I agree w/ other comments here. Officers need to understand when people take a while to pull over that we are trying to find a safe place! I would NEVER pull over on the side of a busy highway- I would drive slowly, signal, and exit the roadway and pull into a parking lot or onto a service road shoulder or something. We aren't trying to evade arrest we are trying to keep you from getting killed like this poor guy almost did!
Two points to make: 1. Cops "CREATE" traffic hazards when they pull people over. 2. I once got off with a warning when I pulled way off the shoulder of the highway. The cop asked me why I pulled so far off the road and I told him I did it for his safety. He was so thankful for my concern for him, he let me go with just a warning.

This LAW makes sense .. proper working procedures must be established .. talking to the driver from the passenger side would have had a different outcome .. i am not sure but i beleive this law stipulates reducing speed by 20 MPH if U stay in the same lane or switching lanes .. Regards !

The cop will get bruised, yes, but not likely killed. Anyone who smashes into a stopped vehicle like that needs to be cited and jailed for distracted driving.
