The EU already have most of the trappings & institutions of a REAL STATE :
(an executive, parliament,justice ministry (Eurojust),court, currency, central bank,police force (Europol),planned military etc.).
The only thing missing are the CITIZENS and THIS is why they need to get the Lisbon Treaty ratified by Ireland !
Once ratified...we all become citizens of the EU FIRST AND FOREMOST and as legal citizens we will be forced to abide by the laws of our new state,...or face the consequences.

No help to the EU? we are second biggest donor to th EU budget after Germany (we donate £57 billion per year). While country is GIVEN £3billion per year. Plus, work permit will still be allowed. We are already part of our entity which we call the "Commoonwealth of Nations", the succesor to our empire which has a population of 2billion. We are aleady part of OECD and WTO which provide us with free trade. I think we'd do just fine ;).

And you were never here. This is not a poor country to think that would be a big mistake. Once you come here you will see the difference we have other priorities in life. And a country like our can´t logically support the EU with only 5,5 mil inhibitants like the UK can or germany or France with xxxx times bigger workforce. The other aspect is that rich countries build companies in countries wilth lesser income and than move the profit to their homeland etc so again who is depending on who?

skifi1 I agree with you, here in Britain we had our "small unique shops" and other small businesses too, which EU wants to destroy with big corporate business , We don't like that either. That's another reason why we don't want to be part of it .The EU won't work, too many people have tried to unite Europe before. ie the Romans, Napoleon, Hitler,but ALl failed.

if it was my decision I would stop using money make a better system somehow .. support science as much as possible.. I am not a fan of big expensive cars or any kind of luxury. For me the most precious thing is time and I want to use it the best I can and not working for a consum company which only builds something this world does not need to survive but the oposite..How do you feel at home when you realise that half of the world dies from hunger.. and the worlds wealth is split within 1000 ppl?

Well skifi1 it seems we agree on certain points, It's funny how any country that was given a refferendum on the signing of EU treaties said NO, so the governments ignored the vote. our government didn't allow a refferendum, because they knew we would vote no, Those "1000 people" that you mention are the ones behind the whole thing, also the North American Union, African and Asian unons, there aim is one world government.. The truth is that even now Robert Mugabe has a greater democratic legitimacy than the EU. Mugabe has been elected often in the past though now his mandate has run out - The EU Commission has NEVER been elected & the peoples of France, Holland & Ireland have VOTED NO to the new constitution/Lisbon Treaty threatening the snouts of the politicians and parasites with losing their troughs on the gravy train. The corrupt central State is determined, like Mugabe, to force new votes for personal gain!

CULAVE Your point is marginally true as clearly Germany dishonouring its undertakings & recognising Croatia could be attributed the war in Yugoslavia & constituent parts of the EU have slaughtered millions of their citizens.
Such matters & not just the competitive element are best dealt with by the nimble footed style of independent Nations policed by its own peoples & by independent neighbours. Dealing with emergent giants is provably best by small single Nations NOT confrontational behemoths

The only state of the former Yugoslavia in the EU is Slovenia- there was some violence there in 1991- but never as serious as Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia etc- which are not in the EU. And Slovenia didn't join until 2004. As for Germany recognising Croatia, are you suggesting Berlin killed Serbs in the Yugoslav wars?- im a bit lost on that point. Member states are free to join and leave as they please- if they don't leave that is the responsibility of the individual governments and not Brussels.

CULAVE It was agreed by ALL EU members, so called alies, NO EU Member would recognise any grouping in Yougoslavia as a separate entity to try to prevent the inevitable wars of disassociation & rivalry that occur when peoples are forced together by political will against the basic wishes of the peoples (viz: USSR, Yugoslavia, Indonesia & shortly EU).
Germany in direct breech of their undertakings being without honour recognised the naicent state of Croatia resulting in war across Yugoslavia.

Fortunately appart from the civil war that was encouraged by the EU, NATO has largely kept the peace in Europe since '45. The EU risks war by its very existence either the war of 'Confrontation' it frequently proclaims is its purpose or the inevitable wars of disassociation as its members seek liberty & independence
