Well, a fuzz is essential. At least one decent digital delay is needed, as is a good digital reverb. Modulation effects like chorus, flange & phase are more optional and can be obtained from individual stomp-boxes, or else from a modeller like the Line 6 MM-4. A pitch-shifter (like the Digitech Whammy or Boss PS-3) may come in handy too.
