That's something I don't get. Why do people just assume that his year in Europe was a fluke? Why would he do better in a league that's far more competitive and aggressive? Why would his abysmal shot and poor ball handling suddenly improve by being in the NBA? I get that players who are good in Europe aren't always good here. But why would the opposite be automatically true? He was a good high school player, but he won't be good in the NBA. Any team that drafts him will regret it.

I still remain on the fence with Rubio. I have no idea. My initial take on him was the people were hyping him and expecting too much out of him. I still don't know on him. BJ, I watch him play, I watch the good and the bad and I am left with a very strong feeling that he'll get destroyed in the NBA. He's sloppy, incredibly immature and relies too much on flash that won't be special in the NBA at all. He's also weak and will get pushed around easily. I could be wrong in the end, we'll see.

But the thing now that draft has taken place is that rubio is in a situation in which he has some pressure taken off of him since they also have johnny flynn as well as wayne ellington. BJ is in a somewhat decent position in which he also has jodie meeks and villanueva and michael redd. I could think maybe b/c he has already had that hardship and so many people saying he wont be good that if he was smart he would use it as motivation.

Because there's more one on one play in the NBA which is his strength. Kobe plays better in the NBA than he does against international competition. The paint is different and there's more rotational passing.

I do see your point. It is different in the European style of play. If BJ had just been mediocre over there maybe I'd be willing to dismiss it. But he was straight shit. What I saw in him over there is what my hunch of him was coming out of high school. He's immature and undisciplined. That can improve but damn shooting that badly but still not passing the ball, just endlessly throwing up bad shots is not a good sign. I could be wrong. But my gut tells me the kid will suck.

The team he played for gave him spotty playing time. Sometimes he'd play 0 minutes and other times he's play 7. His coach was tough and he came in as a kid in a brand new league, that's like coming straight out of high school into a foreign NBA. Plus his coach played him at SG and SF, so he had to shoot more and couldn't use his speed at PG.Also, he played in a low tempo offense over there, so he couldn't run up and down the court and slash the ball. He needs to go to a some-what high tempo team

It's tough for an 18 year old American to go straight into a league where everybody is speaking a different language and playing a completely different style of game to get minutes. European coaches are known for not giving young the young Americans a shot if they don't play exactly how they them to play. I say give him a few years and this dude will be a star.
