I would like to know what camera you use to shoot your scenes? Second, although the shots are assorted and nicely done, they still keep the viewer disoriented of shops, apartments, restaurants, etc. with regard to their location in the Soi.
Moreover, some of the places have been edited so quickly from the original video that it is hard to recognize them. It'd be nice to have a smooth segue into different scenes.
@ninuxy Thanks for your comment and the feedback. I use a small hand-held Sony camcorder model HDR-XR which does 25 fps so it's not very good in pan viewing unless it is done very slowly. I agree with your comments that it is difficult to get the feel of how the soi is laid out with respect to the locations of the various clips in the video. This video was done by walking into the soi to the end and recording clips along the way and then doing the same on the return walk. ... more
@ninuxy continuation ... That soi is relatively narrow and standing in one place it is not possible to capture much on one video clip. As for the editing, compared to other videos not much was cut out of this one. Time is a constraint. Encoding for a 4 minute video takes about 40 minutes with my equipment. A 1,000 M video takes about 4 to 5 hours to upload and so I try to cut out views that don't add to the theme of the video.
That said I do appreciate your observations and comments ... more
@phrakanong Since we are at it, how about adding titles and names to "some" of the locations so the viewer can associate them on an actual map? I know, it's a daunting task, but just a thought I wanted to share. If it's decided to be done, you have to select a proper typography, font, and color while keeping the size to the minimum.
I'm going through most of the videos and I'm glad I found this channel. It is a departure from the proverbial red districts on every other video about Thailand.
@phrakanong Sorry, I keep dropping by, but forgot to highlight the importance of music accompanying the videos--it really blends the visual cultural idiosyncrasies with its musical component.
Some of the videos are engaging enough that you forget to vote. Are you a foreigner living in Thailand or a native?
If you don't mind, I have a few more content suggestions; how about some collective scenes from the floating markets? I've heard there are 4 major ones in the capital.
What about the neighborhoods surrounding the Chao Phraya river, besides the oft-photographed high rises and hotels at the bank of the river? I haven't seen any photo or video from the western neighborhoods of the river? Are there any affluent areas down the there? What is this patch of green peninsula south of Sukhumvit area, called Bang Kachao? Why hasn't that area been heavily developed?
Greetings from Singapore! Tks again for sharing! But I still prefer all your videos with songs that's what make your videos so beautifully different from others! Cheers.
@zhenzx Thanks for the feedback. Some viewers like the music and others don't. The next one won't have music but I am going to try to do a modified version of it which will. The native background sound version should be out by early next week.
Prakanong, great views of Soi 8. Lots of changes there over the decades. At 0:40 (palms to just past the pink taxi) is where the old Mermaid's Rest used to be located. I stayed at Mermaid's for 6 weeks at about 38 baht/day. Many thanks for providing a fresh look at the area.
First, thank you for making these videos.
