Gotta give a big chunk of the credit to the good work done by all the fire units that responded so quickly to make sure the fire didn't pop over the barrier fencing. Those guys worked all through the night. Kudos to Cal Fire, Fontana/San Bernardino/Rancho Cucamonga fire departments and the police units.
That was an incredibly fast moving fire. But the homes up there were not in any real danger because of the excellent brush clearing they do all around the perimeter, the firewall fence they have, the firefighting staging areas they built, the extra water towers, and two helipads - like a fortress. Great video - gives a good feel of what it must have been like onsite. The Strauss waltz was a nice touch!
was this the 2003 one?

No, this fire was on October 22, 2008. You are thinking of the October 23, 2003 Grand Prix Fire which occurred in the same area.

A big fire like this at night are an awesome sight, as long as you aren't in its path or you have to breath in the smoke.

Hi Tommy! Yes, we dodged a bullet last night! Luckily there was no loss of life or property.

The fire fighters did a great job! Hats off also to Shea Homes for a great fire-safe community design here on the mountain.
