  • Very nice, and I love how you included close-ups of the equine faces. There would be no chivalry without horses. :) For other horse-spotters, if you notice the brilliant palomino with Olivia's Marian, that's the original Trigger of Roy Rogers.

  • mamasita. i'm fired up. the music rules, esp from franco zeferelli's romeo & juliet, & from excalibur (wagner, i think)

about french knights: Roland, Lancelot, Joan of Arc. what more need be said?

there's a Tony Curtis movie: The Black Shield of Falworth

would Ladyhawk count for a knight flick?

  • @wrybreadspread Thank you for the nice comments! Excalibur theme is by Carl Orff, not Wagner but good guess! I think Ladyhawk would count and yes, I've seen a couple Tony Curtis medieval movies but they aren't here.

  • one of the best good job

  • You forgot the Flesh + Blood movie from which you have taken the opening soundtrack...not a very chivalric and knightly movie, i must admit ;)

  • Gorgeous editing. Well done!

  • Ever since i was a lad i always wanted to be a knight in armor looking for that princess in the evil castle tower needing to be rescued. Sir JON of the round table !! Ya thats me !!

  • All right, who are those 4 bastards who pressed the dislike? I mean, you can either like this clip, or you can simply don't care much about it, but I cannot imagine that someone would actualy dislike it. Anyway, good job Cloudidogz, the Princess of Wales should be proud.

  • I love that you included "A Knight's Tale" - even though it isn't classic - it's a VERY well done movie and def. in my top 10 of all time...the whole thing was great - esp. how you showed that every good knight needs a lady worth fighting for ;)

  • ps,..you forgot to add King Arthur(2004) Every guy in that movie is hot!

  • Bows down to El Cid and Excalibur!!

  • Thanks you very much, its a great song!

  • 00:14 and forward, which song is that?

  • @MrSvenska0rmen Hi! It's "Across the Mountains" for the movie Alexander (directed by Oliver Stone, with Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie). The composer is Vangelis.

  • I really need to know which song this is!!! please tell me i need to know its amazing

  • I like the tribute to the French knights right at the very end. Riding away from whatever danger is present with a white flag...

  • @Nitronick Thanks for viewing! Sorry, you must be mistaken. There are no French knights in this video tribute. The knight with the white flag is the legendary and very historical El Cid, the Spanish knight who led an army of Spanish and Moors to defend Valencia and defeat an invading Moorish force. In his death, he rode his horse to victory (so that was a dead knight) which turned the tide from defeat to victory. But even in death, he struck fear in his enemies and raised the morale of his men.

  • @Nitronick Oh don't be such a silly racist boy. People from that area(now called France) were above average when it comes to warefare (in comparison to other european regions). The historic records show that very clearly. One question if you mind, where are your animosities for the french come from. Do you know that, you prick?

  • @kunstsein I already replied to Nitronick and it has nothing to do with French. It's the Spanish legend El Cid and he's not running away...he's already dead riding his horse throughou the enemies.

  • Joan of arc messenger, the best one in my opinion

  • i did not know mel gibson was a knight

  • Excellent editing, and a superb choice of films and musical scores! So glad you mentioned the highly underrated Excalibur, definately one of the most beautiful films of the genre.

  • You forgot a really great film about th e middle ages called Kingdom of Heaven

  • @fairmont66 Thanks! Actually no. It's one of my favorite films but I decided not to show it since I wanted a broad representation and I already had several recent films. I wanted a span of movies over 70 years.

  • Scenes from the battle and joust from the movie " El Cid " , was one of the best battle scenes ever done in any medieval movie.

  • @themailman43 Definitely! Although the best jousting might be A Knight's Tale with a fun role played by

Paul Bettany and fantastic jousting! But the rest of the movie was not quite to par otherwise.

A type of heavily armoured Cavalry, used to devastating effect by the Persians in various battles against the Roman's. Devastating power, inflicting terrible losses on the once invincible Roman Army....

  • うおおおお、最高だ!

  • fantastic - awesome and everything GREAT - loved it

  • Thanks for viewing! The first few seconds are from Flesh and Blood (Basil Poledouris) and then Across the Mountains (Vangelis).

  • which is the name of the first song??

  • Where's Danny Kaye in the Court Jester?

  • My suit cost me 2 grand, got smashed with it at hedingham now it looks like a siev lol. excellent video, thanks for uploading

  • So good. Breath-taking scenes from epic films in better-than-life color! Brings back a lot of memories. Great shots of the handsome men and beautiful women who populated a past that never really existed. Especially liked Wallace's sword that comes down point first, the hand of the Lady of the Lake coming out of the water to make a perfect catch and the dead Cid, riding off down the beach and into the sunset. Thanks for this and please make more. I promise not to criticize!

  • @McGrenzer I have a similar one, "Romance and Adventure" with swashbucklers and it's actually better I think...but youtube removed a 3rd video of my series (ancient epics).

  • If only I could joust with someone to settle differences...life would be easier. All hail the glory of battle and the chivalrous knight.

  • KRZYZACY, Kingdom of Heaven, Henry V with Kenneth Brannah.

  • @chrshammer I love Kingdom of Heaven but decided not to since I wanted an historical spread of movies over 70 years (1930s-2000s) and recent films were represented by Braveheart and A Knight's Tale.

  • Great video, thank you for posting it!

  • Flesh+Blood music Kicks everything !

  • what is music of the begining from 0,15s

  • @241benoit Hi! It's Flesh and Blood Theme by Basil Poledouris.

  • what is the music in beginning from 0,15 s?

  • Ivanohe and knights of the round table are the best.

  • The beginning of the video is awesome , it just makes me cant wait for my first reenactment :)

  • Great video

  • How Exciting !!!!

