The animation is probably supposed to match the fucked up mood of the episode, and as for the whole 'collective society thing', it can't happen on a large scale, maybe with twenty or thirty people, each doing a specific task for the good of the community, but much more than that and human nature comes into play and the whole thing gets fucked off by one self-rightious ass hole.

in the original novel he takes drugs that makes more sense in explaining the character to mke that satou being like that gamer dude

Also I believe that since he is not prone to lash-out as much as Yamazaki, who most definitely has avoidant personality disorder, that Sato's case couldn't be 'well labeled' even with reference to the DSM-IV
