DONT buy a Popcorn Hour C200 Device. Its Slow; it crashs and the online support is nothing than a big joke.
this device is called networked media tank. the network is not even CLOSE to normal gigabit standard speed; if you install the nmt apps the whole system freezes. you want to download stuff via nzbget with your normal download speed ? forgett it. its capped to ridicilous 1000kb/s.
@chipbite Yes, the demo was posted before the player hit the market, which is why it doesn't show everything. The C-200 and A-200 are about to receive a completely new Flash based jukebox menu system with a public firmware update. If you search Youtube for NMJ C-200 you can see a demo of what the beta version looks like.

Popcorn hour is a terrible scam. They sell for 2 what is worth one.For $300 bucks...you can buy an Asus eee box...and install one of the many marvellous media center os like Moovida or XMBC Media center...playing whatever video and audio format. They are greedy!!!
I have the PCH, try to playback 1920 x 1080 mkv through a speaker amplifier (instead of TV speakers) and watch how the lip sync issues make any mkv unwatchable. not good.
is lag of LCD. try to delae in amplifier or if you have a digital out on the TV, use this to connect to amplifier. At last you can try to dissable al the enhancement features of the LCD, this causes more lag.
$299 is probably a little steep for some people who have not really researched the capability of this device. It's not just for music and photos. Unfortunately, that's all this demo shows. I think it's a great price for what can be an all-in-one for my entertainment center. Of course, if you wanted to, you could probably build an adequate HTPC for not too much more once all other peripherals are purchased.
Anyway, thanks for the video preview. It was helpful to me since I own a legacy PCH.
@mamatoboys512 can you link me a good review for the product that showcases its fullest capability? i dont know what i can/cant do so i wouldnt know if a video is through or not. thanks.
Nice preview. I've had the A-100 since March of 2008. I didn't upgrade to the A-110. It didn't offer much more in terms of functionality. I'm considering this one. It has the option to throw in a blu ray player. The interface is a nice improvement. I have 2 large HD TV's. One has a PS3 for bluray and HD DVD player already. This device wold be for my second setup if I can stick in a LG blu ray/HD DVD combo players. Then I could stream and play all of my media off a single little device.
Ughhh!!! Dude not everyone like's this music and halfway through this video that's all there was... Trash music. If your going to play this music to try and "spread the word" limit it to 30 seconds.... Geez!!! Focusing on an amazing product is imposible in this video.

This demo sucks, it lacks how well internet services work and well it browses and plays video! I guess it is an early demo

so, your definition of "scam" is something expensive?
try to playback a 1920x1080 mkv file in assus eee. it won't run smoothly at all.
plus, popcorn hour is deadly silent.

I´m soooo jalous ! :-) Where did you get this baby in NL ? I preordered mine before 2 months - still waiting !! :-(
But a really comprehensive review - considering all of your videos from unpacking to playback.
This is the ultimate box ATM and I can´t wait getting it into my hands ! :-)

what kind of pencil-neck square actually saves these kinds of fotos to a HDD?

so after converting files to 264's, if an appletv could utilize external HDD's it would pretty much smoke the shit out of this thing?

The video covers most of my curiosity, but what about the inbuilt when browsing music? How user friendly is it?

inbuilt display
jesuschal 2 years ago
It's usable but can only hold so much info.
If you have to browse a directory of 200 mp3 files it'll be a bitch :P
Time to organize the collection :)
