  • I'm not a musician nor an expert, but I enjoyed this

  • more than one mistake though.

  • i think the tempo can best be described as rocking a baby to sleep.

  • A lil bit awkward for me, But ill respect your interpretation

  • Nice tempo... :)

  • Man I can't get enough of that tempo! It's so fresh. Rubato means "free"; NOT just slow. It can mean fast, too!!! And that's what you've given me here. I love this. This is what I try to sound like!!

  • I absolutely love your tempo and your rubato in places. Don't change one thing! Keep it up majorly! This is the best I've heard of this song on youtube! No one cares about the mistake. I make tons more!!!! Absolutely great.

  • well played, but a little rushed. This piece sounds best when one hangs onto every little note as if it would be the last thing they ever hear....

  • I like it :)

  • I've played this and its not that hard for an intermediate player to do properly. You have some serious cleaning up to do on this puppy.

  • yehh i no i finish the song went to a cotest won 2nd place not to brag but waayyyy slloowweerr and u nneeddd to relax

  • @TheRealCritique I don't think you've ever played anything. How about you post an upload?

  • you play good!

  • sin comentarios....lo bello solo deleita el alma....las palabras muchas veces sobran

  • Tempo seems fine to me.

  • It doesn't matter how slow or fast you play this peice. Chopin himself said there is no tempo. Its up to the pianist.

  • true tats wat my teach said

  • Realmente es la mejor interpretacion que he oido

  • too fast _ too little diffrence in piano and forte!

  • Isn't this like supposed to be a night song. Like slow not a waltz, kay? But it's pretty okay if it were supposed to be a waltz. But it's not so yes

  • dude remember andante and oh yeah the song is only supposed to be 4:23 sec long dude like Slow down please. :(

it gives me a sad feeling messing up the song like that

  • I no i've seen even longer like umm 4:56 sec long and wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy toooooooooooooo ffffaassstt

  • too fast. Remember its Andante!

  • è osceno.... l'inizio poi devastante,... con quello slancio di forte veramente penoso....

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOD

  • not very good. it's a bit fast!

  • its very good but far from 'perfect'

  • Only one mistake? I don't think so.

  • The chords were mostly inaccurate and the trills were shprtened to the length. You try to use a romanticperiod technique to cover those mistakes take a look at the music and study it more thoroughly to clean up all forms of inaccuracy in the work.

  • very nice

  • ... definitely more than one little mistake in there, bro. Also, why are you adding extra trills to the gracenote runs? Sounds silly.

  • good

  • When are you goin to operate the myopia? I've been on a laser surgery with outstanding results.

  • Great song and great pianist, I would love to hear you play Nocturne in C-sharp Minor .... I guess everyone but if you want the families to seek Mike Oldfield Sentinel (tubullar bells 2)

  • Who could tell the name of this great pianist?

  • Qual o nome desse pianista?

  • Angelíííín

  • Thank you that was wonderful. Don

  • hey what happened to all the trills?? That's one of the most prettiest parts! Also, it does speed up to rapidly, as my piano teacher says you should rubato some places but you have to always bring it back to the original speed, but you do that and then make it twice as fast as the original speed. But you're technic is great! keep up the good work!

  • i was looking for this everywhere, it turned out to be No. 2 not No. 1

  • This my favorite Nocturne of all. If I die in bed I want this to be the last song I hear!

  • Kinda slow on most parts, then sped up too quick on other parts. Stay with the beat or it sounds sloppy... other than that, pretty good.

  • Wonderful! Just on some part be a little softer and east off the pedal a bit.

  • No problem, folks. I have a sticker with the steinway & sons logo. So, just stick it on your piano and ta-daaaaaa. Kiss your new Steinway. Sem problemas, rapeize. Tenho um adesivo com o logotipo Steinway. Cole ele no seu piano e tcham! Beije seu novo Steinway. Fo sale, of course. A venda, claro.

  • Hey, rapeize( folks) , its good. Tá até parecende Chopin (its even sounding like chopin).

  • I think you did a good job, despite all the critics. Good work.

  • I'm usually not critical on here of pianists, as I'm only high intermediate/beginning of advanced and cannot play things like Chopin's Polonaises yet...thus, I feel I shouldn't really judge. However, I just finished this Nocturne, and I think while you hit all the notes, you really need to play it slowly and consistently.

A lot of Chopin's pieces should be like the opera - beautiful, slow, and not jerk you out of your dreamlike state attained by listening to it.

