  • i like this song most~

Buat hilang rasa patriotik aku.

  • @ilinu1 stuju dgn ko... lagu Tanah Pusaka karya Ahmad Merican better.

  • mamula moon recorded in 1947.

terang bulan lyric are written in 1920.

Perak national anthem were adopted in 1901 from la rosalie in 1901.

La Rosalie was a famous song in mahe, seychelles by the late 18th century.

sailors use to hummed the tune thus making it popular.

  • tarian zapin berasal dari tanah arab

tulisan jawi berasal dari tulisan arab

    orang arab tak bising pon

  • bagiku, Tunku Abd.Rahman terlalu ambil mudah dalam hal2 sebegini diwaktu pemerintahannya...sehingga jadi pertikaian di waktu ini..sebagai contoh, penciptaan Jalur Gemilang, tiada penghargaan diberikan kpd penciptanya..termasuk Tugu Negara, meniru tugu Iwo Jima..seperti membuat sesuatu tanpa perbincangan terlebih dahulu..maaf..saya memang rakyat Malaysia, tetapi saya tidak hidup di zaman Tunku..saya hidup di zaman Dr.M...Dr.M the best...

  • I came across this song last year, and enjoyed it immensely. It is a beautiful melody and evokes carefree days. I don't care where the melody of negaraku comes from. What ever works is fine. As I recall, Malaysia Boleh and 1 Malaysia pretty much comes from Nestle ads. It's the spirit of the slogan that counts.

  • As the sequel to Mr. Birch's murder, deposed Sultan Ismail, retained authority over part of Pêrak, was banished to Johore; Abdullah, the Sultan, and the Mĕntri of Larut, was exiled to the Seychelles, and the Rajah Muda Yusuf, a prince regarded as very obnoxious, elevated to the regency, Pêrak at the same time passing virtually under our rule-So wrote the writer! This song from the banished Sultan Abdullah was later taken back to Perak from the Indian Ocean island of Seychelles, not France!

  • What robbenter says is correct, the Perak sultan who was not friendly to the British was captured at sea and banished to Mahe Seychelles and was not allowed to return to the Malay peninsula actually first sang this song in a moonlit night under the coconut palms. He was very homesick and hence the melancholic tune! Pierre J d Beranger could not have composed a song with Malay tune ( typical of music of "orang laut", of which the Sultan belongs)

  • There is nothing wrong to use another song and make it as a national anthem..

but the point is that when you said you wrote it and created it... well that's sucks.. it means our govt. has been cheated... and honour is given to the wrong person.

  • La Rosalie by Pierre-Jean de Béranger (1780-1857). both malaysia and indonesia not right.

  • orang luar nak ganyang Malaysia. kita dalam Malaysia pun saling bergaduh. mampusla Malaysia.

  • @syarulll maka nya jaga sikap kalian di forum internasional....jangan sombong dan jangan angkuh...sesungguhnya malaysia dan indonesia hanya berbeza sikit...jika tak ada indonesia..malaysia tak mungkin maju macam sekarang begitupun sebaliknya .. hormati Indonesia hormati malaysia!!

  • really copy o...

i think negaraku is better la

  • lagu yang sangat membosankan,, lebih enak dengerin lagu Copy My Style........

  • @anindarinantari you know nothing about music.

  • pedulikla ciplak ke hape..banyak je lagu kebangsaan negara laen yg diadaptasi mcm ni..

    sedap jugak pe melodi dia..hehe

  • The song Mamula Moon borrowed the tune from Terang Bulan... so, it was composed in Perak dulu sebelum the mat sallehs used it.

  • Felix Mendelssohn released this song in 1940s.

Negaraku was adapted from the state anthem of Perak, which is a keroncong-influenced Terang Bulan, a popular song in the 1930s in Indonesia and Malaya.

Its also a tune in the island of Mahe in the Seychelles where a former Perak Sultan lived in exile. A French band played the tune when it performed there.

Some historians say that a well-known 19th century French poet and composer, Pierre Jean de Beranger, wrote the music.

  • Felix Mendelssohn &hisHawaian Serenaders played this tune and many other Island tunes at the old STATE CINEMA in Grays Essex in the1930's

  • probably so. folk songs do get around.

  • Ok so my national anthem is a hawaiian song?!

