Hasek also played longer than Roy, its just that much of that was in Europe before the Iron Curtain fell. He is, IMO, the best of all time.
Gotta love Hasek, good combination of old school and New technique. Check out the stack the pad saves and the poke checks, combined with rollovers and butterfly stuff. Best goalies in my opinion are the hybrids. Brodeur, Thomas et. al. If not the best certainly the most interesting to watch
I wasn't sold on Howard and still remain in doubt. However it seems he is gaining some confidence and he has the thumbs up from Kenny Holland and Babcock which is good enough for me. Now if we could just score some goals!

hasek is a joke. Anyone who is a goalie at a competitive level or knows goaltending will see real quick that hasek is a flop. he just rolls around like a retard, he has no form and no skill.
neither did hendrix, he took a righty guitar to play left, still amazing music came out of it. page's guitar style was unorthodox and if you go to music school to study guitar it was bad, yet him and zeppelin the biggest bad in the world in the 70s.
Hasek had no style or I like to call it the hasek style. who said you have to follow what "the book says" to be good. he stopped the puck, simple as that, if he was on say the redwings in whole careers theres no doubt he would have more cups
First of all you see him in his 40's (he looks much slower). Second of all, look at his stats. His career SV% is so better than SV% of any other goalie that all the other goalies look like a joke. Especially from 1993 to 1999.
it doesn't matter how you stop the puck, it's all about how many.. hasek's style gives less rebounds as he used his body instead of pads.. tim thomas is much like hasek.. goalies at competitive level know that most goals are rebound shots.. it's like what jukka ropponen said, use whatever works for you, if standup doesn't work then change to butterfly.. backstrom was struggling while using standup style, changed to butterfly and the rest is history..
And he won 6 Vezina trophy, 2 Harts, 2 Lester B. Persons, 3 Jennings, has the highest SV% and GAA (tied with Brodeur) among goalies who have 300+ wins with his style.

Theres no doubt he's a fantastic goalie and one of the greats. A future hall of famer. His 07-08 season has not been the greatest, but definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be.

Hasek refuses to give up the 5 hole in many situations that lesser goalies hate themselves for doing just that. Note how he slides with stacked pads in many cases instead of trying to drop into a butterfly. Tons of goals happen because goalies can not get the pads down fast enough and Hasek's weird mechanics just plain work when his defense isn't overpowered.
He's getting old though, and his reflexes isn't as good as they used to be. Look at him in the video when getting up from the ice. I mean even if he saves the first shot, he needs to be in position and ready for the next one. Compare this to Henrik Lundqvist or Roberto Luongo

I'm a Wings fan and I'm sick of Hasek. Great that he makes the brillant save yet allows countless soft goals through the legs. Why anyone shoots anywhere else on him is beyond me.
c'mon man if you're a true Wing's fan you'd thank him for leading us to the cup in 2002 and leading us to the WCF last year. Other goalies have failed in the playoffs for us where he has succeeded...the guy won 6/7 playoff series with Detroit, that's a rare feat.
If by "him" you mean "our puck control team that has possession of said puck for upwards of 65% of the game, thus limiting all the shots our goalies have to face", then I would I agree.. All of which is possible now that the skill players are protected (way too protected), thus meaning teams can no longer physically dominate the Wings.

I've had many goalies as my idol growing up, and growing up i hated Roy, respected him but, hated his style, i felt it was effort less, I'm a very small goalie, about 5'5 and for the love of hockey playing goalie i had to depend on my speed, and quickness, to play. I learned i had a Hasek style of moving, and therefore i love hasek, and the goalies that move like me, like Tony Esposito from the hawks. First of all you see him in his 40's (he looks much slower). Second of all, look at his stats. His career SV% is so better than SV% of any other goalie that all the other goalies look like a joke. Especially from 1993 to 1999.

it doesn't matter how you stop the puck, it's all about how many.. hasek's style gives less rebounds as he used his body instead of pads.. tim thomas is much like hasek.. goalies at competitive level know that most goals are rebound shots.. it's like what jukka ropponen said, use whatever works for you, if standup doesn't work then change to butterfly.. backstrom was struggling while using standup style, changed to butterfly and the rest is history..

Theres no doubt he's a fantastic goalie and one of the greats. A future hall of famer. His 07-08 season has not been the greatest, but definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be.

Hasek refuses to give up the 5 hole in many situations that lesser goalies hate themselves for doing just that. Note how he slides with stacked pads in many cases instead of trying to drop into a butterfly. Tons of goals happen because goalies can not get the pads down fast enough and Hasek's weird mechanics just plain work when his defense isn't overpowered.

He's getting old though, and his reflexes isn't as good as they used to be. Look at him in the video when getting up from the ice. I mean even if he saves the first shot, he needs to be in position and ready for the next one. Compare this to Henrik Lundqvist or Roberto Luongo

Who cares, so he didint do so good in one game. If you knew hockey, you would know that every goalie has a bad game. Hasek cant bail his team out of every thing. Also you need to look at where the shots came from and what kind of quality they were.

c'mon man if you're a true Wing's fan you'd thank him for leading us to the cup in 2002 and leading us to the WCF last year. Other goalies have failed in the playoffs for us where he has succeeded...the guy won 6/7 playoff series with Detroit, that's a rare feat.

If by "him" you mean "our puck control team that has possession of said puck for upwards of 65% of the game, thus limiting all the shots our goalies have to face", then I would I agree.. All of which is possible now that the skill players are protected (way too protected), thus meaning teams can no longer physically dominate the Wings.

I've had many goalies as my idol growing up, and growing up i hated Roy, respected him but, hated his style, i felt it was effort less, I'm a very small goalie, about 5'5 and for the love of hockey playing goalie i had to depend on my speed, and quickness, to play. I learned i had a Hasek style of moving, and therefore i love hasek, and the goalies that move like me, like Tony Esposito from the hawks.
