  • waoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • i am a younger lad. so sad to just beginning to get into em cus they just played san diego. hopefully another tour soon

  • wish i was born in the 40's. wouldve been in my prime for the 60's. damn you dad and mom

  • Kinda weird....Gerry and Dan seem to swap places during the ovation!

  • Totally cool song! This song was released during my senior year in high school class of 75.

  • It was lip synced for TV nimrods! This band has played more live performances than anybody out there ......

  • the Golden years of Rock n Roll need to come back

  • you know Dan Peek himself would have liked to see this clip way before he passed away at age 60 and I think Gerry and Dewey would like to see this clip from the Bob Hope show too I'm sure they would have a fun laugh at 40 years as America the band

  • Hey I wonder if they did their Music ladin studio preformance before or after this concert

  • I love Gerry Beckley's blonde long hair in this video did he get tinted lenses for his glasses by this time or are those just thin framed sunglasses with colored lenses

  • Where's the rest of the group?

  • Gerry is so beautiful<3 and his voice is awesome! Best fucking music ever.

  • In Dans book he said they did lip sync this song. The audience caught on to it and Dan asked them to cut some slack because it was being recorded for tv and they went along with it.

  • The Bob Hope show was great. Come to think of it, we have lost Bob Hope, Steve Jobs and Johnny Cash. We now have no cash, jobs and no hope.

  • @0Heavy0Metal0 Yes! Very good.

  • live vocal; "will you meet me in the middle will you met me in the air"..wtf does that mean and why would he want to marry his sister anyway

  • This was billed as a live performance. However America was told at the last minute that it wasn't. So they had to use a pre-recorded live version so it is actually them live that's why its different from the studio version. Also America as well as other acts from that era NEVER lip synced unless they were on a tv show and had to in concert they always played live don't know where ggspaco gets his info from.America continued as a duo after Dan the guy playing lead left and they still preform today

  • Gerry Beckely is the most sexiest man of 70's. What a beautiful face!!!!! Just rediscovered how great America is and how gorgeous Gerry was.

  • @sweetied221 Oh, he still is! I just saw them a month ago, and except for shorter hair, Gerry looks remarkably the same as he did 35 years ago. :)

  • @sweetied221 : Ditto that! Gerry was so handsome in his younger years! And not a bad looking 60 year old either!

  • @sweetied221 we share the same sentiments....lol....and I'm 26....have a big crush on him,oh well....

  • @sweetied221 I agree...never realized how gorgeous he was!! WOW

  • @Mary94Anne You should have seen him up close, he was drop-dead gorgeous. He came up to me before a show in Tahoe '76. He looked much like he did in this video except longer hair, blue tinted glasses & wearing a dark blue velvet jacket. He thought we knew each other, he must have thought I was nuts as I was rendered speechless which is rare LOL. He was also very sweet, when he realized we didn't know each other (or that I was nuts) he took my hand and told me to enjoy the show :)

  • I wish I was born in the 60's.

  • @baratas I was :)

  • no this is not live America was infamous for lip syncing. my father went to a concert around this time and the track, this song actually, was skipping and they were immediately boo'd

  • @ggespaco They may be lip syncing (for the reason stated by craig8745) here but every video clip I have seen of them they are singing live. They sound great live so there is no reason for them to have to fake it unless they are on a show that doesn't want to do live and I doubt they would be on too many of them because America is a true talent that does not have to fake anything!

  • Well, the vocals are different from the studio version and those seem live,

so maybe it's a hybrid, and that's fine with me. Thanks for the analysis ilyk49.

  • @gli7utubeo Great clip indeed. But are you sure it's live? None of the acoustic guitar are plugged in. And the lead guitar breaks are actually played on an electric guitar - although one of the guitarists is "pretending" to play the lead parts with a slide on an acoustic guitar. And where's the drummer, bass guitar etc? Seems like it's just mimed to the original. Pity the camera man didn't realise that there were 3 performers on stage - not just the lead singer. But great clip all the same.

  • @ilyk49 amazing

  • love that perfect hair!

  • Hey it may not be Sixties' music but I can pretty much guarantee that alla'us from the Sixties LOVE this group & their music all the same. What's not to like? Yay! Thank you -- brings back great feelings of the day. ^_~\\

  • LOVE AMERICAN...THIS SONG MAKES REMEMBER THIS YOUNG LADY IN THE 6th GRADE AT MONROE ELM. SCH. HER NAME WAS BETTY AND SHE DID HAVE THE GOLDEN HAIR...IT WAS JUST A BAD TIME IN THE 50's IF ONE PERSON IS WHITE THE OTHER BROWN...SO WHEN I HEAR THIS SONG I THINK ABOUT HOW THE SHE LIKE ME AND I LIKE HER...BUT IT WASN'T TO BE.

  • not for me

  • BRAVO

  • Takes me back as a kid in the 70s what great memories

  • Thanks so much for posting! My 'ex' sort of dedicated this song to me in the early '70's. I always remember him fondly.

  • Good!

  • Good music & video

  • Awesome live clip!
