Keith didn't use mallets in the recording, this ia an early promo video - the performance was mimed, and to reduce noise during the filming he used mallets. if you look you can see there are also no microphones or guitar leads.

Great video, I didn't realise that Keith used drum mallets in this recording, I guess thats how he got that cool splashy sound out of his cymbals.
