  • It's easy to make those dumbells...go to a steel shop, get either a 1" or 2" (diameter-depending on the size of the hole of your 10 lb plates) steel pipe, DOM (a certain type of steel pipe) and cut it to the length you need...add your plates (in Kroc's case...30!!)...and use some Vise Grips as clamps....shouldn't cost more than a few bucks for the steel and the Vise Grips...

  • I gotta admit, as someone who was a competitive powerlifter for years, I expected to see some moron heaving and jerking a weight using momentum more than muscle, while convincing himself he was impressing everybody in the gym. But his form actually is not that bad, and I'm sure he has some genuine strength. Trying to lift weights like this even with good form usually or eventually leads to injury and wear and tear on the joints, too heavy with bad form your just asking for it.

    But you will still find that super strict form is impossible when you start lifting heavy ass weight. ALL strong mofos use at least a bit of body english on many lifts, esp. rows. But don't get me wrong, heavy weights don't justify shitty form (thinking of the newbs here who don't know how to use body english PROPERLY and jerking without getting fucked up). Newbies may think that this is the form they should use all the time. Da interwebs is serious businezzz!

  • @Malkieth also if he is twisting his body his back he is not using his lats as much. the lats are responsible for shoulder extension. its like in a pullup or lat pull down you don't twist you body. twisting his body cheats the exercise by making him use his transverse abdominis and internal/external obliques and less of his lats, traps, rhomboids and bicep

  • No, when you warm up you're using light weight to get more blood flowing and muscles stretching, do some push ups, push presses, over the head hammers and stretch as well, then move into your heavy lifting.
