Ive seen this in cats and dogs and the person doing the cutting is usaully a little kid goin wild with a pair of sissors. This is great for peta and Human groups people get all upset over this sdtuff and donate lots of mon ey. Cut off a dogs ears and donations go up, should do a study and document the phenominom

I think the person who did this needs to have their ears cut off them.

I don't see anything wrong with getting your dog's ears PROFESSIONALLY CROPPED BY A VETERINARIAN /PROFESSIONAL AND CERTIFIED PERSON.

But to do such a HORRIBLE thing by yourself without any professionalism, or to have someone random do it is ANIMAL CRUELTY

Im sorry but it messed up how so many ppl thinks it cruel to dock or crop, or declaw their dog, when they have a dog at home who is never walked, or given a sense of purpose. Or how ppl get high energy dogs and than get mad that their dog has too much energy when their jus to fat and lazy to walk the poor dog. OR how their are so many obese dogs that are getting arthritis or a broken spine cus they have too much wt to carry and it killing them. B4 u pt a finger look at yourself!

Animals give us un-conditional love, support and companionship, but they are  used as fasion and status symbols for too many people, people who should have the same surgical procedures done to them, lets see how FASIONABLE it is then.

Someone said it before, if you don't like the way animals are, then you shouldn't adopt one.

@jemmzee I don't agree with cropping the dogs ears yourself w/o anesthesia, but these procedures do have their purposes! Ear cropping prevents infections and enhances the sense of hearing, docking is done on breeds of dog that as a breed have tails that break easy, leading to much more serious problems like spines issues! And a broken tail is much more painful than a dock tail, as the pain lasts! Declawing is done to eliminate the hastle of having to trim the useless toe.

@jemmzee True it is for fashion but it's healthier for the dogs to have cropped or naturally pricked ears. I've was raised with chows and their ears are natrurally pricked and they NEVER had an ear infection. Then I started getting different breeds of dogs: Labs, miniture schnauzer (ears arent cropped), pitbull (ears arent cropped) and they all have gotten ear infections expecally my schnauzer. It may seem cruel but in the long run its much healtier. PPL NEED TO USE A VET THOUGH!

@jigsawsviapprentice thats why you should clean their ears on a regular basis, if people did what they were supposed to do as an owner the rates of dogs getting ear infections would drop, its just that allot of people are too lazy to keep the ears clean.. some people also dont feel like keeping an eye on the dogs nails but we dont cut their toe's off becouse of that now do we?

@jemmzee Tail docking began as a method of preventing injury to herding dogs who risked having long tails stamped on and broken. The same goes for ear cropping and declawing (I assume you mean removal of the dewclaw, the thumb-like nub on theforelegs; only cats are declawed) for hunting dogs so they woudn't get caught and torn while scenting prey.

I agree that doing these things for fashionable purposes is ridiculous, but the procedures themselves were not meant to be.

How could any normal, sane person, be so brutal to such a sweet, defenseless animal? Michael Vick was 10x crueler to the dogs he mutilated. Now that piece of shit is out of jail, playing in the NFL, and now has a NIKE endorsement. This world is fucked up. Ban the NFL and ban NIKE products.
