@helter1234 Shut up punk, tell your mama to change your diapers this band is from the 60's It influenced every band including led zeplin.... Go home gay boy
@mobeers1 Well I have no clue what made you so angry or when I said that Led Zeppelin influenced Budgie, but what I did say was that I was quite tired of people going on to videos and trashing other bands and talking about what it is to be a real metal head. No matter though I will be sure to inform my mom that my diaper needs changing, however I am not a punk and will no be shutting my mouth anytime soon.
@helter1234 Seriously? Why get angry? Because obviously you are some kid who doesn't have a clue. You do realize Budgie was before Zeppelin right? How could they influence them? What exactly about Budgie sounds anything like Zeppelin? That's right. Nothing. Get your facts straight before you spout out your ignorance. Assholes like you need to stop giving so much credit to Zeppelin
sissyfcuk and harmygaga.... why do you even type that shyte? its just trolling on eachother...technicality musicality...who gives a damn? its like mathematics, its perfect gorgeous beautiful ,I keep solving derivates and integrates and it makes me feel happy...and than theres that girl I love, theres nothing in mathematics what describes what love makes to your senses. Music should NOT be compared, its about preferences, there is no one best, there can be a favourite...to a person
@Sisyphuck Without Dan McCafferty there would be no Bon Scott or Brian Johnson. Well maybe the Geordie Brian Johson which was much better. Seriously what bands do you listen to? It must be garbage. Dan McCafferty possesses over a 5 octave range all properly executed and Rob Halford over 6 octaves. The versatility of both those vocalists is unmatched except maybe by one another. And any so called vocalist like yourself who doesn't know what technical vocals are should reconsider their career path.
@Sisyphuck Anyone who would say that Rob Halford isn't a technical vocalist knows nothing about vocals. What is your favorite band shitty Slipknot or Avenged Sevenfold?
@Sisyphuck Comming from a guy who doesn't realize how many bands that Nazareth has influenced: Aerosmith, Queen, Acdc, Heart, Judas Priest, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Motorhead...ETC... You know fuck all about music. If you have heard all of Nazareth's music you would realize how technical of a vocalist Dan McCafferty is. You are useless and your band is sure to fail if Bon Scott is your favorite singer.
@Sisyphuck Yes just listen to Dreamer Deceiver, Run Of the Mill, Dissident Agressor. Anyone who would question Rob Halfords abilities know's nothing about music. The man is a metal god and possessed over a six octave range. And James Hetfield is garbage by the way and so is Bon if you are thinking in terms of technicality same with steven tyler and brian johnson. My range is far better than all four of them put together and I am nowhere near as talented as the other musicians I listed.
And fyi Bugie released their first album 3 years before rush. so if anything Geddy Lee was a Burke Shelly Wannabee. It's just like Bon Scott and Brian Johnson are a Dan McCafferty Wannabe. Get your facts straight. If you don't know the years you don't know the music.
@Sisyphuck To get to that particular pitch anyone who knows about vocals knows that it is difficult. I'd like to see you try to do Rob Halford's Dissident Agressor Falsetto or Dreamer Deciever. Or Dan McCafferty's vocals in the Nazareth song Flying. I'll give you a list of extremely technical vocalists: Dan McCafferty, Rob Halford, Michael Kiske, David Byron, John Lawton, Geoff Tate, Tim The Ripper Owens. Those are true technical vocalists. Your a singer in a band like what a james hetfield one?
@Sisyphuck And if you wanna talk about a one tone vocalist one of the first to look at would be Bon, James Hetfield, and Steven Tyler. They have barely any range. Bon can hit some extremely high notes but he can't change his tone nor can he hit many low notes or very few inbetween.
@Sisyphuck Do you know how much fucking talent that takes to do that and to do that so clean? Obviously not a clue. I naturally have a deep tone voice I am a natural bass vocalist but I have trained for many years and can't even come close to that not. However Burke Shelley can also do low notes. And if you think bon is even in the top ten most technical and most vocal range you know fuck all about vocals. Bon has a little better than the average octave range at around 3.
@Sisyphuck Haha retard. You are obviously not a vocalist because anyone who know's anything about vocals know's that Burke Shelley has a far better vocal range than Bon and can sing a wider range of octaves and notes.
Besides this isn't the fucking acdcs version!!! why the fuck do you guys have to keep bringin them up. Budgie is earlier in the creation of metal than acdc, acdc isn't even metal compared to budgie they are just sped up rock. I agree maybe bon and brian sound heavier but they aren't nearly as technically talented. I would say this voice suits metal more; especially traditional metal. I really like acdc too but they don't need to be mentioned on a Budgie song.
DOOM METAL SLUDGE Youre so talented your doing Sabbath covers? HA! HA! You should be a dumb fuck muso journalist with your arrogant 'Im a skilled musician' views. @Mrwhitetrash1970 Yeah Alvin Lee is an awesome shredder I really like budgies overall sound and especially the bass playing way more in this version. Even if you think this version isnt good you should check out some of budgies other songs they're a great band
This was the first thing i heard from Budgie on the radio in 1973-74 and for about six months i didn't know what it was since the stupid radioprogram didn't tell the groups name. But as soon as i knew i bought the record and have kept it all these years.
