quilified First Aider Do We Still Administer Mouth To Mouth If Willing

  • @HardwickPara Did you even watch the video? You only kiss your missus on the lips. 0:18

  • @HardwickPara Ur, No, that's why it is called 'Hands only CPR' :-)

  • @phoebeBRUV So you no longer do mouth to mouth ? even if you are quilified in CPR with mouth to mouth ?

  • i like how the two guys in the background shuffle their shoulders when 'Stayin Alive' starts

  • How many lives do u think this advert will save?? AMAZING! I <3 IT!!!!!!!!!

  • By far the most powerful "community" initiative I have seen for a long time - genius!

    Just keep telling people

  • bullet-tooth tony is still alive!

  • Do more. A simple but affective point.

  • Jim moriarty isn't dead ... He got revived by Vinnie Jones

  • @OneManArmy28 When I got told about this advert, I laughed. All I could think of was Moriarty and his ring tone. :|

  • here one i make earlier. *slide* XDXDXDXD

  • yeah sure let's make a british gangster esque themed advert for something as serious as heart attacks.

  • @touchdownben If it might be saving lifes I don't know why you'd be having a moan about it.

  • This is what Jim Moriarty saw before he "died."

  • potato

  • 30 compression's, 2 rescue breaths. vinnies got it wrong.

  • @WimmyKid13 yes 30 - 2 is what you are taught in a first aid course however not everyone does a first aid course and seeing as I recently did one I can tell you that we were told about this advertising campaign coming out about 3 months ago. The reason why "Vinnie" says no "No Kissing" is because a study has revealed that alot of people will walk on by someone who has collapsed because they donot want to start CPR thinking they HAVE to do mouth to mouth, which is no longer the case.

  • @WimmyKid13 True dat, this advert is only for heart attacks, if someone collapsed for other reasons and isn't breathing, it will be the 30:2 procedure.

  • Soverin? Is where a standard neclace would end? Because I was told it was in the center of where your rib cage ends...

  • @25Crunch look at the video.. the guy is wearing a necklace and it is based on "cockney" humour he is saying push in the middle of the chest inline with the nipples and under the arm pits but where the typical necklace ends is where you should push

  • I LOVE VINNIE JONES best ad eva

  • This is the best advert ever! Definately got my vote for best add 2012 :)

  • "Here's one I made earlier?"

  • @EpsilonSeven Its suppose to be like something you say on Blue Peter

  • I thought lock stock had a better plot but the acting in this is better

  • vinnie jones is a massive cunt

  • I was genuinely and pleasantly suprised that this advert didn't end up being all about car insurance at the end! =D

  • you know what made me lauh? when I was doin my first aid trainin with the London St Johns ambulance service this is EXACTLY what they told me to do, when doin CPR hum stayin alive to keep the rite ryhthm! I was pissin myself lauhin when they told me to do that, the most inapropiate song hum to urself while ur tryin to revive somone LOL

  • @StabCandy Lol its better then what i got to to do when doing CPR i got told to another one bites the dust by Queen

  • @sparkleintheyes omg that has to be the only other song in history that is more inapropiate to hum to yourself than stayin alive LOL I love it

  • feed em to the pigs errol

  • Inspired.

  • This and the British Airways ad (the new one) is perhaps the best ads I've seen thus far this year.

  • here's one i made earlier lol vinnie's is as funny as ever he was best in snatch

  • what is the smaller of the two guys in the background on again?

  • Excellent advert, and thumbs up to whoever cast Vinny!

  • I can guarantee that if anyone who's seen this video has to do hands-only CPR, you can bet your arse they'll be singing Stayin' Alive.

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha heres 1 i made earlyer lol classic

  • Here's one i made earlier. Ahaha.

  • best advert I have seen in a long while±

  • Nelly *

  • True guys true! :D belly the elephant packed her trunk...

  • It's brilliant! I've done first aid for 54 years & a full-time trainer for 23 and am always looking for anything that makes things simple. It's snappy, funny & gets across the message that anyone can be part of the chain that can save a collapsed & non-breathing person. 'If you do nothing, they've got no chance' & that may encourage people to give it a go. The only fault would be that the compressions are faked (live actors don't like their ribs broken) so better simulation would be better.

  • Errol hasnt aged well aha

  • fantastic advert! and very cleverly thought: you can't go wrong!

  • What does Vinnie say at 17 seconds?

  • @ODanboy I know...Then...

  • First off you call 999... i know... hahaa

  • @Den5ity "I Know"

  • This is helpful for me but I started laughing at the no kissing part

  • The Daddy of current adverts.

  • i though tyou're supposed to breath in his mouth too

  • @stargateheaven23 according to my first aid course, the Americans did tests and found mouth to mouth wasn't any more effective than compressions only. on my course we've been taught to do it, but told that if we don't want to, we don't have to. the compressions are the main thing

  • Just watched the FULL version of this and its MUCH better. This version misses out so much good, useful info - dangerous.......

  • When I did my First Aid training, I was taught to get someone else to dial 999 (doing that yourself would waste PRECIOUS time - even more so these days, as they want a life-history!) then to check for both breathing AND a pulse. Then - if necessary - check and clear the airway and begin Artificial Respiration with both lung inflations AND Cardiac stimulation. Strikes me, this is to stop all those pussies who're scared of HIV doing a runner AND to do the lawyers out of some easy money!

