  • Complete un-scientific nonsense in a Michael Bay movie? Holy shit. I'm in shock.

  • Why didn't they have gas masks ??

  • this is wrong, V-X is a nerve agent which causes massive mucel contractions that will lead to suffocation, think of it as a giant hiccup. VX though DOES NOT cause that

  • Oh and how would you guys especially the ones who have been near these gasses your the ones I honesty would try to watch. Just kidding!

  • With you guys and the arguments over WMDs especially chemical ones while your pretty knowledgeable it some times makes me wonder if you all might start world war 3 but I shouldn't be talking as me and my uncle have an unhealthy obssesion over existing WMDs and ones the krauts tried to make that would've peeled this Earth like an orange.

  • thats not how VX works... blah blah.... Its a movie! just like under 'the rock' there are still gas works and huge mechanical things still working in abandoned parts of the island... or americans letting a top security prisoner help with the rescue, one that holds secrets the US does not want anyone knowing about...

    ITS A MOVIE! :p

  • Hollywood bullshit, because VX has no green color, it has no color at all.

  • @Ethereal1967 - You will find its the glass balls that are green, the liquid is clear as seen towards the end of the film.

  • Why weren't they wairing gas sutes? Man my spelling sukes!

  • Made by Michael Bay

REALLY ROCK WAS DIRECTED BY MICHAEL BAY

  • Its a times like this that I hate Hollywood. Thats NOT how VX works.

  • if you want blistering they should of used mustard gas : O

  • Ouch! That looks horribly painful! Skin boiling and melting like burning citronella wax, and all those convulsions, that has got to be the number 1 most painful way to die! Never, ever mess around or near VX under ANY circumstances if you don't want that to happen to you.

  • NOVA 6!!

  • I Remember this scene from way back when i was a kid, it scared the crap out of me at first, i thought that it was Cyanide gas at first and it led to the conclusion of my belief that ALL Gas chambers used those kind of balls for the Gas to react with... Ahh well such are the days of childhood...

  • Yeh the VX might be some Scary stuff tho we can realy only put things as Scary as they Truely and Knowingly are meening we must know how deadly it is b4 writeing shit saying its like the deadlyist thing known to man... Such as a Physical Demenstration on a Forien Controuy what was used on the Kurds might be true or Media Bull!@#$ if u git what i meen the death toll cud of been Less we must know its real effects and by thet i meen a Theral Test to see what it can realy do n how Deadly it is...

  • this is soman or sarin no VX

  • @PolskiNacjonalista89

Neither. Those are both nerve agents. This would have to be a blister, and there are no blister agents that act like this.

  • @MAOfights VX is a nerve agent though. lethal at 30 micrograms and yeah you die a slow and painful death after ur heart stops and u cant feel a thing

  • @Avatar230594

Trust me.....I know a lot about VX. I have actually been in a room with the stuff. Death would be relatively fast and very painful. You would only not feel a thing by either going into shock or dying.

  • @MAOfights This is clearly dramatized, but Lewisite and Phosgene Oxime both cause instant blistering (within 20 secs of exposure). The latter has not been stockpiled, but the US had arsenals of Lewisite (not sure what the status of their destruction is). Not sure if there are assembled weapons with this mix, but Sarin/Mustard combination has a very low freezing point and enhanced dermal toxicity relative to Sarin by itself--ideal for chemical combat in the tundra against Soviets :)

  • lol some of these coments are comical. VX and other organophosphates such as sarin and tabum, are aceytlcholineesterase inhibitors. This enzyme breaks down acetylcholine, which is a neuro transmitter. With no enzyme to break down aceytlcholine your nerves fire like crazy causing convulsions and eventually respiratory failure. I believe 30microns is the lethal dose if inhaled, and death can be within minutes. Its terrible stuff.

  • @greg101 30micrograms, Sarin is 500 times more potant than cyanide. The japanese felt that when Aum released Sarin in the Tokyo subway in 1995.

  • @230hpfocus

When Saddam used VX against the Kurds, there were over 4000 deaths...

  • @230hpfocus it wouldn't take vx nerve gas 10 days to kill if u where not a retard u would know that vx gas is the deadliest in the world and that it only takes a few minutes to kill not 10 days

  • @230hpfocus

Where do you get your information? Saddam used VX against the Kurds, and death was very, very quick. Also, VX was not stored in Kentucky or Colorado....try Alabama, Arkansas and Utah. Key word being "was".

  • nerve gas vx gas and nerve agents are different and they do different things nerve gas makes your insides foam and you barf them out vx gas is more advanced it is obsorbed by the skin or mucus membrane when inhaled and it boils your flesh vx agent will cause convulsions that will make your body break itself apart

  • WTF, you should use google, you are so wrong, boils your flesh, what a tool. VX nerve gas is a persistent nerve agent, and just like other G nerve agents can be absorbed in to the body though skin, eyes and mucus membrane. Nerve agents do not make your insides foam for barf, nerve agents including VX inhibit signals in the brain, basically block control over the body, and infected bodies die from not being able to breath or heart failure.

  • no.

