I was there.... on the opening night of this tour at The Queensway Hall, Dunstable; now sadly an ASDA supermarket. I remember it as if it were yesterday...invited to the gig by a foxy chick in my Sixth form science class...my bikers leather jacket looking a bit worse for wear after sliding my Yamaha RD200 down the road...still had hair on my head...the ringing ears and the aching neck for days afterwards...Happy carefree days !

Apologies to the "purists", but when Bruce sings the old DI'Anno tunes, his voice sounds so much better. Bruce's voice has a higher pitch & range that carries it above the lower frequencies of the power chords & bass & drums....and it harmonizes with the higher pitch guitar parts. To have seen Maiden in the early 80's must have been a true experience. I saw them in '88 - and it was by far one of the best concerts Ive ever seen. Up The IRONS!!!!!

My favourite Maiden song...this is the only one that Bruce can't replace Paul for whatever reason.

Dickinson is the much better singer, he has at least the same energy, but, in this song, Di'Anno can't be beat. Maybe it's because this song is the height of punk/metal and Bruce just can't get that "vibe".

Still, it's of small matter because Steve, Dave and the ever fun loving Clive (just watch any Maiden video and see him have a blast) are there...it's still a magic song.

I actually agree with some of the people commenting on Nicko's drumming... He is a good drummer, but Clive suited Iron Maiden better... I would even go so far as to say that Bruce always sounds better singing other vocalists work than he does his own... Listen to the cover he recorded of "Sabbath bloody Sabbath" with Godspeed... Or listen to the try out tracks of "Killers" when he was about to join Maiden... wooohaa...
