  • Bloody courage they have to pull this off

  • Good reporting but not great. She left out the origins of this conflict and poverty. In 1961, Patrice Lumumba was killed by the CIA and the Belgians because of his Pan Africanist views. Which basically means. That if Africa has the most abundant amount of the world's natural resources. Africa should control and benefit from it. Call it racist, colonialism or evil. But they didn't like that. So they had him killed and put a kleptocrat in his place. This is the results. Libya: 20 years from now.

  • Fantastic reporting. Steel nuts.

  • They forgot the iPad

  • how pathetic ...a white woman going to where gang rape is second nature...she is asking for it....i tell you....with all her blonde hair....acting like she owns the world.

  • @eblip huh? whats your bloody point? whay is that pathetic? and if its so pathetic, you get your bumbuclaut out there then!

  • at the end of the day its the corrupt african leaders who are the problem...not us buying the resources.

in that case all resource taking is wrong from anywhere

    stop being hypocrits.

the real sufferer is the planet.

so throw away your mobile phones, tv's watches , computers cars...and tehn speak...otherwise stfu.

  • It is by no mistake that when I created the earth I deposited some of the richest minerals and ores in Africa. The Lord showed me that when the colonial power in Congo left in the 60's, a great power vacuum was left also in the spirit and the hurried nature in which they left without leaving sound leadership opened the door to a spirit of division.

  • I hate mobile phones as it is and this just makes me hate them even more. No mobile phone for me.

  • @fireicer continue using your aliminium cans tied to a string

  • @blackpassenger nooo i prefer using a land line or better yet talk face to face, its far more personal and much more dignified lol

  • @fireicer thank god that makes 2 people!!

  • Great job. Congrats and go on. Thanks

  • Congrat..we need This kind of journalism...this is time for revelation of reality, and if the main streem media do not ..we will.......all respect for your work.

  • Asian wives waiting # lushfmlk.info #

  • Dude, Europeans left Africans the way they are by invading them hundreds of years ago and cultivating their people as slaves. Now if you look at the majority of these countries, their median age is 18 which means there are more children and teenagers than adults. How can a society improve when the small handful of adults are corrupt and the rest of the nation(s) are uneducated youths forced to seek survival skills of animals. Not to mention Europeans contaminated these people with Christianity!

  • Congo - Happy Birthday 30-6-2010

Lumumbashi c'est ancient Elisabethville. J'etais la pendant les annes 90'

La biere etait tres bonne: Pumba biere a la tradition Belge. Je souviens les deux

Grecs. "We are traders" il disait. Aussi je me souviens les grandes maisons coloniale avec les piscines snas l'eau et les fenetres sans vitrines.

    Bonne 50 anniversaire DRC.

  • I can't lie...this is painful. We have to do more than blog.

  • the more documentaries and campaigns like this one, the better. The first step to over coming these situations is awareness and education. The consumer has a strong say in where products etc come from. If we start by attacking the multi national corporations who buy the coltan, they wont want their reputation tarnished, they'll fix it. Just the same with fair trade coffee and cocoa beans. Same scenario just bigger.

  • Faaaarck. That chicks got some massive cojones... . Well reported btw

  • why don't the world wage a war against the mobile phone companies. Make them find some other way to build the things that they make. or make them rightfully pay the miners better earnings. and get on those greedy war lords and greedy leaders in Africa. God Bless The World! God Bless The people of Africa!

  • 12:10. Our eyes are the mirror of our souls...

  • WHY!....i wouldnt watch this if i did not have to..but i have to right a summary about it so sucks.......BUT. interesting

  • Sadly, & I know people are going to disagree, but the only way to bring order to that nation would be basically, a full scale UN invasion & installing a provisional government & laws & a constitution. It would never happen. It would take a minimum of 1+ million troops, the country is so large. & 100's of billions just to build a basic infrastructure. It's a shame. the DRC has the potential to be a great nation. Size, resources, population, everything except a legitimate & working government.

  • you are wrong. the worst option is a "militarized humanitarian intervention" (what an oxymoron). Without sufficient development and structure, the country could slip back into conflict just as easily. What they need is a suitable government, one provided with adequate resources, and as well increased development in the interior. If you put white UN troops in there, you will find that those rebel militias will easily join up with each other and fight the invading force. millions more will die.