@miguel3231 That version suck compared to this. This has much more technical instrumental and more technical vocals. Just a much better version this one is.
love Budgie. saw them at Bolton colege, with judas priest, in the mid 70s wat a gig that was!!! great band. k.k downing dropped his S.G at the end of the gig.the lights went out too early. enybody remmember???
This band would have been huge if they had a different singer. The music is incredible, especially considering the crap music that was being slung around at the time. I am going to assume this band was a big influence on Motorhead.
@zipzagger woah WOAH buddy, you need to hear more of burke Shelley! He MADE this band what it is! you take him out, you have nothing. Twas HE playing the funky bass, Daddy! DIG IT! :3
ya know, it breaks my heart. Ya have an amazingly talented guitarist who can easily be in the top 50 guitarists of all time, yet, only a hand full of people have heard of him. This guy worked very hard n deserved to be recognized, but he isn't. Then we get people (like Justin Bieber) who never heard of good music, are by no means talented, don't care about the music or the fans (only money) and don't write their own songs. Poor Tony Bourge must be workin some shit job nowadays-it's not fair!
this version is pretty great, beautiful guitar work, Thems cover is sweet too, Nugents wasnt bad, but AC/DC is still my favorite, course im biased, until recently and theyre whole, "exclusive walmart" thing, they had done something few others can claim, and thats not sell out
In the case of Metal I would have to agree, the best normally rise to the top and often with no desire to
It's hard to think of better bands than the big 4 if i'm honest and most of the underground stuff is absolute tosh, well most of it, can find some hidden gems like say Enochian theory
@lifesnevereasy completely untrue, metal would not have survived and thrived if it wasn't for bands like budgie. the new " popular metal" is a load of prefabricated commercial bullshit. before you you know it, it will be hannah metaltanna and silly gay virus doing metallica covers and taking credit for them. then only will u assholes understand that old school is the way to go. keep rockin budgie!!!!
This is why we're kinda lucky in Heavy Metal. The most famous ones are the best. Which is absolutely not the same in rap, rnb, popular techno things, it's all about money, gathering fans for a very short time: after one month the MTV hit is old fashioned. After more than 30 years there are kids banging to death along Ace Of Spades
I disagree. The big and famous metal bands of metal aren't the best. Of course it all comes down to personal opinion. But I believe that there is a lot better metal out there than the big four thrash bands.
neither my mom or the dude were staying with who knew alot of heavy metal bands knew of this band. i played the in for the kill album, they were impressed. especially with wondering what everyone knows and zoom club
Another awesome band that got "lost in the shuffle" back in the day. If I recall correctly, a critic who wrote for Rolling Stone daw them live after giving 1 of their albums a VERY favoravle rating, said they ROCKED, but like MOXY, their reception was divided between small pockets of hardcore fans & large pockets of people who couldn't seem to care less. Weren't they & Moxy both on that PBS special titled, like, "5 Awesome Bands You've Probably Never Heard Of?"
I feelya, for sure! I feel the same way about Moxy, too!
Actually, I think it was as much a matter that the spotlight stayed on certain bands even at times when pickers like Jimmy Page & Joe Perry were getting stale.
Whatever happened a lotta good rock & roll got lost in the shuffle. Glad Uriah Heep didn't tho!
Look at thrash metal and the Big 4. A lot of good bands didn't get the credit they deserve because other bands were hogging the spotlight and, in the case of the Big 4, weren't that good.
It happens with rap too. And every music genre. You have shit like Soulja Boy taking the spotlight and not only hidding good rappers and groups from the public, but giving rap a bad name as well.
A lot of good stuff is lost because people just don't bother looking.
Agreed but Anthrax Megadeth Metallica and Slayer are the Gods... Beside the fact these bands feature awesome musicians and wrote Metal Anthems they were (and still are) the source of inspiration. Alright their famous and blablabla but songs like Master Of Puppets, Angel Of Death, Holy Wars, no one ever wrote such epic songs. You just can't deny the greatness of the most famous bands (Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, ...).
mine to V.James, peace and keep rockin, squawk.budgie is and always be one of the best ever no matter what the mainsteam says.they are so lost any way.lots of love to all budgie fans we are the few the proud the budgie army.
they fuckin can just kick ass a band to be reconed with they just are so smooth and diverse, hall of fame band they should be inducted along with my other fav 3 man band rush they must be smokin some good shit not to let these bands in.peace
This is my favorite version of the song- there are many to choose from, but the rockin' groove that these guys generate rules! Of course I've only been listening to this for 36 years.
@ntcutterl Napoleon Bonapatr 1 & 2 off Bandolier and of course you know about "In for the Kill" and "Squawk" which are side to side amazing...zoom club, stranded....heavy raw rock...listening since first album 1971 ...parachutist women etc.
Hey man who did the original was it Big Joe or Muddy watters always thought it was Mudy Waters but if I stand corrected can you tell me where the original verson can be located on you tube
Big Joe definitely did the song earlier than Muddy. I don't know if the word 'original' applies to most old blues songs. It all comes from tradition. There's a version of Big Joe playing the song on a 9-string guitar on utube.