Ladies..... See ROMANTIC movie clip A knight and his lady

  • For my DG from your one and only DK XXXP,P,P!!

  • @mcqueen5 I wish I could decipher this...

  • theres a movie i think polish or russian about the tetuanic order

  • Nice work :-) Though I find the inclusion of Mel Gibson as William Wallace to be less "knightly" and more "medievaloid" It's still an awesome job :-)

Oh, and Liz Taylor was a smokin hottie back in the day.

  • Fantastic !!

  • I wish they would make a film of the life of William Marshal... That, in my opinion would be epic! From his nearly being hanged at the age of ten by King Stephen whilst his father watched... all the way up till he was regent of England and fought off the French invaders then made a knight templar on his death bed for helping in the crusade! I love him! 'The flower of chivalry' 'the greatest knight'

    Thanks for uploading! <3

  • Also, what was the music from 0:17 - 4:36 - I love it!!!

  • @MiraSekelsky...thanks for the generous comments! The music is Across The Mountains from the soundtrack for the film Alexander...composer is Vangelis.

  • @cloudidogz Thanks!

  • Oh my gosh I LOVE the music! What a FABULOUS montage! I love all things Anglo-Saxon / Medieval / Arthurian, so this is fantastic!!

Thanks for uploading in stunning quality!

  • It's Knights of the Round Table

  • this is hard to watch all the way thru because it keeps pausing.

  • Hi, here are a couple suggestions: often that may be your modem, router or server. If you are trying to view HD, if your server/signal is too weak, it loads too slow. So, either view in small non-HD screen or wait 2-3 minutes til most of the video loads and then start play. Hope that helps!

  • @cloudidogz Thanks!

  • @crowleysridgegirl It is probably my server/router,I have wireless and it usually happens when I try to watch this. Not watching in HD however.Sometimes I just sit and wait it out because it is such a good video!

  • Thanks! I know...some of my friends have trouble even without HD. We're sitting on their computers watching youtube and sometimes even ethernet (much less wireless) is slow.

  • wow excellent i like !!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Music..some truly Classic Medieval Film clips too...love it

    RIP Heath Ledger

  • Great video, scenes & music selection! Do you have all these films? I would like to have some old ones which are difficult to be found. Do you know if and where I could order them from?

  • is this a movie and were can i buy it ?

  • I love these movies, such a great inspiration when I compose music. Thanks.

  • I'm glad you put the old 1950's Ivanhoe in there, that still has the most realistic jousting scene I've ever seen with no camera trickery.

  • thanks! I don't like any of them had special effects but they used the camera at different angles and with high speed film.

  • This is brilliant! Very well done!

    I love knights too ^_^

  • What about Kingdom of Heaven?

  • Yes, love that movie too! But so many choices...

  • You should have included also First Knight and Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves.. both incredible movies, who got somewhat underrated (First Knight mainly because he was out the same year as Braveheart).

  • Thanks. Those movies would be ncie to have in this but... It was meant as a tribute to 70 years of medieval movies so I spreaded the movies rather than have one period overrepresented. Anyhow, Braveheart is a much better movie than First Knight although the latter is Arthurian.

  • which movie is the one with all the templars riding?

  • Ivanhoe

  • Lovely scene of Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren @ 7:34!

  • Liam neeson = Gawain in Excalibur... he is hard to spot though even watching the movie (he looks way young)

  • Good eyes!!

  • And carian Hinds is to his right @ 4:23.

  • he is dueling with lancaelot isnt hard to spot at all.

Patrick stewart and gabriel bryne made appearances also.

  • Beautiful job.

Good to meet old friends again.

  • nice..nice..

    thanks..thanks..

  • Great job.

  • Beautiful. All my childhood (and later) dreams and ideals here....

  • Please could you tell me the title of the music that sounds at minute 5?,. is very nice and i don´t remember exactly the title..

    Lot of thank´s,greetings from Spain

  • It is Nino Rota's Romeo and Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli.

  • Thank´s A LOT

    Very nice music..

  • Very very enjoyable, thank you.

  • i like to think of my self as a knight

  • whats the song + movie at 4:17 ? sounds cool

  • Maybe at 4:38? "Romeo and Juliet" was composed by Nino Rota with Sophia Loren opening the door in "El Cid".

  • 4:38? is that the same song as 4:17?

  • Exactly at 4:17...and then to like 4:22? That's "Braveheart" when William Wallace (Mel Gibson) gets knighted. And the music from 0:14 to 4:35 is "Over the Mountains" by Vangelis for the movie "Alexander."

  • wonderful, amazing

  • Best sound quality, best picture and splendid editing, I were impressed!

The movie which took up is a picture with the consistency, a splendid sense!

I felt your feelings in search of a good thing!

    Thank you for upload!

  • what are the names of the songs in the video

  • Thanks for viewing! Also in info on right:

In order, music by Basil Poledouris (Flesh and Blood), Vangelis (Alexander), Nino Rota (Romeo and Juliet), Carl Orffs O Fortuna (from Carmina Burana) and Siegfrieds Funeral March (from Gotterdammerung by Richard Wagner).

  • Such a wonderful tribute! I enjoyed it.

  • What can I say aside from IT' S GREAT !!

    Congratulations . Really a must-see.

  • Wow! Doug, you seem to be a great romantic making such fantastic videos! Fitting music, amazing quality! And thank you for including my favourite Ava Gardner!

  • love the beginning!! Princess of Wales!! haha. The grandeur is surreal, all those knights, all those battles, all those heroes, and with that music! My fav part has to be the love scenes, all the beautiful damsels, fitted perfectly to Romeo & Juliet, and well finishing with the swords... GENIUS!! An absolute pleasure to watch, there was something really professional about this one. One of the best videos I've ever seen. Sensational stuff!!

  • amazing vid!!!!!! really well done!