  • It's ALL the USA's fault. They are the only country that uses cell phones. The rest of the world uses string attached to Styrofoam cups. & don't blame China for anything. I bet none of Africa's resources go there. Why would they since everybody knows China has no industrial capacity. They are strictly an agricultural society & concentrate only on growing rice. Finally, everybody knows, Africans don't kill Africans. It must be the West doing all the slaughtering in the DRC. So blame them.

  • Right. Lets just keep up the rape of the Congo and not do our part to stop it because our patriotic pride is hurt. Good idea.

  • Guys who r saying that this isnt real IT SO IS did you that each day over 1450 PEOPLE died get raped or displaced(meaning to get FORCED out thier homes) you need to know this is an issue that shown as not big but it is

  • Can someon help us peple from Congo? Oh God

  • The problem is that even if the rest of the world stopped getting their minerals from the Congo, even more people would suffer as it would take their jobs away. DRC is very rich in minerals and poverty shouldn't be an issue, which means someone is making a huge profit...likely their corrupt government and military!!

  • This is a myth. All of the man hours that go into mining, which isn't useful to the people, would be redirected toward USEFUL ends. I.E., clearing and working the land, building improved shelter, health and human services. This notion that countries need an export commodity to thrive is absurd and dangerous.

  • How come everyone of you dick heads blames america ? Don't your own countries use alot of goods ? I don't even own a cellphone, but I bet you do .

  • @mwillblade But obviously you own a computer right? Cobalt & Coltan is used in Computers too. So you are just as guilty as the rest of us. Stop acting self righteous.

  • @TheSonsOfLight WTF are you babbling about ?

  • @mwillblade : If you don't understand what I said there really is no sense in explaining. Peace.

  • U.S. voracious consumption results!

  • Of course American consumption is part of the problem. We'll spend billions of dollars a year on chocolate that was made by slaves in the Ivory Coast, but we won't spend one cent on helping victims of our own greed in the Congo.

  • i dont believe it is our consumption that drives the autrocities. but the fact that these trifling ass corporates dont wanna pay for shit. and totally marginalize the life of AFricans. if they had some since of self respect and respect for life they would respectfully come in and ask and pay for people to be relocated and employ people and pay for what they take but that would be too much like right. insted their few/many agents on the grnd in congo making and negotiating their low life deals.

  • @evolvingwisdom i don't think copping out behind "corporations are evil" is really gonna work for this one...

there's a lot more to it than that

  • @evolvingwisdom

Relocate them from the area they are mining coltan? Coltan draws conflict.

  • the irony is that the reporter in on the cell phone (15:04) Wonder if it has coltan in it.

  • Wow, the world is even more fucked up than I thought. I didn't think that was possible. I wish I had known about this before buying a cell & laptop. What's even more fucked up is I wouldn't even know about this had I not bought a computer!

  • The very least we can do is to recycle our e-waste. Please for the people in the Congo and for our Mother Earth.

  • and people dont believe in Hell.

stop yaking.. turn OFF your "Hellphone".

  • that was superb!!

  • geezis godd,,,pray for africa

  • This is why I don't own a mobile phone

  • MY god. Look at the miners face at 21:35 when they tell him what coltan is used for. Its quick and it only lasts a second; but, Its a moment where you can acctually witness the human soul sheding a single teer.War is a game of animals gnashing at each other for scraps of meat that if they only shared would fulfill all. In a still moment like this it reminds you that Human beings are trampled under the feet of these inhumane beasts. If you pray...pray for this man, pray for his peace.

  • who are you calling animals and who are you calling human beings? Praying for these people will do nothing. It is OUR consumption that drives this war and violence. Maybe you should reevaluate your life and figure out what is really important before you start calling people inhuman for being stuck in a really shitty position.

  • I Stayed in Kinshasa for 6 months ( aug 07-Jan 08 ) And The Chinese signed a 77 Billion dollar agreement with the Congolese govt. The Chinese are also fueling this fire.

  • This video is awesome! So comlex!Concentrating on exploitation by the Western World, there is another interesting subject is lying beneath, which is'HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES'especially whereabout CHILDREN are being exploited. I've heard so many other Countries are using child labour as well. How on earth it can happen at all!??I think there should be no excuses whatsoever by any Government to allow anything like that to happen. I want to see evidence that Human Rights are being practiced in these...

