  • got a similar thingy, but I've only used it with the plug in the engine when searching for a misfiring cylinder on old vw:s :)

    It's an excellent tool.

  • @MagooC4 yes it is a great tool, very useful. Only found it a few weeks back and already used it loads of times

  • Watcha Dan.

Aldi was selling a set of 4 spark testers for cars for under a fiver. So you put one in each lead on a 4 cyclinder engine. This was sometime ago and I also forgot I had them in my toolbox until I seen you video.

    Thanks for the reminder.

    MIck

  • @morrisminormods yer a set of 4 would be nice, at the moment i only have the one. Its ok for my mowers and the lister but not so great for a car engine, glad to hear i reminded you :)

  • Very cool! I could do with one of those for when I can't get a spark plug out! There pretty cheap, at my work experience place they had hundreds of them, and they just had a little round bit with a point. That Villiers sounds really weird turning over with no spark plug! "Basically, it shows if you have spark" :L.

  • @MrMoterKid :L that villiers does sound weird when it cranks, you get this weird sucking noise and the clicking from the starting handle. I have no idea why this thing wont run, i got spark but it just wont go :(

  • @MO3MINI Maybe the crank seals have gone, that often happens on old two strokes, does it even fire?? Cos if it fires or runs for like 5 seconds really lumpy then that means the crank seals are gone, so it doesn't get enough crankcase compression to suck up the fuel from the crankcase, try putting some petrol in the cylinder and see if it fires or runs for a few seconds.

  • @MrMoterKid nope it doesn't even firer with some fuel in the cylinder, i think the spark is to week. The coils on these engines can go bad :(

  • @MO3MINI Yeah, I've heard that they do burn out often, a lot of people put old car coils on them, with a little 9V battery on it.

  • thats really cool

  • @Penguinboy1995 yep it is pretty cool and really useful :)
