Still an eerie film today....very odd film for the fifties, it seemed to take sci fi horror more seriously than many of the others out at the time. One of my faves!
I love the 1950's sci-fi films. My favorites are Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, Incredible Shrinking Man, Forbidden Planet, The Thing From Another World, The Day The Earth Stood Still and War Of The Worlds.
The classical arrangements raise the level of this Don Siegel directed film. Composer and Hollywood Bowl conductor Carmen Dragon was born in Antioch, California, east of San Francisco and studied briefly at San Jose State. I like the use of panned stills in this video.

Carmen Dragon provides a spectacular back drop for a classic film. Outstanding!

Sweet. Or suite. Interesting that it's not particularly thematic, as far as I can hear: not a question of leit motifs but of different moods.
