Universal health care should be a right. We have Medicare in Australia and while it's not perfect, we won't withdraw coverage in the event someone actually falls ill like those monstrous insurers in the US.

I feel like it's all pretty simple. If a nation hopes to prosper, shouldn't its people be healthy and educated? I think the private sector plays an extremely vital role to a nation's success, but I believe that something as core and necessary as health and education shouldn't be provided by them. The government should provide these things. I could be totally wrong, but those are just my thoughts.

Death panels dont exist in the HCR bill. They dont exist in the 'socialised' medical services of any western country either. It was completely made up by the President's political opponents to distract from the real debate and to divide people.
It's called a "slippery slope" argument. Basically what they are saying is that Event A will lead to event B, which will lead to event C (and so on) when there is absolutly no correlation between the occurances of the events.

The HC Bill has what some call the Death Panel, now called "The Independent Payment Advisory Board". This board is appointed without Congressional Approval by our president and any future president, it is a bunch of Bureaucrats who make decisions which should be done by the people closest to our health, like myself and Doctor. Kind of like hearing a funny sound from a long distance away with your car, and then the options become available from that distance.=)

I don't understand why people have such a strong negative reaction to euthanasia. I think given the option (which doesn't currently exist) I would much rather just (Voluntarily, and thats a key point here) push the button so to speak than live out the last few months of my life in agony from terminal cancer or the last few years of my life not even knowing who I am due to Alzheimer's. Both of which are scenarios I have seen family members go through.

KRUGMAN: The advisory path has the ability to make more or less binding judgments on saying this particular expensive treatment actually doesnt do any good medically and so were not going to pay for it. That is actually going to save quite a lot of money. We dont know how much yet. The CBO gives it very little credit. But most of the health care economists I talk to think its going to be a really major cost saving.

IMO if we allowed Republicans and the Tea Party to run the US like they want to they'd create their own death panels for the poor and elderly. Perry wants to cut medicare because it's not in the constitution and they're already cutting into pensions. The HC Bill has what some call the Death Panel, now called "The Independent Payment Advisory Board". This board is appointed without Congressional Approval by our president and any future president, it is a bunch of Bureaucrats who make decisions which should be done by the people closest to our health, like myself and Doctor. Kind of like hearing a funny sound from a long distance away with your car, and then the options become available from that distance.=)

Obamacare is really bad, and reason to Prioritize/Force it in was to insure 30 mil, then create a small much less expensive plan which covers 30 mil, then afterward reform our existing HC. I think given the option (which doesn't currently exist) I would much rather just (Voluntarily, and thats a key point here) push the button so to speak than live out the last few months of my life in agony from terminal cancer or the last few years of my life not even knowing who I am due to Alzheimer's. Both of which are scenarios I have seen family members go through.

With a ~2000 pages in all present bills and nearly ANY THING in your life can be related to heath care or cost for heath care. KRUGMAN: The advisory path has the ability to make more or less binding judgments on saying this particular expensive treatment actually doesnt do any good medically and so were not going to pay for it. That is actually going to save quite a lot of money. We dont know how much yet. The CBO gives it very little credit. But most of the health care economists I talk to think its going to be a really major cost saving.

People must be really lacking in common sense and intelligence to think that reducing Medicare by $1/2TRILLION will not negatively effect quality of care or cause the withholding of care to those thought "unsavable" or who don't have enough time left to worry about. Sarah Palin was being facetious about seeing Russia from her porch. She'd have to go to Diomede Island AK to be able to see Russia. If the government was banning private healthcare, or mandating that citizens enroll in the government program, then calling it socialist would be understandable. But nothing like that is being proposed.

The point of all this debate is that death panels are a lie invented by the GOP so they can keep lining their pockets with money from insurance companies. If polictians are that corrupt, if news networks are that dishonest and if the public are that gullable, there really is no hope for America. At least give Obama the chance to fail.
