  • DAT FREE ENERGY!!!!

  • centralia pennsylvania has one burning since 1962, nobody seems wooied about that one.

  • then let us not fail comrades. to fusion we will work.

  • and uranium is getting expensive

we are running out...of materials to give us energy.

If we fail to make Fusion energy, the future would be dark and harsh

  • The Lord can put them out when he comes back. I, therefore, am not worried about it.

  • there is enough chinese people to piss those fires out.. just kidding.

it's a loosing battle even if they could get the fires extinguished. they will burn it all up in coal powered electric plants. we are burning up the earths organic mater faster than it can regenerate.

  • The fires are literally impossible to put out - True story.

  • So they want to tax our farmers for cows while China pollutes more and more.

This is a plot to make the United states not competitive on any level. follow the money.

  • Put out the fires, solve global warming.

  • I am against "earth control" to such a ridiculous extent as to be detrimental to man. It's unnatural, but it's also unbeneficial to people. I do not at all expect for China or other countries to "control" their birthrate, as in nature, especially with supposedly intelligent human life, life seeks to spread to fill most every available niche. Trying to impose "control" on uncontrollable coal fires, is too much "earth control." We can't control volcanos either?

    Let coal fires burn unchallenged.

  • pro, sorry you missed it. Many of the fires are manmade, it's expensive, but doable to extinguish them, Extinguishing them would offset greenhouse gasses.

  • I understand how the underground coal fires are supposedly man-made. Coal sometimes can ignite spontaneously. Problem is, that even at low temperatures, it reacts with oxygen in an exothermic reaction. Meaning it gives off heat. It's a slow enough reaction, that in smaller quantities, there's little risk. But underground, heat can build to ignition temperatures, and the oxygen leaks in through fissures, keeping it going. That sounds rather "natural," but mining "disturbs" it. But we must mine!

  • However, if we find ourselves heading into an ice age ,we may want to consider re-igniting them!

  • Igniting underground or coal-seam fires, would be foolish, would produce too much smoke, and never enough heat to warm the planet. Even our parents tell us to keep the door shut, for "You can't heat the outdoors."

And of course, we may need the coal for fuel to heat our homes, and to power electricity power stations.

But similarly, once the coal underground is on fire, I suspect it's not cost-effective to fight it. By excessive "earth control" we run up costs and still make little difference.

  • pro, I was referring to greenhouse gas, heating, if true, not thermal heating, for god's sake! Where, are you from?

  • Yeah, I am well aquainted with the various hokey "Greenhouse Effect," "Global Warming," and "Climate Change" theory scare-tactics globalist power-mad nonsense propaganda.

But I don't think we can "heat" the planet, even by supposedly "trapping" the sun's heat. It's not an "imbalance" at all, but all the sun's heat, ultimately escapes back to outer space. If the planet warmed slightly, it would boost heat loss, a natural moderator. Water is the biggest "greenhouse gas," but how to blame on man?

  • Extinguishing the fires presents a relatively quick way to get so-called "greenhouse gases under control.

  • Not really. Stuff I read, only claims underground coal fires to be a small percentage of total global CO2. And another problem with trying to impose "control" upon this natural emissions of CO2, is that then, it lets enviro-wackos put too much focus back upon human activities again. Look, if nature is the biggest "polluter," then man's additional contributions, may not be really that big a deal.

Can we stop up every volcano? I really don't think we should intervene, when not even cost-effective

  • Extinguishing the fires, presents a relatively quick way to get so-called "greenhouse gases under control.

  • There's an echo in here!

  • I don't think I have seen a dumber human being. Calling million year old gases a problem. That The Earth has lived with them ans out of no where they start acting on the environment? Jeez, Global Warming = dumb.

  • There's problems with the underground coal fires gases. That's a practical reason why people shouldn't too much get too close, and just let them burn naturally

The planet can easily deal with them, but we should be careful not to get too close, because they can be toxic, when we get too close. Also, the ground can cave in, due to the shrinking of coal seams, as the fire naturally progresses

We NEED cheap affordable energy, and MUST expand coal mining and coal power plants, or expand something!

  • " Pronatalist " Let me guess, you're Chinese, aren't you?

  • And why would I be Chinese? Because so many coal fires are burning in China? No, I live in the U.S. and was born here. I agree with China building more coal-fired power plants, and I think we should build more as well. Coal is cheap and abundant, although dirty to mine. I would rather use something else, but the "environmental" extremists have blocked almost everything. I am for natural, unhindered human population growth, which requires cheap and dependable energy to power growing cities.

  • Stupid idiot. We don't need humans to destroy the earth with dirty coal. Humans should spay and neuter themselves but even if they all do that it might be too late.

  • @ZeroHumans you gonna go blow up discovery channel?

  • @henryduncan what does discovery channel have to do with it???

  • @ZeroHumans there was a guy who took the discovery channel building in Maryland hostage a few weeks back. His motivation was they didnt do enough to promote environmental protection and stop overpopulation. He ended up being shot to death by police, so i guess he's a little closer to his goal of reducing the population.

  • @henryduncan well no population is great but that guy's an idiot best way is use taxes to pay some hero scientists to engineer an airborn virus that stops humans from breeding like flies. They can release the virus in the jet stream and humans will go extinct. That would be humane! We can force the disgusting humans to clean up all their garbage before they extinct. earth will be finally be at peace, no more psycho humans raping the earth and killing everything!!! :)

  • Yea, once again from europe. CO2 is more lethal than, Oh say , the million or so tonnes of gasseous mercury that are coming out of the same fires. When will europe pull its head out of its ass and look at the REAL pollution issues?
