  • White and Nerdy... perfect ending LOL

  • Wow, those really work I can tell from your voice. I don't hear any bass :)

  • nice helpfull

  • What program do you use for recording/editing sound?

  • how do you hang them on the wall?

  • 5:12 is a job for Better Homes & Gardens hahaha. (Sorry, I'm also a craft nut).

The Aboriginal art print is awesome! Of course, if I did it, I'd have probably sourced some binary print material (to match my binary print slanket [snuggie]). Nerdy!

  • It's called Reverberation! REPEAT! Reverberation! Wrong terminology :P

I should send you my DIY studio setup assignment I did for AV installs class. The doona was optional!

"Reverb a problem? STICK A DOONA IN THE CORNER!"

  • I like the black ones, but the fish-lookin' ones I don't like. You did a great job putting those together. I want to do it, but I have nowhere to put them with panel walls and ceiling xD.

  • You are staple-happy, my friend. It happens to me as well every time I decide to wield a staple gun :)

  • omg, metric lumber! im jelous!

    stuff i've found that works:

    corner traps

    carpet

    rugs

    cloth couch

  • thanks man my mom gets annoyed at my drumming without acoustic stuff hahaha

  • Hi Nice video. Where can i get the Polyester Rolls from?

  • "The wife didn't approve"

  • What is the RT60 time now? :P

  • aparently it matches !!

  • white 'n nerdy - WIN!

  • wife aproved :):)

  • LOL check out the hand at 07:02

  • By far the cheapest option is egg carton bottoms. The egg "dips" absorb extra sound. Like eggs? :-)

  • It is well known that the human body is a good sound dampener, so that is a good excuse to have some in the studio. Of course, you will want the kind that has those big, absorbant cones on the front.

    It's worth a shot. :-)

  • lol , the mollusk on your fabric looks like a RGB Led :)

  • Woodworking with Dave !

  • New career possibility: Dave's Home Improvement Show! ;-)

  • Dave, what are your walls made of?

  • There is some weird electronic noise in the parts with increased speed. What is it?

  • What kind of mic do you use?

  • what a difference with voice!!

  • Since when does the wife have to approve of something? This sounds like prison.

  • @heroineworshipper Sounds like you're not married (grin).

  • good job. Nice fabric choices by the wife!

  • Is "White and Nerdy" the new "Dave" standard for music test and echo test for music?

  • "to see if you can actually see the difference"

    Of course you could.

  • @criscros7 yeah, if you could visualize it, you could optimize the location of the panels to get the best result, and see how factors like thickness of the foam changes the result.

  • @criscros7 LOL, did I say that? *face palm* I do that all the time now, like I call my AmpHour listeners "viewers" :->

  • Yeah I definitely heard a difference.. it would be interesting if you could play sounds and somehow record the echo, and look at the way the waveform looks on the computer to see if you can actually see the difference.

  • @kekejojo1212 Yeah, I could do more in-depth analysis by capturing recording during sweeps and bursts etc, but too much effort! "it works" and that's good enough for me at this stage.

  • This boots are made for... power tools? Only in Australia where You find crocodiles in kitchen + after dark kids can be kidnapped by spiders ;-)

  • Fantastic Dave, there's still a little reverb from the cieling, but overall it's great.

  • @regeu Yeah, not perfect, but not a big deal, more than does the job I think. After all, it was fine before with the pillows, just wanted to tidy that up and get a bit better performance.

  • Who would have thought that I would learn upholstery techniques from an EEVblog. Nice job.

  • It is amazing that you can do all that stuff in DaveCAD, such a good software

  • @jfernandmy I love DaveCAD. So cheap :)

  • 11:22 editing fail! although I must admit, your editing skills have greatly improved since the beginning of the show.

  • @jerzmacow Yeah, oops, missed that one. I didn't review before uploading.

  • Wow, that is a huge difference! Great work

  • White and nerdy!!!!!!

  • Dave grew an extra hand just for the cutting :)

  • I wonder what the insulation tastes like.

  • 3:46 Ouch, I stapled my toes, LOL

4:30 I can sence the Magic Powers from here :)

  • Very practical.

    Very wild & Nerdy!,

    Thanks for the idea.

  • if those are 25 bucks each the polyester must be kinda high.

  • @MrOne2watch The material was >$10/m. Polyester was $135 for 10m and I only used 4m, so under $7/panel.

  • Nice Double Plugga safety boots Dave :)

  • How much did the whole roll cost?!

  • @illusionLord About $135 for 10m, I only used 4m.

  • MMMM I'v always wanted to eat polyester!

  • also, knowing the science always make design better so what is the science here? what is sound absorption.. it's something to do with impedance mismatch I think

  • good video.

it might be the case however that the environment just around the studio mike is more important than the echo in the room at large. with my setup I get the sense that the table wants to sing along and maybe the things on it. not sure

  • Yay for audacity

  • Check, check, 1 2 3. Yep, Dave is still white and nerdy!

  • Whats the name of the acoustic material you used? and rough price?

  • @KIllaCuzza Tontine Acoustisorb 3, $135/10m

  • dave's ridin' dirty xD

  • Awesome.

  • Dave...gratz...great diy video! a suggestion for the next diy studio equipment....a simple but useful headphone amplifier...

  • When you asked to put headphones and doing the "Check check" thingy, I didnt heard much echo really its very acceptable to me!

But when you talked to the camera after panels removed I heard a hell lot of a echo!

  • Very well done Dave, you make us proud!

  • Great job as always Dave. I love the feeling of a DIY job well done and the panels look excellent. I'm planning a little cinema project for the summer and hope to do something very similar.

    Cheers

  • @xspoonedx Yeah, it was a lot of work, but very satisfying in the end.

  • I was thinking that your room had a lot of echo with the panels on the wall but when you took them off... wow I've never heard a room echo so bad. What do they build houses out of in Australia?

  • the golden ratio could sound better xD

    classic Dave

  • There you go!!

Good info for all the DIY studio guys out there!

  • Thanks Dave,

What video editing programme(s) do you use?

  • @joshstube VideoStudio Pro X4

  • Great info. Thanks!
