  • My fav rpg.. besides xenogears and chrono trigger, but this game will always be in my heart.

  • This game was awesome, use to plat two players with my little bro, in the beginning of the song I think its mana fading , all the songs are awesome in this

  • What a gorgeous title screen track.

  • This song is a warning.*

You hear it at the very beginning, and you are warned that the game is full of wonderful songs, from the light songs to the important one.

  • *dirigates*

  • 6 people are afraid of the heavens.

  • I was too little to play this game back then but it sounds great. What is that sound at the beginning? Birds, monsters, hell?

  • @LaurelleStars mana beasts I'd assume.

  • @LaurelleStars I always think of whales when I hear that.

  • Chrono Trigger... Secret Of Mana... Earthbound... Terranigma... You will never be forgotten.

  • @ZSh0ck lets not forget The secret of evermore'!

  • @SuperStoves And many others... man I feel so nostalgic; yesterday games were everything, and today, I'm fighting to make this a better world. It fells... weird. I got my own universe to save.

  • @ZSh0ck dont forget secret of evermore, also a great game of that time

  • secret of mana <3 ich liebe esssss soooooooooooooooooooo mache ja selber RPG s

  • Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda, and now Secret of Mana. Just a few of the games I can think of where you put the cartridge in (or in my case, click on the game from the Wii menu :), and then forget about hitting New Game; You just sit back and listen. Comment and throw out some games you know that do the same thing to you.

  • @rainandmoonlight Terranigma. All the way. And Super Metroid. :)

  • @Zabucracker Epic :)

  • @rainandmoonlight

Morrowind is a game with an awesome soundtrack too !

This and some other games have something special that´s like magic.

It brings back a lot of memories you had in your childhood.

For example Morrowind was released in 2002 but i still play it !

Same with other old but awesome games !

  • Im so happy i own this game and playing 2 players owns me and my little brother have more fun on this than on his xbox games

  • ...

Does anybody else cry a little when they hear this?

I miss this era of gaming so much...

  • @KajexFiredrake

You are right, this was so different than nowadays! Games had a very motional relatinship like Pokemon or Secret of Mana. Now all the games and developers care about ist printing money...

  • @RealShaun

I'd argue against Pokemon, personally. The story is very much cookie cutter, with no real character interaction. Formula is the same- kid gets pokemon, pokedex, dream to be league champion, stops evil abusive crime syndicate in the process.

However, if we're talking Pokemon mystery dungeon? Then we're talking a good game that manages to get that old-gam vibe.

  • @KajexFiredrake

I have to say I am both happy and sad that someone here knows the exact feeling I have when I hear this song.

  • wonderful :)

  • best game ever made.... miss this one

  • I listened to this soundtrack while writing my final papers for the semester. Got really good grades. Coincidence? I think not.

  • Some of the best bit music ever made.

  • This needs a 3DS or Vita remake so people without iOS can play an official portable version (emulators, while awesome, don't count).

  • This is my Love Theme! ♥>w<♥

  • I grew up with this game, and it changed my life for the best.

  • @Lexyvil Same

  • I never beat that game. If i think about it it's a shame. But i was too young back then. I never managed to beat that old ladies cat. Even if i didnt manage to beat the game something about this game braught me back every time to try hard. This game is different. With it's music and it's world, it's magic. It was a great experience. Definetely one of the best games back then. There was no game that could compare to this one.

Sometimes im a nerd an liste to the music of all those epic old games

  • @shayan666 I'm so with you...! Even though I am only fifteen this game never left my memory... Of course I never beat it either...

  • @FlowJoe271 =´ |

  • @FlowJoe271 your comment caught the very essence of my youth... I was almost brought tears.

  • @FlowJoe271 ..Makes me sad. Miss being a kid..

  • @FlowJoe271

Yep when life was actually joyful to live and not a pain in the ass.

  • @FlowJoe271 Your message is AWESOME man!!

  • @FlowJoe271 Totally agree

  • @FlowJoe271 You speak out of my soul.

I could´t describe it better than with your words.

  • @FlowJoe271 Well said. We all found out the hard way that our parents were right when they said "someday, when you're actually grown-up, you'll miss being a kid".

  • @FlowJoe271 i know that feeling as well as when i played with my mother this game as both shouted n frustration when we couldnt beat a boss.

    young memories never die

  • @FlowJoe271 Damnit! Why wasn't I born earlier!?

  • One of the first games I played, my first RPG, played it with my dad and my sister. It's not my favourite game, but it does hold a special place.

