@lawbraka Frozen/thawed may be safer than live feed, but some snakes are picky about the food they eat, and won't eat unless it's live feed. I'm not sure if that's the case here, because Burms are generally good feeders, but it's unfair to assume that someone who feeds their snake a live rodent is only doing it because they're a sick person.

You REALLY should not be feeding live jumbo rats. Your snake is going to be seriously injured one day. Here's a good example of why not to feed live rats.... mice are less dangerous, rats can and do flat out KILL snakes. Not to mention that f/t are disease-and-parasite free, and 10x cheaper. If you heat it up properly to body temp andwriggle it around, the snake won't know or care the difference, and there's no threat of horrible injury of the snake.

@snakeboy63 how? i understand that some snakes only feed on live due to them just being picky, but for most they can be switched to prey that won't bite, kick, scratch, or harm them in any way. i'm not saying feeding live is the worst thing you could do but considering that frozen/thawed is much safer (for the snake) and can save you quite a bit on vet bills (and knowing that they are injured due to you choosing to feed live) i don't know why your arguing.

@pixiegirl820nna He is in the smaller cage for a reason. When you feed your snake, some keepers move the snake to another cage without any substrate. So the snake wont accidentally ingest some of the substrate. After the video I am sure he put the snake back in its regular cage.

If it is docile and you handle it a couple times a week, it wouldnt even dream of striking a human being. snakes that are known as less docile people normally leave in the wild, because why would you want to have a snake you cant handle? people choose species that are known to handle well to be pets, and even the nippier ones can be easily tamed with handling. besies, it is not in the snakes nature to eat humans..they dont look at us as food.

I had 3 snakes and bred live rats to feed them. I would feed my snakes 3-5 times a week depending on how active they were and more than 3/4 of the times I fed them live rats. It is more natural and allows the snake to actully use its muscles plus it's fasinating to watch them eat.