  • @InSilverFlames about the comment on playing it slowly and consistently. I disagree with that as having alternations in tempo can really add feeling to to it. If it's too consistent in tempo it will sound too robotic. Some rules are meant to be broken. Also yeah, anyone can play it however they like. If he enjoys playing it like that then let him be, however you can play it how you like :) That being said, I like this version and it's similar to how I play it.

  • no wonder my steinway was lost!!! you have it. give that back to me... ^^

  • mm you overdid the rubato a bit

and it's a bit fast for my taste

    aside from that

    I think it's great

    :)

  • i wish i had that piano!!!

  • I think you guys are really hard with him. Ok I'm not a big fan the rubato and enhancements, but I think it's still wonderfully played !

  • You have a nice touch. Other than that, I'd say in trying to add so much that is not there, you've negated everything that should be there. I think if you just let the music speak without trying to impose your "ideas" onto it, you'd find that the one mistake you speak of in the description is, in fact, your entire interpretation of this wonderful piece.

  • You've made a bold statement, saying that it is "perfect". Sure, most of the notes that should be there are there, and even a few extras, but, this piece is about so much more than notes. Just to reinforce what many others have said, your tempo is WAY too inconsistent, your "embellishments" are distasteful, and in general, it's too "emotional". TAKE YOUR TIME with that ending, and try the B-A#-C-A at the end with one hand. Keep working.

Feel free to check out my video of this piece.

  • What grade is this song?

  • nice but.. I think too emotional, as my view I think some part are not deserved to be fort.

  • Chopin has always been a personal favorite. You did the piece justice and conveyed emotional expression through your interpretation.

Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. ~Victor Hugo

  • watch the temp especially in the first line. Your thinking in 3 think 1,2,3...like a stroll down the beach but otherwise pretty good

  • i sense u put a little too much feeling maybe nervousness? good performance with a few minor mistakes . keep up the good work

  • Your rendition is awesome. I go to Vegas twice a year and Marta at the Bellagio Piano Bar always plays this piece for me. She's a pro and good- but you're better. I hope to see you some summer at the Schubert piano competition held at the Hamline University campus in St.Paul, MN. PS I've seen another one of your videos and you do have talent. As Miaarose says, go for it and live your life. You're right at the starting blocks.

  • A good technique, but i think that he didn't understand the meaning of a nocturne...

    Very good at all

  • Very good, you seem to get carried away with the tempo a little, and there's a couple minor mistakes, but very good. Way better than I can play it.

  • i've played this piece before... are you adding your own trills? yeah, you're tempo is all over the place, and you have little chord mistakes here in there, but overall, it's not that bad... personally, i think you're being a bit too dramatic.

  • Several mistakes. Tempo all over the place. Interesting interpretation though. It is worth watching the Yundi Li version on You Tube for comparision of the piece played note perfect and with great attention to the dynamics in the score.

  • Some of you are certainly very critical. Granted, I'm a singer, not a pianist, but I still thought that it was lovely.

  • i love this piece..i used to listen to it when i was little on a music box to get me to sleep =)), beautifully done, regardless of the mistake. =)

    -Jess

  • Please be careful tempo.

  • wat the hell? this guys talkin to you like hes your instructor! hahaha watta weenie

  • Nice sound and musicality. Measure 11 (and its repeat, as well, measure 19) is utterly wrong. Please check carefully the LH notes you're playing against your score. Of course there are some other slight mistakes, too, but they're all minor and do not diminish the quality of your performance. Congratulations.

  • there was a left hand chord mistake and another right hand mistake near the end

but who cares??? it was awesome and really musical

but it looks like he's trying too hard sometimes. [haha, like in piano concertos, the guys are always like so aloof and calm and everything and it's like wtf

  • was the mistake on left hand chord?

  • up high right hand at the end

  • @thepianocian Far too exxaggerated rubato; it sounds very messy.

  • @kyaume21 i would think the rubato is fine as it reflects whoever it is's emotional depiction of the piece.

thanks for the 4 yr after reply though =) i was surprised when i saw this in my msg box

  • sounds like a nice joanna

  • I heard the mistake. 'Cause I make them as well!

  • 5/5

  • I sincerely don't remember commenting this video a year ago saying "5/5"... oh well I guess I did, and now that I've played this myself and interpreted COMPLETELY different than this I think I would give it.... a.... 5/5 HAHAHAHA.

  • Keep up the good work :)