  • Sat Purusha!

  • How about China and India? both will surpassed the U.S. as biggest consumers of tech. and especially cell phones. China has much more cell phones usage than the U.S.! Also don't forget Japan, Korea and many other asian countries! last time I checked asians weren't considered western world!

  • why doesnt the whole fukin world know whats going on here?? easy for the west to invade countries with oil and tell us there leaders are dictators even after they supported them in war! easy to change minds when money is involved!

  • the whole world share complicity in Human suffering.

  • exactly , they close their eyes to genocide of million people when their interests are in danger.

  • How about the asian countries? like China? uses more cell phones than anybody! and Japan, Korea? They use just as much or more than the west of Africa's natural resources! But of course the U.S. always gets the blame for asians using resources too!

  • @ikeano29 who the fuck are you talking to?

  • @wattamochi Why do you need to know?

  • @ikeano29 suppressed from the public again.

  • @ikeano29 only an idiot would believe what you said congo is the most resource rich country in the world way richer than iraq or saudi arabia it has 50 trillion in resources every thing we need. the problem would be securing the congo it has 70 million people and is a lot bigger than iraq. some people don't think

  • Alguna version de este vídeo traducida o subtitulada en castellano, por favor? O si no algun vídeo que hable sobre ello para hacer un pase M Gracias!!!

  • All this so that some fatasses in Europe and the States can sell cellphones. I will dump mine as soon as the contract is up. This all sucks. Economic Hit Men from the U.S. and Europe sitting back in the background like the bloodsuckers they are.

  • How about China? The biggest user of cell phones in the world? or Japan? Korea? or the Thai company who is mining it? NO blame for the asians?

  • do you know what western countries mean? it means any country that isnt a third world country! how this helps you you before you make silly comments again!

  • Actually China isn't consider a western country! And where did you obtain your ridiculus definition of categorizing asian countries as western countries?! You simply cannot just expand definitions. Thirdly China, Thailand and other asians who uses millions of cell phones don't fall into the "first world" category! Go learn before posting ignorant comments........

  • what is oceana categorized as? in my eyes china is not a third world country! its just all you americans think the whole world is against you! i also meant myself in the first comment so just get off your high horse and do something about it like i did! i got rid of my mobile phone! dont even reply back til you do the same and get out of iraq aswell, your not wanted there!

  • @ikeano29 But you didnt get rid of your computer.

  • @TheSonsOfLight you are wrong, i destroyed it and i no longer have a mobile phone and i made it my bussiness to do some research when i bought this laptop and the coltan used is from austrailia! but also, sorry for bursting your bubble but you missed the point i was making about why this isnt known or reported about on a worldwide stage.

  • @ikeano29 : I didnt miss the point I just used common sense. Obviously you are on a computer. Now if you researched where the materials for ya computer came from. I commend you & I apologize. But you must admit my conclusion was deductive reasoning.

  • @TheSonsOfLight you're grand, nothing to apologize for. i would have the same reasoning as you also if i was in your position looking in.

  • @ikeano29 : Peace & Blessings. Keep spreading the truth.

  • @ikeano29 Peace & Blessings. Keep spreading the truth.

  • What about the US? No blame for the Americans?

  • Oh, yeah! Africans don't kill each due to their own moral failings! Everybody knows that Canadians, Chinese, Brazilians, Americans, Australians and Japanese would inevitably allow their societies to degenerate into failed states if some rare and valuable mineral were discovered within their borders.

  • Wait till clean water becomes rare ;)...see if country's wont start fighting for the control of the source. We usually ignore those details cause we the people of the 20,21 century always had everything...but when famine and need kicks in,"humanity" and "civilization" is usually trow over board.I hope we realize the importance of not wasting and over consuming soon...cause we will be the first ones to die cause of our spoiled lifestyle.

  • Trent079...interesting you make this point....In Canada, Brazil, USA, Australia...the land was taken by force, deceit and occupation, the societies that existed there were decimated by war and disease...in many cases, this was done for valuable minerals and other natural resources... hope you remember that aspect of the story...

  • how come you western journalist never said smting good about africa?