  • Oui superbe jeu et j'ai eu de la chance d'y jouer. On peut le trouver sur 01 net ou sur romstation.

  • first game i ever played. thinking about buying this for snes again or downloading an emulator.

  • @666Henthorn666 dude if you have a wii you can download it on the virtual console. i played it for the first time with my friends its a sik game :)

  • goosebumps every time.

  • Really love the soundtrack, a lot of emoticons going throughout the music~!!

  • If this wasn't in the app store, I would've never been able to experience its beauty, thank you square Enix :'D

  • The flamingos! Or whatever they are

    1:22

  • Damn this brings back memories I was 10 when me and my dad beat this game. :0 such a long time ago.

  • best game ever !

  • good times~

  • should i download this game or should o get super mario bros. and zelda 1

  • @awesomeahow This AND Zelda 1. Both are amazing.

  • @MrThomVD is it better with two people?

  • @awesomeahow What do you mean?

  • @MrThomVD with multiplayer or by yourself?

  • @awesomeahow I've never played the multiplayer.

  • @awesomeahow yes but its even better with 3

  • Thanks! Brings so much memory :) The soundtrack was so great but was always buggy due to sound effects :(

  • Best title theme ever

  • Am I the only one who cries every time I listen to this when I'm drunk?

  • @surdegenCONNY Hi, no, you´re not the only one.......and I can cry to this song even without being drunken.....^^ It has something to do with the composer...he is someone called "Bard" in the ancient times. Just with music making people laugh, cry, sleep......^^

  • @surdegenCONNY You have to be drunk to cry to this? shame on you!

  • Comment removed

  • @surdegenCONNY

omfg I know right. last time i heard this when I was drunk a shed a tear :( damn you fond childhood memories making me weep.

  • best secret of mana remix ive ever heard >>>> watch?v=apij2nCW_aM

  • After all these years, I finally finished this game over the summer. I remember having a blast with this game as a kid, but never having the attention span to finish it haha!

  • @Reguba24 Congrats!!!!!! How did you like the ending?

  • @Gilmoreboy2007 Loved it :) Proved I ballsed up the ending fight. I was too dim witted to figure out both my side characters had to help to get the Mana Sword. Made for a long fight. A very long fight. But, I beat it without using the sword, for what that's worth haha!

  • i can play the first few seconds of this song on the piano :D (just not when it starts to get fast...)

  • Best intro song ever. *hands on table*

  • Eee I still get the chills everytime I hear this song :)

  • This was back when Squaresoft on the cover of a box made you feel the way no other game company could make you feel.

  • Stupid early version multi tap lol WHAT TROUBLES trying to play 3 players LOL

  • 0.07 you guys know that was actually a orca? ^^

  • This game had one of the best soundtracks of its time.

  • @supergoalie1617 of _all_ time ;)

  • Give me this over Final Fantasy any day:P

  • I first played this back in '93. I'll never forget the sound I first heard when I turned this game on. Just from the title screen, I could tell that I was in for a great experience.

  • " WHY " is this Game better than most Games of Today? ; )

This Game has "Pixel-Grafic", it's not even in Three Dimensions, a

Engine is most completely not even existent. So why, after countless

Years, why is Secret of Mana still a better Game than most Games today?

The Answer is easy... ... because other than modern Games, it has a SOUL!!

  • @NeoTodesklingel A good game is not defined by it's time period. There are games today that I will go back and play 10 years from now and say they are better then the games today (2021)

  • @NeoTodesklingel THAT is why I play retro games! All those Facebook cheeser games can go to pot for all I care

  • @NeoTodesklingel So damn true...

  • I just played this with my 8-year old daughter for the second time (Now we're doing SD3) and she thinks its the best game ever, the first thing she would say after school was "Can we play SoM today?" - so if you have kids or nephews or whatever, let them play this fantastic game instead of the shitty facebook-games kids play today! It's easily accessible, either use an emulator or download the Wii version and let today kids have the same fun as we had :)

  • @EivindS thats really nice :)

  • @EivindS I'm like that with my 10-year old sister except instead of Secret of Mana we play Mario Kart. :)

  • @lopezjr42 Mario Kart will always be a fav... Its good fun competion! lol Good for families too!

  • @EivindS Good dad.

  • @EivindS I totally agree with you, this game is one of the best game ever with A Link To The Past.

  • @EivindS hi my name is tommy, im a game programmer... im currently working with someone that works at square-enix on a barely legal online playable version of secret of mana... it's NOT a crappy FB game or something lol.... it's gonna be it's own c++ based application ... I wanted to befriend you on youtube because of your comment.. i dream of one day playing this game with my kids... thanks bye.