  • hahaaha

  • like negaraku lol

  • this song sounds better han negaraku because it is alittle bit soft HAHA

  • kalau orang malaysia..tak mungkin....kalau orang indon mungkin...

  • Although Negaraku is similar to Mamula Moon, but NEGARAKU IS OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM,this is the fact, all Malaysia should proud of it.

Kami serumpun!

  • Sadly enough, they killed the original song with their rendition

  • what to do...malaysia boleh...boleh ciplakla

  • America took a famous bar song as their national anthem. It's a common practice where a newly-formed nation will adopt a famous song as their national anthem so that the people could remember easier. READ MORE!

  • Man, why argue?

You guys don't even know what was really happening at that time!!

    So, don't talk shit!!

    Just concentrate on making progress..

Things like this just make the human being going backwards!!

    Peace!!

  • sad for malaysia by copying other and chg the lyric but y wang ming zhi use tis song and chg lyric will also get isa

  • ichsanrachmadi..baka mita..im glad i lived in malaysia

  • it´s more obvious.. malaysia fuckín country..

  • Another fact is, the most farthest SEA origins also landed in Hawaii, not just the Polynesian. So my point is... These people tht traveled across the North Pacific Ocean r our ancestors too. As for the song.. It considered the same part of the people itself. Why argue if they have the similarities... even the original great Felix Mendelssohn himself didn't argue with it and he gladly to share.

  • Polynesians are genetically SE Asians who left Indonesia around 3,000 years ago. SE Asians and Polynesians are racially, culturally, and linguistically, Austronesian or Malayo-Polynesian. Austronesia stretches from Hawai'i to Easter Island to Madagascar including most of what is now ASEAN.

  • The ancestors of these people had traveled by sea from south China to Taiwan, and later from Taiwan to Borneo & the Philippines. These people became the ancestors of the Malays and the Orang Laut. So basically, these migrant came from all over the part of SEA to malaysia & not just tht, most of them shared the same values.

  • U guys shud read more history than just arguing with each other, we're in the country where convergence from many races tht find THIS country peaceful backed centuries ago. FYI, most scholars believe the earliest settlers on the Malay Peninsula came overland from southern China in small groups over a period of thousands of years- thts only a small fact, deal with it...

  • from this source i can only infer that malaysia have no creativity...they need to copy from other...majulah singapura was original...u meant ppl one day can have original song composed m'sia cant? dotz..they only drink coffee and eat nonya kueh

  • kontol

  • kontol

    ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

  • yoh..another may13 pulak.. so everyone should shut their fucking mouth up lah..what's free speech then? anyway it's obvious that it's a DIRECT COPYRIGHT ABUSE as it would be translated today..what a shame

  • We chinese come here to take over your country. Malays is "kaum yang kasihannya", need more and more help. Last time they try to compete with KOREA and Singapore, now compete with Indonesia and Vietnam, next time compete with Africa, in future compare with orang utan and monkeys...

  • Agree with you jianfeng.

Without chiness malaysia will not have done anything so far.

  • That's as ethnocentric as the 19th century Europeans. Malaysia was part of three great SE Asian empires and during the time of Sri Vijaya, Chinese would go to Malaysia to study and trade. Malay was once spoken more widely than Mandarin in SE Asia and even southern China. The fact that from the Chin to the Ming dynasty, Malay interpreters were present at the Imperial Court shows the importance of Malaysia and Indonesia.

  • With Malaysia, some of you will still be planting rice in Fukien and Hunan while singing the joys of Chairman Mao.

  • I have to say, that the recent malaysia was just a part of sriwijaya. There was never even empire there. Sriwijaya was in recent Indonesia.

This kind of history change also happen in Slovakia. While said there was never any king there. But despite being shameful for not having one. They changed the history and created a king and kingdom in part of the history. Why its happened? Because there was never Slovakia. Just Hungary. So kind of funny history you explained is not surprised for me.

  • Negaraku" (English: "My Country") is the national anthem of Malaysia. "Negaraku" was selected as a national anthem at the time of the Federation of Malaya's independence from Britain in 1957. The tune was originally used as the state anthem of Perak. The tune was also used for a popular song of that time, Terang Bulan, which was later borrowed by the song Mamula Moon, sang by Felix Mendelssohn and his Hawaiian Serenaders.

