how's it going with the Barefoot Cheyenne&What made you think about choosing treeless? I'm vry interested cos if I were a horse I'd be REALLY picky about what some stupid human decided to strap to my back just so they could sit on me for their convenience. This is not a criticism of your choice,I like the philosophy of Barefoot, would like an honest opinion of what the Cheyenn is like for your horse.Neither do I mean you're some stupid humanLOVE YOUR VIDEO, MR T, BUDDY&RICK GORE ROCKS
@smellslikeahorse I really do like my barefoot saddle. I wanted a treeless for a few reasons: 1) because I had a two year old that I wanted a saddle for starting and I knew he was going to be changing shape throughout the years so I didn't want to fiddle about with gear that could potentially not fit him soon after and make him sore. That would also be more expensive for me. The bareoot saddles are flexible and adjust when the horse changes shape. The quality is fantastic and it fitted him fine.
@smellslikeahorse 2) Because I live in a region of a developing country that do not have tack shops like western countries, which also means no saddle fitters to give me advice (but who CAN you trust?). I bought it online from Belgium. The barefoot saddles are made by a german physiotherapist and are becoming very popular. I like the fact they change shape when your horse does. They feel a fraction different from a regular treed saddle but I felt that's something I must adapt to for my horse's..
@smellslikeahorse ..benefit. You must have a special pad underneath and you can buy extra accessories for your comfort. I use a normal dressage saddle with it and normal stirrup leathers. I found the barefoot stirrups too fiddly. For two months I did tons of research online and read many reviews before I bought one. Barefoot saddles claim to fit most shapes of horses but I've read horses with high withers are known to have problems. Barefoot have a simulation video on youtube if you search...
@smellslikeahorse ..for it. There are many views out there for and against treed and treeless. I think you've got to decide which is best for your horse first and then yourself. My horse seems happy so therefore Im happy :-) Thanks for the compliment about my video. I agree - Rick is one special guy.
