I had my macbook making that loud noise and when I took it in to have the hard drive replaced (after a hard drive failure) they replaced my cd drive with one that hardly makes any noise.
Just look at how slow vista starts. Compare Vista's start up time to Mac OS X. Yea before you guys start yelling at me for saying, THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE"... this pretty darn close to the final version and it is not going to improve very much I can assure you. Sooner or later you are going to have to switch when they start making XP apps in a Vista architecture and you can experince the pain and frustration all over again.
Actually, the RTM version boots a lot faster. Keep in mind that Boot Camp doesn't officially support Vista yet. In any case, I'm running the RTM versions of Vista and Office 2007 now. I'll try to post a new vid of that soon.
Beats me. It's the latest version of OS X. So anyway...Boot Camp 1.1 beta came out and Windows Vista RC1 came out. So I did a new version...all about Vista (no rebooting into OS X, which we all know works and is cool).
However, my demo ended up being longer than 10 minutes and YouTube doesn't like that. (YouTube has a 100MB/10 minute limit).

I got Vista from our MSDN subscription at work, but Microsoft has opened up the beta to the public (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/). Read (all of) this forum (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=14448) for tips on how to install.
I just got a new desktop pc with preinstalled vista, but i want to install xp on another partition, please help..

I am sure it will get better after launch.
I say after, because the first few months are always hard on windows installs, when everyone is testing out the software.
Sometimes i wish microsoft had the same luxury apple does, and just make software for a set of hardware.
