  • Someone needs new FS UV controllers. lol

  • Sounds like that siren from the Movie "Tornado!" 1996 , not twister .

  • whats the voice saying? For the town of ____ and ____

  • @sirenfan97"attention: the following is a test of the early warning system for the town of East Lyme"

  • never heard an actual 2000 series in attack/fast wail

  • awesome attack mode :)

  • dang YT commercials...

  • Thumbs up if this is annoying!!!

  • @megs905 Whats with these "thumbs up for/if" comments? They're pointless. And there's NO trace of sirens in my hometown (I live in the UK). :( I did get to see one in Hyde Park though.

  • Haha you got scared in the beginning......I did too XD

  • @Tabby266 an actually some sirenz are activated by IP(internet protocol) or by a VHF or UHF radio or summit lik that of a 2-way radio sys (walkie talkie)

  • @Tabby266 itz kind wired i remember rembering it longer than 4 months ago yeah maby i waz jus tired or i waz trippin bein a dumass lol

  • When are these sirens tested? I want to see one of them soon.

  • 0_o ugh i wouldnt wanna hear that before i die XD

  • @Tabby266 what about these ones? dont these look like sirens?

  • i really wanna know what that sound is at 0:51 is it the controller paging th siren 2 go off B.T.W. ive noticed that this dosent happen with sirens like the T-Bolt thanx in advance

  • @djkid9 that is the acctication code. the only reason the thunderbolt (or any mecanical sirens) is because the sound is electronic. if it had seacker drivers it would do it.

  • @scienceboy639 partly correct but its only seems to be whelens that actually broardcast the tones all the time i know the modulator does it when it cant understad the code :)

  • for people who have not watched the video yet it starts at 1:18

  • that must be a small town to have a siren that small.

  • @Droideka133 it's apart of the Millstone nuclear power plant's old siren system. The WS-2012 seen in the video was the 2nd smallest in the non rotational WS-2000 series. The WS-2008 was the smallest with 4 rows of 2 speakers at 800watts max (100w drivers per speaker). East Lyme has several sirens, mostly WS-2016s, which are being replaced in the entire system by WPS 2910s, which maybe fully operational by now.

  • sounds like a guy shot

  • I also want to know if that was a real woman talking.

  • How come the speaker drivers made that horrible bang when they cut on and off like that? Help me understand.

  • Can anyone tell me why there was a loud bang at the start of the siren test?

  • Why was there also a bang at the end of the siren test?

  • The speakers are turning on and off. It is a real girl talking.

  • crazywarriorman, thanx for answering my question! :)

  • @crazywarriorman nope its a recorded message.

  • @scienceboy639 Oh well.

  • hehe, at the beginning.... BANG :D

  • lmfao the siren started to feedback

  • Wtf was that bang that made you jump?

  • it was the speaker drivers cutting on. They usually pop only when the drivers cut off.

  • thank you for posting this video. I always wondered if Millstone did attack or wail along with alert for their tests (all people have told me was an "up and down sound"). Reminds me of CT Yankee's annual tests (alert only). oddly our WS 2008s (2 installed, 4 others not yet installed) do a 1050hz BEEEEEEEP! for 3 seconds before going into voice (also done live) and don't POP! before the announcment (they sure do after). Also the DTMF is not boradcast over the sirens, just over the radios.

  • Those are some healthy drivers!

  • Great sounding Whelen WS-2012! :)