  • @EivindS:

emulators??!! WII VERSION?! are you nuts? i mean im 16 right now but ill sure as hell wont let my kids play anything but the original consoles. im collecting them right now :D

  • @EivindS

heh my dad did that for me when i was a kid.

i still enjoy playing and reminiscing. makes me happy to see other people

doing such a great thing for their kids.

  • It made me cry

  • My first Square RPG.... what memories....

I went back and played a lot of games before this after playing this because of how great it was. The music is still amazing today too!

Nothing beats the oldies I guess.

  • Makes me wanna cry... Miss the old times.

  • i wish i was a 90's kid, this would have been so awsome :(

  • @XxpankakeninjaxX It was, this game was an essential part of my childhood. Adventure...incredible music... it really made me think.

  • @StingChameleonREMIX wow amazing

  • @XxpankakeninjaxX it's never too late... atleast you discovered the game.. think about all the kids that doesn't even know about it. Even if they did you'd know most of them wouldn't even like it.

  • Oh, I miss Square when they were in their prime. They have since become a shell of their former selves. Gems like this and Chrono Trigger defined the genre!

  • Wow the beginning was tearjerking. Its a sad kind of epic, but one of my top 10 themes probably.

  • Where is the Square that made gems like these?

  • @Zantetsudex

    Dead

  • Anyone heared the rumor that SoM might come to the 3ds? I hope so much! Nearly my whole childhood is in this game. Gosh how i love this!

  • @greatandcool

No way? You're shitting me, right? Cause having this game on an honest to god real portable has been my dream ever since game companies started doing portable remakes of classic rpgs.

  • @TotemoGaijin

no, a german website said that it could happen. But there is only a small chance.

  • boy games like this and terranigma........not any more; you cna have your nex gen games i´d rather play classics like this one and terranigma

  • They don't make beautiful game music like these anymore :/

  • I cried when i heard this again.. Such an amazing game, and the remembrance is incomparable. Thanks.

  • The first note are the best. It's creating in my self a feeling, what a feeling ! Like this sound was in my mind since 15 years... and it is !

  • The best RPG that i ever played im my life, this game is awesome, this music is peaceful, and touchs your heart deep, it brings to you memories from a distant time that never will come back, a time when people still had good taste and used to play and enjoy "real" music and games. Good job Conley, you're the man!

  • I remember when I used to rent this back in 1993-1994, I would sit and listen to this for at least 20 minutes. Now I own the game and the soundtrack.

  • @KenshinXSlayer - Me too, rented the fuck outta this game when I was like, 12, and left death threats in the "notes" section of the instruction booklet for anyone who thought about erasing my save. Before this and Link to the Past I didn't know what "RPG" was other than that shit where you only got to pick your attacks in a menu and watch a blocky sprite jump to the left of the screen to attack. Before then I was all about platformers. Too bad we never got the sequel over here.

  • @WiiClassic2usb I always hated when I would have to take the game back to the rental store, come back the following weekend and some asshole deletes your save. I never thought about leaving a note in the manual, lol! I miss those days when I would go in there and see if a game was available to rent and if it wasn't there, I would get pissed off, especially with games like SoM, ALttP and Illusion of Gaia.

  • @KenshinXSlayer

yeah we all know that feeling. I have related similar stories in other videos :) I remember I kept renting Dragon Warrior III (for the NES) every so often and was praying my game data was still there. For that game, actually I got pretty lucky time and time again. Later on I even bought that copy from them and then I ripped off the rental sticker and colored in that part just black with a marker.

I'm not sure where that copy went because I have different DW3 in my collection.

  • @notyoursavior78 I always hated when they would put rental stickers on the cartridges and they still do it I believe today on DVD's. I remember back in 1999 when this rental store, a subsidiary of Movie Starz I believe, was selling their SNES/Genesis games to get ready for Dreamcast and PS2 games and etc. I bought Chrono Trigger, with the box, manual and even the advertisement inserts for on;y $6.00. Only one problem, on the back of the cartridge, there was a rental sticker :(

  • 2 people didn't get past the first boss.

  • This song used to scare me haha, one of the most amazing games EVER to be made - hands down.

  • @MrStevenc1

how does this scare you? its the complete opposite. its peaceful and sad and hopeful all at the same time.