  • @loosifur Lol dude you don't know what you're talking about. The closest thing to this movie's version of VX is mustard gas, which causes painful blisters on the skin over a matter of days. Nothing exists that boils the skin or foams the insides.

  • vx is a nerve agent... look it up and stop talking like u know things...

  • vx gas and nerve agents are not the same stop talking like you know things

  • shit i fell sorry for that poor dude the pain he went through omg i nearly threw up because i know that has really happened to people .... :'(

  • lawl. our psych teacher told us about this. u actually brake most of the bones in ur body, then ur internal organs begin to desinagrate and u puke them out as youre dying. (dont get ur info from wikipedia XD)

  • it doesn't disintegrate anything. It`s a nerve agent meaning it interacts with your nervous system, attaching itself to your neurons, causing continuous spasms. The main lethal effect of VX is that it contracts lungs, throat, and causes suffocation. And though a very cool thought, does not melt skin. But you will puke, due to contractions, just not your organs. Of course there is no recorded lethality from VX, so we`ll never know for sure.

  • I have to agree with you SatanicKitteh, it isnt as fast as the film makes out. Some sources even claim that you can get help in several hours if in small quantities... not that I'd actually try that myself seening as those six hours are probably rather painful.

The other thing is regarding the antidote.... they recommend in the film to inject the one needle and everything is fine. The reality is that you need several needles, one of Atropine, one of Paradoxamine and one of Diezipam.

    Painful.

  • @mjhansford

yeah and not only do you need those 3 (diazepam if seizures), you need them multiple doses of them.

  • @ paintballers: VX is in the chemical category organophosphate, VX is not that chemical. VX can be absorbed through the skin, both in liquid and in vapor form, but is 100s of times more effective when inhaled. You do not "vomit your guts out", But uncontrollable nausea and vomiting are characteristic of VX exposure. Your skin does not melt off, but spasms do occur. Breathing is inhibited, but death is not instantaneous, from vapor exposure, death can take 3-20 minutes.

  • lol yea VX definetly doesnt do that lol it would be a lot slower (15minutes) and a lot more agonizing .. no blisters either lol good movie tho

  • wtf this is (according the movie any way) one of the most dangerous most volatile nerve agents in ever created. so what do they choose as a storage vessel?.....baubles. wicked

  • This is actually what vx does. it causes you to spasm so hard your freakin back breaks, you cant breathe, your skin melts off, you vomit your own innards out, and then die. its what happens when they combine a blister agent with vx gas.

  • It is called a chemical called organophosphate

  • 0,0000000001ml/ km2 are letal, is incredible the dangerous that it is.

  • Actualy, it allows signals to the muscles the contract, but blocks the signals undoing the first sginals.

  • .....Thanks?

  • VX Gas doesn't really do that....does it?

  • That more resembles the effcts of a blister agent, VX is a nerve agent.

  • Yeah this stuff is real, Saddam Huessain used it against the kurds

  • Saddam used mustard gas, he didn't have VX.

  • uh... Vx gas is NOT a blister agent... it's a NERVE agent... that guy should be twitching and choking on the floor... not bloating... but oh Hell! Hollywood, you and your bullshit...!

  • Yeah, i guess lying on the floor choking to death was not as cool as having the face melt of :O

  • @Heishirosuke VX is an anticholinesterase aka acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. On top of overstimulating your muscles and inability to relax your respiratory muscles (causing apnea), it also stops your heart and does everything that muscarinic receptors in your body will do: you'll salivate, urinate, lacrimate, defecate, and sweat (probably what's causing the blistering).

  • @photosbyms well its tru the last thing u do b4 u die is crap urself. But here u'll also piss urself, druel everywhere and make a sweaty mess

  • @photosbyms you're on point. I still don't agree with the whole blistering (perhaps you're trying to imply it's due to the sweat glands failing to, well, sweat?). I'm gonna have to brush up on that.

  • @Heishirosuke Who gives a fuck. This is a movie, and a damned good one. If you want total accuracy on the chemical in question, go watch the History Channel.

  • @Heishirosuke its also a powerful acid so at that concentration he would experience some kind of bloating but this is clearly exggerated. the other problem with this is that VX is a thick oily substance which has to be particulated in an explosion to be effective. goo would come out of the green sphere but would not poison anyone

  • @mardlinator I think you're forgetting that it can be absorbed through the skin therefore, it can still be very lethal, especially if in contact with the mucous membranes. Other than that I think you nailed it too

  • @Heishirosuke only if you are stupid enough to go touch the green poisonous goo...

  • @mardlinator lol!

  • i want to make that on chemistry class :(

  • it can be sprayed but the droplets are heavy so they fall to the ground. and it can stay there for 4 to 7 days depending on the weather. It only takes a drop the size of Lincolns eye on a penny in your blood to kill you. Check out the chemical vids on my page.

  • no shit?

  • VX is like oil so you would be ok unless it was on your skin.

  • I've seen the movie. HE would get out. But VX doesnt work that way. It damages the nerves. So will die becuase no breath

  • That guy probably would have made it out before the VX got to him...

  • Lmao aww aww awwson sit down son.
