I have only played this game twice I play it similar to you, my personal score is 29 but my uncle plays this with his boys and usually gets around 40 points.

With the E deck random, at least 55 points every game.

according to boardgamegeek, the record is 70 points solo in a family game

eBay may be tricky just because there is such a large number of pieces, and it may be hard to tell whether it is the first released version (with the misprinted cards) or the corrected version