  • @Factnotfictionpeople and thats harder for people to remember

  • @Factnotfictionpeople If you are the sole rescuer, you should dial 999 first. If someone is with you, get them to call 999. This person will not get any better until they get to a defibrillator. Second: with regards breaths vs compressions, once we did 5:1 then 15:2 and then 30:2 and now advising compression only for the untrained. Compressions are more important than breath. Not only that, but stopping compressions even for a few seconds to give a breath is bad.

  • I was looking for the Fray, how did i get here?

  • This is a brilliant advert

  • guys out of snatch not vinnie the one behind him

  • Bloody Hell!!! Andy Beckwith!!! long long long time no see mate lol :D Hope you're well if you're ever going to read this that is! :) B. xxx

  • As a first aid Instructor, I find this advert geat, but for a person who sees this the first time and knows nothing about first aid could get the wrong idea all together. Doing the CPR is the easy bit, its knowing when to give it. There's a huge difference between a person who has collapsed and is breathing and someone who has collapsed and is not breathing! My concern is if someone collapses because of an illness and there still breathing will people start doing CPR!?!

  • vinnie jones isnt hard at all, just a big gob!

  • I used to dread of kissing when it comes to kiss of life. Now this film is really an educational one which every one can learn and practice without fear. My father would have survived if this was trained to my sister more than 34 years ago who died of choking and collapsing while eating in front of her ,without knowing what to do.

  • I like that his two henchmen were also in Snatch..."what've I told you about thinking Errol?"

  • Entertaining and clearly gets it message across. This is what all adverts should be.

  • This is excellent, best advert I've seen in ages!

  • 11 people aren't 'Stayin' alive'

  • This is one of the best adverts for a very long time xD British humour for the win!

  • best advert. EVER

  • BRITISH AND PROUD OF IT!! :D

  • Good advert, but this could potentially break ribs if and inexperienced person is doing it! Don't know what happened to the rescue breaths but they've gone, I do CPR to 'Nelly the elephant" ahaha

  • @Walle2k12 but whats better a few broken ribs or dead?

  • @Walle2k12 better to break a few ribs and save a person though only thing i'd fault it for is not specifying to get someone to call 999 first

  • @maverickmic yeah it does...twice. 0:12 and at 0:32

  • @Q3ToPBuZz I need to pay more attention!

  • @Walle2k12 The longer version adresses this. It's better to bust a few ribs than letting someone die of heart failure.

  • This may not be the correct procedure, but if it makes more people aware of the need to carry out CPR, this ad has done its job!

  • @willz17 Any air is better than no air.

  • very good!!

  • This advert cannot be more wrong!! What happened to 'Dr ABC' Airways, Breathing, Circulation. Further more when conducting chest compressions you do not press upon the sternum - does nothing, can cause injury! but instead just above the solar-plexus!!

First aid cannot be taught in 44 seconds!

I recommend the British Heart Foundation takes a collective course in first aid before immediately causing people to perform compressions!

  • @LordDagonn this is just the short version, there's a longer video that explains more

  • @LordDagonn Sorry but are you the huge foundation that has saved millions of lives, no, didnt think so, this ad gets to the point, no its not exactly detailed but it gets the basics!

  • "Here's one i made earlier"

    LOOOOOL

  • Comment removed

  • Don’t get me wrong I think the add is a great idea, but if you push hard and fast on the Sovereign you will fracture the sternum and do nothing towards pumping the blood, you hands needs to be between the nipples not at the top of the sternum.

  • lol 1st of call 999.............i noo lool

  • One of the best adverts of all time

  • I would like to see Vinnie Jones turn up on East Enders... might actually be worth watching then !!

  • @MegaRusty64

im sorry . estenders is just the shithole of the earths asshole .. theres is nothing that can make itbetter .. im sorry

  • параФИНН

  • what a prick.

  • @mranthonywhitemancfc Yeah........if 'Prick' means 'TOTALLY AWESOME, MAAAN'!

  • @lukeseti ...lmao...that`s my fav too

  • Brilliant video, another good tune to listen to is "Another one bites the dust" by Queen but it is probably best not to sing it out loud.

  • I think I prefer this version to the longer version, just because of the way Vinnie casually throws the guy back to the ground right after resusciating him.

  • I wonder how many people will die as a result of this advert?

  • @boosomentity i agree, this may be about cardiac arrest, but people who are in respiratory arrest aren't going to be breathing either. and this advert is telling people to just do compressions instead of checking a pulse first?

  • @caitlinj13579 Most people don't know how to check for a pulse sufficiently, or they feel their own pulse when checking etc.

  • If Vinnie Jones were to give CPR he'd break the guy's ribs

  • @Abm11alpha better a broken rib than him kickin' the bucket

  • Almost worth owning a tv for this advert funny, laughed my arse off lol

  • @glasgowbiker yea its total class aintit

  • @dabest6969

'Stayin' Alive', 'Another One Bites The Dust' and any other 100-ish bpm song can work :-)

So you can use literally any 100bpm song like 'Dancing Queen' by Abba or if you really wanted to get random 'Gee' by So Nyuh Shi Dae... it's hard to believe some of these songs can practically save lifes, music is powerful lol

  • Do chest compressions to staying alive? What just the AH parts or stayin alive parts too? is it 4 pumps or how many? not very clear if u ask me but it is funny

  • @LOW3beats aim for 90-100 compression's a Minuit

  • One of the 2 blokes with Vinnie is Errol from Snatch, brilliant film.

  • Best advert for years

  • Wouldnt mind him giving me the kiss of life..even though he said no kissing..anyways..fit.
