Buses, trains and planes need all carry on items and suitcases screened for weapons and drugs. Then bus drivers don't need guns and passengers can feel safe. It means higher more staff to protect everyone. Ive bussed b/w Canada and the US a few times, and only at the border are the carry on luggages throughly checked. By then it could be too late. A LARGE KNIFE was FOUND on a CARRY one item, and they made the man get off the bus. People wait for accidents to make changes. Thats a shame.

I rode once, down here in the States and there is no security once so ever. If you wanted it would be very easy to bring a gun on board. I dont know how it is in Canada so I cant speak for them but for the US they need armed police on the bus routes, or screaners at the terminals