  • 2 people have this game not played

i love it! sooo wonderful memories... <3

    greeting from Germany

  • so fucking epic....... i love this song

  • the ff 7 of the snes generation overrated but still very good

  • It's awsome and perfect!! and i so fu***** hope that they make a remake for the ds

  • (sorry i'm french but i've got an idea).

I think Avatar (james cameron's film) and secret of mana have a lot of similitude.

    First : the village " Pandora ".

2nd : The hero who talk with a tree

3rd : Flammy (the dragon) and the red " dragon " in avatar (who saves the two heroes).

4th : The context (tree, color, animals...)

    5th : the music

    ...

  • I was baffled in the moment I heard this certain whale noise in the beginning of the intro theme. This is such a good game. sad the kids nowadays wont be able to play such masterpieces.

  • 17 years later and this game is STILL better than most of the current gen games out now

  • @KamikazeLive - Fuck yeah, would rather play this than WoW, that's fer gawd damn sure. Whatever happened to good ole fasion real time combat and not needing keyboards and mice. Trying this new "real time" Action RPG called Vindictus, still the same ole deal... no modern shit will ever be as good as SoM and SD3.

  • @KamikazeLive You dont need to be a child again to play this game! It doesnt matter how old you are, its how old you feel! I remember playing this game when I was very little and I agree that the games today cannot keep up with the games 15 years ago. Thats because everything just longs for money nowadays. I wish there was a remake of this game like Duke Nukem Forever. There are games like Secret of mana around, but unfortunately, they arent very famous...

  • @KamikazeLive You sir speak the utmost truth

  • @KamikazeLive If by "most" you mean "all" :)

  • Damn! Now i feel like I'm 12, playing this awesome game the first time, and I'm stunned of this great game...

    Time, where have you gone??

  • @scir91 It was composed by Hiroki Kikuta. Not all Square games have music composed by Uematsu.

  • super NES had incredible RPG music. this reminds me a bit of chrono trigger's soundtrack granted it was made by the same company and probably same composer? (uematsu?)

  • @scir91 As a matter of fact, Nobuo only composed about 30% of the tracks of Chrono Trigger, even (though they were generally the best tracks :D). The original composer got sick with ulcers or something so Nobuo just finished it up for him.

  • still geting goosebumps when hearing this.. what an awesome game

  • Can`t believe the ignorance of some of you, there are still great games in this day of age, you just need to look harder.

  • @ninodude01 exactly, people rely on their past to come forth in the present to much, that being said i do like ninetys games the best out of any games, if that makes sense

  • @clearpancho I agree with you on that one.

  • @clearpancho Because they were the best games. I love my game collection currently, Agarest War has my attention currently, and Mass Effect (and 2) before that, and Tales of Vesperia even before that. But if you look at FFVI (though my eyes) then see FFXIII, you'd see why people now are so cynical about 90's versus now. These games were great, simple, and didn't rely on awesome graphics to wow people, they made games because they were fun.

  • @TheDarkDragoon ya ffxiii was a terrible game you just compared a good game to a terrible game. doesnt make for a good argument. and trust me i know videos games.... its not like i was born ten years ago. but ya the answer to your comment is just hahah nvm

  • Agreed

  • i loved this game

    i love this game

    i will love this game

the soundtrack is awesome and this is the only song i have never forgotten. it is always in my head...this was a great experience to play it.

    everyone should play it

  • Hey guys i need your help finding this classic game but I can't remember what it was called but in the end some guy dies and rebirths into a bird.. or something like that. Can someone give me a clue? =[

  • @NguyenxTurbo probably you mean Terranigma

  • @Spiegelreflektor thanks a bunch!!!! =]]]

  • Man, to think how good games used to be, no 4 year olds swearing over live, no graphics come first bullshit, just pure fun

  • @wereross So true.

  • Secret of Mana & Super Castlevania IV. The greatest video game soundtracks of all time. Period.

  • Secrets of Mana for the iPhone sucks, I don't own an SNES, and so I had to get the emulated version. The controls are hard though

  • Stunning. I haven't played this game in 12 years, and the music still resonates inside me. I wish i was a child all over again..

  • @fio1310

Reading your comment made me cry a little, I feel the same way!

  • @fio1310 I can't say I'm not a little jealous. I only recently found this game on the Wii, and while I still do enjoy it quite a bit, there's nothing like going back and playing a game you spent years of your childhood on.

  • @EvilUser It's in moments like this that i don't regret keeping my Snes and all the old games i used to play. Nintendo will never be beaten in terms of pure gaming pleasure..

  • @fio1310 so true

  • @fio1310 All your nostalgia are belong to us.

  • @Diamondragan

    yep :,)