@DoomMetalSludge Baby, Please Don't Go" is a blues song first recorded by Big Joe Williams in 1935. It is related to a group of early 20th century blues and work songs that include "I'm Alabama Bound", "Another Man Done Gone", and "Don't Leave Me Here", and "Turn Your Lamp Down Low".
It has become a blues and rock standard, and has been recorded by many artists (see list below). In July 2010 the music download site Allmusic.com listed 1,082 separate entries for recordings of the song.

This was the first thing i heard from Budgie on the radio in 1973-74 and for about six months i didn't know what it was since the stupid radioprogram didn't tell the groups name. But as soon as i knew i bought the record and have kept it all these years.

Take the instrumentation of Budgie's version, put Mick Jagger on the vocals, and you got the absolute best rendition of the song.

This band would have been huge if they had a different singer. The music is incredible, especially considering the crap music that was being slung around at the time. I am going to assume this band was a big influence on Motorhead.

ya know, it breaks my heart.

In the case of Metal I would have to agree, the best normally rise to the top and often with no desire to
It's hard to think of better bands than the big 4 if i'm honest and most of the underground stuff is absolute tosh, well most of it, can find some hidden gems like say Enochian theory
lifesnevereasy 1 year ago
@lifesnevereasy completely untrue, metal would not have survived and thrived if it wasn't for bands like budgie. the new " popular metal" is a load of prefabricated commercial bullshit. before you you know it, it will be hannah metaltanna and silly gay virus doing metallica covers and taking credit for them. then only will u assholes understand that old school is the way to go. keep rockin budgie!!!!
fatgreenwoody 1 year ago
@fatgreenwoody Right on my son..... I remember seeing Budgie play to about ten students at Leeds Polly gym in 71 - still, they gave it their all.
Sincere commitment to real art cannot ever be bought.
svecter 1 year ago
This is why we're kinda lucky in Heavy Metal. The most famous ones are the best. Which is absolutely not the same in rap, rnb, popular techno things, it's all about money, gathering fans for a very short time: after one month the MTV hit is old fashioned. After more than 30 years there are kids banging to death along Ace Of Spades
metalhead0880 2 years ago
I disagree. The big and famous metal bands of metal aren't the best. Of course it all comes down to personal opinion. But I believe that there is a lot better metal out there than the big four thrash bands.

Weren't they & Moxy both on that PBS special titled, like, "5 Awesome Bands You've Probably Never Heard Of?"
jeffpace60 2 years ago
Many bands like this; talented and.. Just plain awesome, were hidden in the shadow because bands like Led Zeppelin were hogging the spotlight.
Personally I would take Budgie and Uriah Heep and other such bands over Zeppelin anyday.
ThazuaBlackarrow 2 years ago 2
I feelya, for sure! I feel the same way about Moxy, too!
Actually, I think it was as much a matter that the spotlight stayed on certain bands even at times when pickers like Jimmy Page & Joe Perry were getting stale.
Whatever happened a lotta good rock & roll got lost in the shuffle. Glad Uriah Heep didn't tho!
jeffpace60 2 years ago
It happened for more than just rock too.
ThazuaBlackarrow 2 years ago
Agreed but Anthrax Megadeth Metallica and Slayer are the Gods... Beside the fact these bands feature awesome musicians and wrote Metal Anthems they were (and still are) the source of inspiration. Alright their famous and blablabla but songs like Master Of Puppets, Angel Of Death, Holy Wars, no one ever wrote such epic songs. You just can't deny the greatness of the most famous bands (Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses, ...).

Runrome 2 years ago
Big Joe definitely did the song earlier than Muddy. I don't know if the word 'original' applies to most old blues songs. It all comes from tradition. There's a version of Big Joe playing the song on a 9-string guitar on utube.
