This IS scary, but not as scary as 1978 flash of doom. I think its scary because of the zooming words, I guess that means I am a zoomaphobe, but I do think the music is a bit disturbing.

Because of the odd sounds in the background as well as the word "Boston" when it zoomed in (and flew off the screen). I'm glad I didn't see this logo in my childhood. I would have thought it was scarier than the Viacom V of Doom!

Ah! So I see. Thank you for making the matter clear. But when I was a child I got the crap scared out of me more by the Emperor shooting out Force lighting than from the 'V of Doom' or the WGBH logo.

I see what you mean. The word "Boston" seems to look as if it were about to run off the screen and bite, unlike the "V" of Doom that actually stops moving near the end. I would have seen eye to eye with you about this logo if I saw it when I was very young.

Yes, this logo is scarier by far compared to the 1978 version.

The primitive animation is what does it for me. Oddly the music doesn't seem as creepy on the 1978 version. The 1978 version looks more futuristic, and therefore the synth backing fits in better there.

Whereas in this version the futuristic "music" clashes with the primitive-looking video.
