  • In the 1950s Con/Lab soaked up 95%+ of the vote, now nearer 70%, so while that diminishing vote wobbles along the one axis, the swing over time is more away from Red/Blue and towards Gold

  • And if you measured from 1910, the swing is away from Gold. And if you measure from 1983, the swing is away from Gold in vote share, if not in seats. It all depends on where you stick your goal-posts...

  • Erm, yes that is right but not really that relevant.

  • But the Liberal Democrats (formed in 1988) have never been in power - ever. The Liberal Party however, was last in sometime at the end of World War One I believe.

  • Peter Snow wat a legend shame he doesnt do it no more!

  • they did use a different theme in 2001 & it was crap! the best version was personally 1997 although a Tory voter so I lost but the music & graphics were good apart from all the red lol, good to see no yellow though!

  • All those Swingometers showed Labour up against the Tories..shows how the Lib Dems will never get close! lol

  • Ah, but they have three dimensional swingometers now, as seen in the 2005 election...

  • Well... the Liberal Democrats have never been in power so i can understand you there. It really has been swinging from Labour and the Conservatives since 1922.

  • Very cool ;)

  • Yes, the BBC used "Arthur" as the election night theme from about 1979 until 1997. I think they used a different theme in 2001 and brought Arthur back in 2005.

  • Rick Wakeman King Arthur´s theme..lol
