The fact that he is fighting the ventilator is good news, that means that he is strong and knows that the negative stimulus of the endotracheal tube bothers him. The white count could be related to aggravated heart failure. The mini myocardial infarction might have been brought on by fluid overload, I'm sure the doctors are diuresing him. All of the medical jargon aside, I wanted to let you know that...
I fully believe that patients can hear us when they're under sedation. You gave him an attitude before he got on the stretcher because you were caught up in the moment. Go to the hospital, talk to him and tell him how you feel. Ask the nurses to make sure it isn't upsetting him, but really go and talk to him. I've seen patients like your dad walk out of the ICU. I don't pray, I'm not a religious person. But yesterday I spent a long time sending you and your positive thoughts.

I know this is so super hard. I know that when things like this happen there seems like no reason to get up in the morning, and I know that the person who is sick is the only one on your mind. But you must take care of yourself. You can't begin to get strong for your long journey unless you do. Sleep, drink, eat. I know everything is hard, but remember you are important too. Just know he knows you love him so much. He knows. I promise. I know this is so scary. I had a very experience & the hope of God is what will keep you going. My loved one also was also sedated & on a ventilator. They CAN hear you. Everyone fights the ventilator, but its expected. Talk him through what the doctors are doing. I know it is scary when they are sedated because it feels like they arent around anymore, but the sedation is just so they arent scared & in pain. I will pray for you all. <3

I fully believe that patients can hear us when they're under sedation. You gave him an attitude before he got on the stretcher because you were caught up in the moment. Go to the hospital, talk to him and tell him how you feel. Ask the nurses to make sure it isn't upsetting him, but really go and talk to him. I've seen patients like your dad walk out of the ICU. I don't pray, I'm not a religious person. But yesterday I spent a long time sending you and your positive thoughts.
