@reggaegaz hi, i got a cd some yrs back called 'king tubby essential dub' released by metro, via union square music, outta cowley (unionsquaremusic.co.uk). the spine lists it as metrcd021. first track is 'silver bullet' credited to 'the observer all stars'. the release date on the disc is 2000.
With first generation Reggae, its fun to try and tease out the influences. Mainly they listened to NA soul with some NOLA stuff thrown in. Ken Boothe has a serious Otis Redding thang going on. Whether its conscious or not.
baby i'm not Jokin',.. And Ist not what im smokin' i really think you're nice :) What a great Song dough!.. Really love it,.. it makes you dream of what once could be,... something between a you and a me :)... Peace out n Jah Belss from the pretty chilly Swizzerland,..
Classic song, too bad Boothe and Niney claimed the authorship of the song when it was really written by Sixto Rodriguez on his second album for the Sussex label, Coming From Reality.
wow, never knew this was Ken Boothe, always thought Barrington was the first. Sometimes it's so hard to know what's what in reggae. Absolutely great song, thanks for posting and the photos to compliment.

Best version I ever heard and the musical arrangements are superb. Great music coming out of Jamaica in the late sixties.

Songs like this remind you of how much reggae music has changed. I actually miss this style and wish it was still popular.
And what a gorgeous voice<3