  • arezeo.blogspotdotcom/search?updated-max=2007-11-22T11%3A54% 3A00%2B08%3A00&max-results=6,

the fact is negaraku is form perak nation song, and mulana moon is using negaraku melody, not negaraku is using mulana moon

  • make it clear,

Mamula moon is a folk song of Hawai for decades,

and the mood of the song suits hawaii more than malaysia,

Its COMMON SENSE that mamula moon is earlier than tat stupid negaraku..

So the same goes to the debate of rasa sayang,

    its indon's one,

    malaysia keep arguing,

the truth is RASUAH SAYANG is the malaysian one..

    Malaysia "BOLEH"

  • haha. lol

  • intro je sama...kesamaan tu dalam 35% je....

  • sad lah, i tot negaraku oni got this melody, surprise surprise lor. nice song though

  • its not about the bloody rules of copyright... but this shows the typical malaysian character...... the bastards who talks and support that there is no copyright rules also narrow minded and talking about rights still. can't you see......its not about rules but originalism.

they can't think for themself...all want to copy....cheap cheap cheap....

    then talk big...malaysia hebat.

  • oittt.....korang klu x tau sejarah tuu diam2 je laaa...

    ishk2...

  • malunya aku... haramjaddah punya lagu malaysia.. ciplak ropenya

  • "mamula Moon:

....a song to a popular French melody, originally composed by the lyricist Pierre Jean de Beranger (1780-1857), who was born and died in Paris".

Diabad 1780-1857, adakah wujudnya "Copy-Right". Tidak ada langsung.

    Begitu juga pada tahun 1957.

Jadi persoalan "ciplak" juga tidak wujud . Yang terbukti ialah, lagu 'Negara Ku" ialah

lagu KEBANGSAAN DAN KEBANGGAAN NEGARA MALAYSIA.

  • hey u...

DO u know Human right in WW2, there was no such human right law at that time.

but now still discussing the people who were doing the genocide.

Same with the copyright in the past, and now the world has changed.

    I think u know what I m talking about..

or I need to explain in one article.

  • WW2?...1945? was there human rights before that????.....

1.The Geneva Convention,(first adopted in 1864, last revision in 1949)

    2.The Hague Convention 1899.

    3.The Geneva Protocol 1907.

"The Geneva Conventions consist of four treaties formulated in Geneva, Switzerland, that set the standards for international law for humanitarian concerns".

    No human rights before WW2???.

  • Intellectual Property Rights:

"It was very uncommon until the 1967 establishment of the "World Intellectual Property Organization", which actively tried to promote the term. Still, it was rarely used without scare quotes until about the time of the passage of the Bayh-Dole Act in 1980."

  • intagip:

    hey u....,

was 1957 the same as 1967 or 1980?.

  • "Negaraku" is the national anthem of Malaysia.

  • it's embarassing!!anyway nothing new about it...

  • The national anthem that Malaysians have been singing proudly for over 50 years was copied from this WESTERN song???!!! Shame on you!!!

Message for Malaysians who love Malaysia: Make something original if you want it to represent your country. How pathetic!

  • umno very stupid lah..

  • A country with an acute plagiarism and shameful behaviors. A Muslim country that legalizes gambling and sexual tourism; a Muslim country, as widely known, that is full of hypocrites shrouded in the mantel of Islam. A corrupt political party that condemns against Muslim ulama standing for the right path due to different political stances.

  • The song had been very popular on the island of Mahé in the Seychelles. where Sultan Abdullah of Perak had formerly been living in exile. He heard it at a public band concert on the island, a song to a popular French melody, La Rosalie, originally composed by the lyricist Pierre Jean de Beranger (1780-1857), who was born and died in Paris.

  • he Committee then turned to the Perak State Anthem. On August 5 1957 it was selected on account of the "traditional flavour" of its melody. New lyrics for the National Anthem were written jointly by the Panel of Judges— with the Tunku himself playing the leading role.

At the time this melody was, while still the State Anthem of Perak, also a well-known and popular Malay song under the title, Terang Bulan ("Bright Moon").

  • Next the committee decided to invite selected composers of international repute to submit compositions for consideration. The composers chosen were Benjamin Britten, Sir William Walton who had recently composed the march for Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, the American opera composer Gian Carlo Menotti and Zubir Said, who later composed the National Anthem of Singapore. They were all turned down too.

