it does look like a dystonic movement of the twisting ankle but are there any other symptoms..even if you think they are irrelevant?

Only other symptom is increased reflexes. Not normally part of dystonia. Have since spoken to the neurologist who is going to investigate dopa-responsive dystonia, a condition that normally starts in a childhood.
