How To: Lip Sync in Flash (part 1)

How do you make it so when you scroll through the frames it previews the audio? Whenever I scroll through the frames its just quiet.

Everytime I do it, the mouth just looks really dumb and quickly done, even though I'm follow the words exactly :/

When I put in the soundfile in a layer and play the keyframe the soundfile starts on it plays the whole thing directly even if I stop, rewind and even if the keyframes stops at a certain point the sound continues to play.. Please Help!!!

@ShakeupMank Goldenstar7z answers this. When the audio thing is selected, go to properties and change the "sync" option to "stream". For me atleast, it was auto set to Event.

@EL12111 I had the same problem with the first question, but I figured it out.

In properties at the side (if you don't have it go to Window > Properties), when you drag the audio file onto the frames, and click the frames, "sound" should appear in the properties box. Where it says "sync", whatever option you have beside it (event, start, stop etc.) click it and change it to "stream". Hope I helped?

Dude, I make animations putting layers within a symbol. I can lip sync inside the symbol, but then my work won't appear outside of it, at the main animation...what do I do?

@FfancyCcrash You are probably going outside the symbol to another symbol that is either not set to "play all frames," and if it is, and still isnt playing, make sure you extend the timeline to match the timeline length within the mouth symbol.

Also, make sure the outer symbol is a Graphic Symbol if you want to stream through the timeline.

@Tim823 Yup, I alreday solved this problem. Actually, it was already solved. When I tested the movie, I realized it WAS working. Felt a little dumb afterwards. So sorry for that :S. Thanks anyways :D But now I have a way more confusing problem. When I was lip syncing a character....HIS HEAD DISSAPPEARED OUTSIDE THE SYMBOL! What do I do? Is it that I'm putting too much symbols within symbols or what? It is organized this way: character > head > mouth > lip sync :S?

Would anybody know why I can't scrub through audio in flash cs5? It's on it's own layer, imported as a sound wave. I can play the audio by pressing enter, but I can't scrub through it for some reason.

@kww1011 Click the audio track on the timline and there are 3 drop down options in the panel... one of em allows scrubbing...

@LupusStriker go to properties when clicking on the audio frames and there should be a setting called "sync"

Set it to stream, as oppose to whatever it is on now. That should help

@j0hnnytamb0rine your audio is set to event and you need to set it to stream ( when you clikc on a sound you added to the timeline you will get properties and you should set the sync to stream and not event so the sound stops when you stop it)

@ComputerHelp007 I have pen and touch myself and have no complaints. The only thing is the cord connecting the tablet to the computer is a little thin, so don't yank the cord too hard or it might break, and if Wacom sells them, buy extra pen tips.

I mean there really are no "wrong" tablets to get for beginners but you may want to start out with something simple

i use a movie clips and make small animations in them like the face turning to shock but i want that to play later on in my animation that outside the movie clip can i get it to play outside the movie clip or not becuase when ive tried ive failed misserabile

@wooimonutube24 u can play it outside the movie clip by going into your movie clip, select all the frames in the clip and copy them then go outside the movie clip and paste the frames

@bdog2090 Adobe Soundbooth, All adobe system software works together, so when you edit audio in soundbooth, it fits into flash perfectly, you dont have to change the format or anything. remember to set the audio to stream, and by cutting of the beginning and end of audio frames you can edit cut-offs, by increasing frame rate, you also increase audio speed. hope that helps!