  • Tunku Abdul Rahman, at the time the Chief Minister and Minister for Home Affairs organized and presided over a committee for the purpose of choosing a suitable national anthem. On his suggestion, a worldwide competition was launched. 514 entries were received from all over the world. None were deemed suitable.

  • Amazing...

Not only stealing Rasa Sayange?? Even Malaysia givernment stolen Mamula Moon as NEGARAKU...

What is your best? Malas ke? Tak nak buat lagu tempatan buat your national anthem???

  • oh man...its pirated too????

  • malaysia memang sengkek... lagu pon nak cilak... lancau aa malay... umno bodo...

  • The tune was originally used as the state anthem of Perak[1]. The tune was also used for a popular song of that time, Terang Bulan[2], which was later borrowed by the song Mamula Moon, sang by Felix Mendelssohn and his Hawaiian Serenaders. source: wikipedia

  • Was the writer use his/her knee for think? walk with his/her head? Up side down...LOL.

  • Ops.. the history from redtulips05 is not complete cited..make the reader got ashtray. Basically the song is taken from somewhere, I wonder why not make a new one at that time? Anybody can answer the real/true reason?

  • this song much better than the national anthem...make a new anthem with new rhythm, copying is suck.

  • for indonesian, if u dont like malaysia better u call ur citezen here come back..plz i hope u can do that because very crowded here with jamu smell

  • MALAYSIA tak bolehhhhhhh!

  • hmph...the person/ people who came up with malaysia's national anthem was/ were extremely creative i must say...

  • Very interesting...!! This obviously explains why Malaysians can also use Indonesia's Rasa Sayange for their official campaign without feeling guilty.

    Quo vadis, Malaysia?

  • NegaraKu copied Mamula Moon!

Malaysia's flag looks similar to the USA flag.

Now Indonesia said we copied "Rasa Sayang"

    I won't be surprised.....

Go to the nite market in Malaysia, the answer is there.

  • Unbeleivable, a country called Malaysia is a greatest a pirate song in the world.

Malaysia anthem is originally Hawaian song.

Now, Rasa sayange coming from Indonesian is claimed as their ugly Tourism song...

    Go the hell Malaysia!!!

  • i dunno what to say...sigh..

  • it seems that some of u guys hate malaysia so much and feel ashame being one, why dont u guys migrate somewhere else..

Perodua/proton/naza etc is a joint-venture of big companies.. its not exactly "copy" ppls idea... get ur facts right.. vehicle manufacter copy each others design, whats the big deal?? when Toyota copy Honda, Mazda copy toyota, its not a big deal... but when Proton copy Mitsu, suddenly it becomes a big deal.. .i wonder why??

  • Actually, they love Malaysia very much. It shows that they care about Malaysia. Please, wake up Malay. Bumiputra for everybody or none. Be fair.

  • sure abundai...you didnt have to say it...i had it in mind since long ago...

  • Malaysia never achieved or invented or made anything by themself..picked ideas from others and put their name "M'sia Boleh" Hell ya.."boleh" my ass..

perodua, proton, naza, modenaz all same.. copied ppl's idea..

wat ashame..even anthem also copied from others

  • f##k you man. think you r best enough to say like that. better blah from this country laar. if we got at least 5 f###ing people like you, malaysia is never be the same today....

  • so what if the malaysian national anthem is a copycat?? the level of malaysian mentallity at that time is of that era, probably couldnt see how it would impact in the future....... watever it is, im still proud of being a malaysian... r u ?? mamula moon or not, im still a malaysian... its not the anthem that makes a country, its their people!!

  • Malaysia memang boleh.. can anyone here find their national anthem same as any other song?? if yes, i m proud to be a malaysia. if no, shameness and disappointing.

  • Many of our local car designs are also imitated from other foreign car companies.. Disappointing and shameful... Even the new Proton Persona is 90% similar to Gen2.. Be innovative laa...

  • Mamula Moon sung by Felix Mendelssohn 1940, nice love song.

  • are you sure??

  • Its true, the song is sung by Felix Mendolssohn. I heard during those time the sultan (dont know from where) studied abroad or travel, like this song and brought it back to make it a state song, then it was changed into the national song. Mamula moon is a goodbye song. very soothing and relaxing.

  • malaysia plagarises

  • WTF man ... i didnt know this shit !

our flag looks like USA flag our song sounds like some other song . our BM sounds like multiple other language ... is our country a big copycat country ?
